Chapter 2 - chapter two : new beginning

With a wave of anxiety and unease washing over me, I suddenly felt hungry. My worry only grew stronger with the thought that I might not be able to find food in this strange world. My palms grew slightly sweaty as I asked a few strangers about the currency used here.

They replied that the dollar was the common currency in this world, just like in most others. I felt a slight sense of relief—thankfully, I had ten dollars with me. I slipped away from the crowd in search of a place that served food. Soon, I entered a small, humble restaurant by the roadside and ordered a meal that cost five dollars. I felt the weight of the money I'd just spent—only five dollars left in my pocket. It felt like a pitiful amount when faced with the challenges of this new world.

After eating, I knew it was time to look for a job. I approached a few villagers and asked, "Do you know if there's any work I could do around here?"

One of them replied, "There are simple jobs available from time to time, but competition is tough. You'll need to have some skills or something to offer."

I followed up, "And if I don't have any special skills? Is there still something I can do?"

The man smiled and said, "You could start with manual labor or simple tasks, but you'll need to prove yourself quickly. This world doesn't show mercy to the weak."

After that conversation, I felt the heavy weight of responsibility and uncertainty about the future—but deep in my heart, a spark of determination lit up. I told myself, "I can't give up now. This is my one shot."

I headed toward the market, searching for work, and stood in front of a man pushing a small cart full of tools. I offered to help, and he told me the job would start at sunrise, around six in the morning, with a daily pay of ten dollars and a chance for a raise.

Nervous but hopeful, I accepted the offer.

But as night approached, I realized I had nowhere to sleep. The five dollars left in my pocket weren't enough to afford shelter in this new world. I wandered through the village alleys, asking if there was anywhere I could stay, but most homes were closed off.

A vegetable vendor told me there was a small inn near the village entrance, though it was a bit pricey, and that some people might let me stay if I earned their trust.

I made my way to the small inn at the edge of the village and stood hesitantly at the door. I knocked and quietly asked the innkeeper,

"Could I stay here tonight? I can pay five dollars for a night."

She looked at me coldly and replied, "We don't accept strangers like this. You'll have to find somewhere else."

Disheartened, I didn't give up. I walked toward the edge of the forest, weighing the few remaining options I had.

As the innkeeper's rejection settled in, I could feel the night's chill creeping in. I was left with only one choice. I made my way into the small forest that bordered the village, the thick trees forming a dark curtain.

I stepped carefully between the trees, looking for a safe spot to lie down.

Under a large tree, I found a small area covered with dry leaves. I gathered a few branches to make a simple bed.

Leaning back against the trunk, I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. The air was cold, and the night breeze brushed gently against my face. Loneliness and fear of the unknown began to creep into my thoughts, but I reminded myself—this was just the beginning, and tomorrow might bring new chances.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, ready to begin a new chapter in my life… in this new world .
