Episode 36: The Phantom Directive

---

Safehouse Omega — Command Room

The holographic map flickered red as Eve zoomed into the data feed.

"Twenty-seven strikes initiated across multiple continents. Same time. Same pattern. Civilian networks, defense grids, AI-driven traffic systems—all sabotaged."

Julian leaned over her shoulder. "They're not just activating old Ghost Net bases. They're weaponizing infrastructure."

Reese grimaced. "This isn't chaos. This is choreography."

Carter tilted the screen. "Look here. Every strike point connects back to a dead protocol: Phantom Directive."

Julian's eyes darkened. "I thought we erased Phantom."

"No," Eve replied. "We buried it. Someone just dug it up."

---

Berlin — 02:17 AM Local Time

A neon-lit skyscraper blinked once—then blacked out.

Inside, a robotics firm's research division froze as power cut, then surged unnaturally.

A glass wall shattered.

Out stepped a man with cybernetic implants across half his face.

He whispered into a comms link, "Berlin node secured. Override synced. Proceeding to next target."

Behind him, servers lit up. Files downloaded. Staff unconscious. Some missing.

---

Safehouse Omega — Armory

Julian strapped on tactical gear, checking each magazine twice.

"We're splitting into three squads," he said. "One heads to Berlin, the second to Seoul. The third—me, Carter, and Reese—will intercept the signal's origin point underground."

Eve passed him a transponder. "This'll trace and isolate the command source. But only if you plug in within five meters of the signal core."

Julian gave a tight nod. "Then we go through hell to get five meters closer."

Reese tossed a flash grenade into his bag. "Hell's never far when you're D7."

---

Underground — 15 Miles Beneath Zurich

Concrete tunnels turned to steel. Then, bone.

Carter shivered as they moved past a wall etched with names—code names.

"Looks like a tomb," he muttered.

Julian scanned the air. "No. This is a throne room."

Then they saw him.

Standing amid the ancient command throne, surrounded by dormant servers—Operator Zero.

He didn't flinch. He didn't speak.

He just raised his hand—

And the lights died.

---

Berlin — Rooftop Chase

Eve sprinted across a rooftop, her target agile, fast. Enhanced.

She launched a grappling line, hooked it, and yanked hard. The cyborg crashed into an AC unit.

She leapt, taser drawn—

But the agent only smiled and whispered, "Too late."

A second later, buildings across Berlin pulsed red.

Override had spread.

---

Zurich Underground

Julian dove for cover as gunfire erupted. Drones descended from the ceiling, wings sharp like razors.

Carter activated a jammer. "Signal scrambled for 60 seconds—make it count!"

Julian rushed Operator Zero, slamming the transponder into the core's base.

The override signal fought back—systems overheating, sparks flying.

Julian screamed through gritted teeth, "Pull it!"

Reese tackled the mainframe's interface, yanking the chip free.

Silence.

Then...

The system crashed.

Dead quiet.

---

Safehouse Omega — Hours Later

Global reports trickled in: systems rebooting, overrides terminated. Casualties minimal.

Julian collapsed into a chair. "It's over."

Eve stood at the window. "No… not yet."

She turned. "There were twelve activated agents. We only stopped five."

Reese's voice dropped. "Seven ghosts still out there…"

Julian stared at the glowing chip in his palm.

"And we're the only ones who can find them.

"
