Chapter 9 - Primal Night

Matt's pov,

As I walked into my room, I rummaged through my drawer for my phone, my heart sank when I saw the numerous missed calls from my coach.

I sighed, knowing exactly why he was calling. The game I had bailed on was probably still fresh in his mind and I couldn't blame him for being upset.

I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache brewing. I had been so caught up in the supernatural world that I had forgotten about my responsibilities as a player. Now I had to face the music and deal with the consequences of my actions. I hesitated for a moment before deciding to call my coach back, bracing myself for the lecture that was sure to come.

I raised an eyebrow as Caleb informed me that the pack was planning to gather to celebrate my first full moon transformation.

"They don't need to do that," I said, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the attention.

But Caleb shook his head.

"It's a big deal, Matt. The pack wants to welcome you and celebrate your growth. It's a tradition." I could see the sincerity in his eyes, and I knew I couldn't refuse.

"Okay, fine," I agreed, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. I had no idea what to expect, but with Caleb by my side, I felt more at ease. "Just tell me what I need to do."

Caleb grinned, seeming to relax now that I had agreed. "Just be yourself, Matt. The pack will take care of the rest."

Later that evening ,

As the pack gather at our usual spot to celebrate my first full moon transformation, Caleb stands besides me , a sense of pride and excitement radiating from him. The Mooncrest pack members gather around, their eyes shining with anticipation in the moonlight.

Caleb placed his hands on my shoulder, his voice filled with emotion.

"Tonight, brother, you become one of us. Forever bound to moon and pack."

the pack erupts in a chorus of howls, welcoming me to their ranks.

With a smile, Caleb presents Me with a wolf name ,"Kaelos," meaning "slate wolf" for my grey fur. He offers Me a tooth necklace symbolizing strength and gives me a gentle nip on the ear which signify as the alpha's mark of acceptance.

"Does everyone in the pack has a wolf name"?? I asked my brother Caleb curiously.

Then Caleb points to each pack member, as Matt listens intently, fascinated by the stories behind their wolf names. Luna, the wise and gentle one, is indeed fittingly named "Lunaria." Alex, the swift and agile beta, lives up to his name "Velox." Zephyr, the fierce hunter, is aptly named "Carnifex," and Axel's name "Astrum" suits his celestial nature and I korvus, the raven wolf known for my strategic mind.

Matt feels a sense of belonging among these strong and unique individuals. Caleb notices Matt's thoughtful expression and smiles, knowing that his brother is finding his place within the pack.

As the celebration went on, unnoticed another pack of werewolves attacked Caleb's pack to gain dominance over their territory. The Mooncrest pack is caught off guard, and chaos erupts as the rival pack launches a surprise attack.

Caleb, as the alpha, takes charge and rallies his pack to defend their territory. Matt joins the fight alongside his pack members. The battle is intense, with snarls, growls, and howls filling the night air.

The Mooncrest pack clashed with the rival pack, their bodies transforming mid-air as they lunged at each other. Claws swiped, teeth snapped, and growls echoed through the forest. Matt struggled to shift, his inexperience showing as he stumbled and faltered. A rival pack member, a towering werewolf with razor-sharp claws, charged at Matt, but Caleb intercepted, pinning the attacker to the ground.

Caleb's eyes locked onto the rival alpha, a snarling beast with eyes blazing yellow. The two alphas clashed, their jaws snapping wildly as they exchanged blows. Luna and Alex fought back-to-back, their movements fluid and synchronized. Zephyr darted between the trees, her agility allowing her to evade attacks with ease.

The battle raged on, with the Mooncrest pack fighting to defend their territory. Matt finally managed to shift, his wolf form erupting from his body as he joined the fray. Though clumsy at first, he quickly found his footing, his senses heightened as he snarled and bit at their attackers.

The fight rages on, Matt's instincts took over, and he unleashes a fierce snarl. With a powerful lunge, he tackles one of the rival pack members, his jaws locking onto the werewolf's shoulder. In a frenzy of teeth and claws, Matt tears the attacker apart, the sound of ripping flesh and snapping bones echoing through the forest.

The rival pack member lets out a blood-curdling scream, their body torn in two. Matt stands panting, his chest heaving with exertion, as the rest of the fight seems to slow around him. Caleb and the others pause, their eyes fixed on Matt in a mix of shock and awe.

The rival pack, demoralized by the brutal display, begins to falter. Caleb seizes the opportunity, pinning the rival alpha to the ground. "Yield," he growls, his teeth bared.

The rival alpha snarls, but ultimately submits, signaling their pack's defeat. The Mooncrest pack emerges victorious, their territory defended. As they catch their breath, Caleb approaches Matt, his expression a mix of pride and concern.

"Matt, are you okay?" Caleb asks, his voice low and gentle.

Matt nods, still panting, his eyes fixed on the carnage around him. He's not sure what he's capable of, but he knows he's stronger than he thought.

As the Mooncrest pack tends to their wounds, their regenerative abilities kick in, accelerating the healing process. The pack members slowly regain their strength, their bodies mending at an incredible rate.

Caleb surveys the pack, ensuring everyone is recovering well. Matt, still grappling with the intensity of the battle, looks on, his eyes reflecting a mix of emotions.

Luna approaches Caleb, her expression concerned. "Korvus, she called by caleb's wolf name. we need to be cautious. The rival pack may regroup and retaliate."

Caleb nods, his mind already racing with strategies to protect his pack. "We'll increase patrols and keep a close eye on our borders. We'll be prepared if they return."

As the pack continues to recover, they share stories of the battle, their bond growing stronger through their shared experiences. Matt listens intently, learning from the others and finding his place within the pack.
