Chapter 355 - Chapter 355 : Goodbye, Thanos

"Thanks to Strange, truly worthy of the title Supreme Sorcerer!" someone exclaimed in the aftermath of the explosion.

At the critical moment, just as Alex Ray and Thanos were gathering their full strength, Strange sensed the imminent danger. Acting swiftly, he ordered the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj to open a portal, whisking the Avengers away from the impending blast zone.

The Avengers were transported into a shimmering mirror dimension—an independent universe entirely cut off from the outside world. Though momentarily safe from harm, their anxiety only deepened.

"That was terrifying. I seriously thought I was done for," Rocket Raccoon muttered, still trembling with residual fear.

"Grrru!" Wanda (Alex's Wanda) cried out in distress, her voice echoing in the vast space as she anxiously called Alex's name. She couldn't sit still, her instincts screaming to find him immediately.

"Alex is okay, right? Let me out—I need to see him!" Wanda said urgently. Her panic swelled with each passing second. The waiting, the unknown—it was torture.

"He's definitely okay, Lady Wanda. Master is absolutely invincible," said Toby Peter, his young voice filled with unwavering faith. Despite his age, his admiration for Alex Ray never wavered.

"Believe in Alex. Even if the whole world falls, he'll still be standing," added Young Tony with a forced grin. But the tension in his clenched fists betrayed his inner fear.

Old Tony, furrowing his brow, finally voiced the unspoken question: "Wait… considering the sheer force of that explosion from both Thanos and Alex, conservatively speaking, the Earth should've been obliterated. So why was the blast radius only a hundred kilometers?"

The room fell silent as everyone exchanged uneasy glances.

Doctor Strange answered slowly, gravely, "There's a force suppressing the explosion…"

"It must be Alex. He used the Space Stone to restrain the blast's energy," he added, his voice laced with awe and admiration.

A collective sigh of relief swept through the room. They knew Alex Ray wasn't just powerful—he was fearless. He had stood his ground at the most critical moment and prevented what could have been universal annihilation.

Suddenly, Steve Rogers frowned. "Thanos… he really didn't care about the lives of his soldiers, huh?" His voice was low, filled with both anger and sadness as he stared at the fading white light.

Thanos's actions made it abundantly clear—he didn't value the lives of the warriors who had fought loyally by his side. That ruthless indifference made Steve's stomach churn.

Finally, after two and a half long minutes, the explosion subsided. The blinding white light began to recede, revealing the scorched battlefield beneath.

The Avengers peered out nervously, eager to see who had emerged victorious from that cataclysmic clash.

Everything—trees, terrain, stone, buildings—had been disintegrated by the force of the blast.

All that remained was a massive crater, deep and seemingly endless. A scar carved into the planet's surface.

They hurried over and peered down.

Alex Ray was there, half-kneeling, panting for breath.

Thanos lay nearby—motionless.

Alex's clothes were shredded by the force of the explosion. His skin was scorched and streaked with cuts, but his eyes—those unwavering eyes—still glowed with the fire of victory.

He had won.

Barely, but decisively.

Though every fiber of his being screamed with exhaustion, Alex could feel it—his power had touched the edge of the multiverse. Even if only faintly, he had reached beyond the boundaries of ordinary existence.

Throughout the fight, he'd carefully manipulated the Space Stone, using its force to suppress the cascading energy that had threatened to engulf them both.

But now, he was spent.

Completely.

If Thanos had managed even one more breath, one more strike, the outcome might have been very different.

Alex reached into his pocket with trembling fingers and pulled out a magic bean—the Senzu Bean he had prepared in advance.

Without hesitation, he swallowed it.

Warmth flooded his limbs. In moments, the fatigue melted away. His injuries closed, his strength returned.

He stood.

Then began walking slowly, deliberately, toward Thanos.

The Mad Titan lay in a heap, his right arm shattered, a gaping wound in his chest. He was breathing—but barely.

He had given everything. And failed.

Despite his pride, despite his strength, Thanos had been defeated. Just like his other self in another universe.

But knowing the end was near, Thanos felt strangely calm. His rage and obsession had melted into resignation.

He let go.

Let go of power, let go of conquest, let go of ambition.

Just... silence now.

He remembered a saying from a faraway world: "After I die, let the flood come." That was his mood now. Detached. Hollow.

He couldn't help but feel bitter, though. Given a little more time—just a little—maybe he could've mastered the Infinity Stones. Maybe he could've turned the tide.

But it was too late.

Loss is loss.

And in the depths of his soul, he had to admit—it was true.

This enemy, Alex Ray, wielded the Infinity Stones with a mastery Thanos couldn't match.

Thanos had never even touched the Space Stone or the Time Stone. The Mind Stone had never resonated with him. That's why he'd given it to Loki.

Other than the Power Stone, only the Reality Stone had felt like a proper fit.

Too bad.

Now there were no more chances.

His army? Wiped out—by his own hand.

Soon, he would die on a foreign world.

Perhaps his greatest regret was that he would not fall in the universe he called home.

Did he regret coming here at all?

He didn't know.

"Maybe I should've refused that guy's invitation," he thought vaguely.

The memory returned to him—some small, mysterious figure who had slipped through his battleship's defenses and tossed an Infinity Gauntlet with three stones at his feet.

Then vanished, leaving behind only a note.

A short message, scribbled in sharp letters:

"Behind the wormhole is Alex Ray. He killed your men, took the Mind Stone, and holds three others."

Thanos had known it might be a trap. But he had walked into it anyway.

Why?

Because strength makes all conspiracies meaningless.

That was what he believed.

But in the end, he lost.

That little figure must have had a scheme, but Thanos couldn't be bothered anymore.

He wouldn't warn Alex.

Let the cards fall where they may.

Alex stood before him now, silhouetted by the fading light of destruction.

He stared down at Thanos, his face unreadable.

"Goodbye, Thanos," Alex said softly.
