Chapter 1 - 1

Pandas Deity - Chapter 1 (English Version)

"Dad... damn it, wake up." Her voice trembled. Broken.

Tears streamed down her face and fell on the bloodied stone slab.

The body before her was barely breathing.

His chest rose slowly, as if every breath was an unbearable weight.

Blood dripped out, slowly, into the cracks of the earth.

"You promised we'd make it... remember?"

A shattered whisper.

"You said you'd never leave me..."

Her hands clutched the broken chains on the boy's wrists.

Cold. Lifeless.

They lay on the ground like dead snakes, abandoned after battle.

All around, the world had collapsed.

Fragments of what once was floated in the dust.

Blurry shapes, broken forms, unfinished silences.

An unnatural light filtered from above, cutting through the darkness with red and golden reflections.

Then-footsteps.

Slow. Precise. Inevitable.

A figure moved through the ruins.

Long emerald hair swayed silently like suspended blades.

They walked with inhuman calm, without hurry, without emotion.

Every step erased noise.

Every step was judgment.

The girl turned.

In her eyes : tears and fury

Behind her, the body that had sworn to protect her no longer moved.

The figure stopped.

Sn istant of ubreak silence

Then, without expression, they murmured:

"What must happen.. happens."

And walked on.

Only silence.

Only the end.

EARTH, 2042 — a few years earlier

The sunlight crept into the room, slipping through half-closed curtains.

The alarm had been ringing for a few minutes already, but the boy in bed didn't seem to care.

Snoring filled the room, deep and steady, as he sprawled across the mattress, one leg hanging off the side, a bubble puffing from his nose.

In the next room, strange noises echoed: bubbling water, small scientific-explosive sounds.

A young girl was either playing... or studying.

The kitchen was her personal lab.

BOOM!

???: "Shit, I added too much again..."

A mad little mind mixed strange potions between steaming pots and glowing vials.

???: "Now just a bit of this and..."

Bubbles began to rise quickly, like tiny fireworks in a jar.

???: "Yes, that's it..."

The girl, wearing a lab coat way too big for her, grabbed a large science book off the table. With a focused expression, she began jotting down notes.

???: "Okay, I added potassium... then a pinch of phosphorus... and..."

She looked up at the clock: 8:50.

???: "CRAP! CRAP! CRAP!"

She started moving things aside in a panic, knocking over beakers and containers. One bottle tipped over, but she just shook her head.

???: "I'll clean later."

Whipping off the coat, she dashed into the other room where the boy slept.

Without hesitation, she shouted:

???: "Dad! Wake up!"

No response.

???: "DAD! WAKE UP!" She shook him hard, still nothing. So she leaned in close and screamed:

???: "YUKOOOOOO! WAKE UUUUUP!"

The whole house shook from her shout. The bubble on his nose popped. Yuko jolted awake.

Yuko: "Who's there?! How many are we?!" Groggy, he blinked at the girl and muttered:

Yuko: "Toria, why are you yelling like that?"

Toria. "Recause vou sleen like a rockl Get ready we're

The whole house shook from her shout. The bubble on his nose popped. Yuko jolted awake.

Yuko: "Who's there?! How many are we?!" Groggy, he blinked at the girl and muttered:

Yuko: "Toria, why are you yelling like that?" Toria: "Because you sleep like a rock! Get ready, we're late!"

Yuko: "Yeah yeah, I'm getting up..."

Toria: "I'm making scrambled eggs. Don't like it? Make your own next time." Yuko: "No no, it's fine!"

He lifted a slightly runny piece of egg and let it drop onto his bread

Yuko (thinking): Alright, that'll do.

He took a bite with a satisfied look.

Then he spotted the open milk carton Yuko: "Alright, at least some milk..."

He grabbed it, brought it to his mouth... nothing Yuko: "Come on! Are you kidding me? Toria, the milk's gone!"

Toria: "Has been for two days. You need to buy more." Yuko: "Then why the hell didn't you toss it instead of leaving it here?!"

Toria: "Because you could toss it yourself, y'know?" They locked eyes.

Then both quickly scarfed down their food.

Yuko (checking the clock): "Are you ready? We're super late. Let's take the bike!"

Toria (worried): "No way, Dad... you can't ride properly." Yuko (grinning like a champ): "What?! I'm lightning fast!

Come on, grab your stuff!"

Toria: "The house is a mess, you noticed?" Yuko: "Yeah yeah, move it, we're late!"

They bolted out the door, leaving behind disaster:

Pans on the stove, eggshells scattered, an empty milk carton—

Total chaos.

Yuko (locking the door): "Toria, got everything?" Toria: "Yeah... wait—"

SFX: BOOOM!

The door slammed shut behind them.

Yuko: "Too late. Let's go!"

Toria: "I'll climb back in through the window later..."

They both hopped on the bike. Yuko pedaled like a madman.

Toria (clutching his side and head): "Dad, slow down!

You're terrible at this!"

Yuko: "Don't worry! Trust me!"

Sudden swerve on the sidewalk. The wheel skidded on some gravel.

Toria: "Why are you wearing a black T-shirt?!"

Yuko (looking down): "Shit... I forgot my shirt! The boss is gonna kill me!"

Toria: "You're always daydreaming..."

They reached the school gate, skidded to a stop.

Yuko jumped off, tried to fix her jacket.

Yuko: "Hold on-"

Toria (slapping his hand away): "I've got it. I'm big now." Yuko: "Such attitude."

A voice rang out from afar:

??? (firm voice): "Sir! Stop right there!"

Yuko (thinking): Crap... shouldn't have let her see me...

He turned. It was the principal.

As always: neat suit, white hair tied up, with that Cold War general vibe.

She approached with military purpose.

Principal: "This is Toria's third tardy this week.

Unacceptable."

Yuko: "You're right, Principal. We had... an unexpected situation. I'm sorry. Won't happen again. Gotta go now." Principal: "Stop. Come to my office."

Yuko (already on the bike): "Next time! I'm in a rush!" He took off like he was being chased by cops.

The principal stood there, eyebrow raised.

Toria watched it all, sighed like someone used to disappointment.

She turned and headed to class.

Yuko (thinking): This principal's annoying... it's just a little tardiness. Not the end of the world.

Gotta hurry or today's gonna suck.

He sped through the crowd, ringing the bell:

Yuko: "Sorry! Excuse me! Coming through!"

Zigzagging past people, tires sliding.

Ahead, the light was green -briefly.

Click.

Red.

Yuko: "Shit... I can make it... I can make it!"

Pedaling like crazy.

Yuko: "Come on, come on!"

He darted into the intersection just as cars began to move.

SFX: HONK! VRRRRMMM!

Cars screeched, a motorcycle grazed him, a truck bellowed.

Yuko: "Oh shit! OH SHIT!"

Barely dodging everything, flying through like a stuntman.

Yuko (laughing): "Hehehe... I DID IT!"

Barely dodging everything, flying through like a stuntman.

Yuko (laughing): "Hehehe... I DID IT!"

He turned to look back, grinning like a champ— Yuko: "See that? Nothing can stop me, I-"

SFX: WHAM!

A tree. Full-on.

Yuko slammed into it and flew off the bike.

He lay there, hugging the trunk.

Yuko (groaning): "

...what a hit."

A sharply dressed lady approached quickly.

Lady: "Hey, are you alright?"

Yuko (jumping up, face red and scratched): "Yes yes, thanks... sorry, gotta go."

She stared, puzzled. Then walked away shaking her head.

Yuko got back on, wobbling a bit. Eyes watery.

He bit his lip.

Yuko (thinking): Damn... that hurt like hell.

Tears welled up. But not in public. He held them in.

Then turned the corner.

Yuko: "Ow... ow... Aghhh! It hurts!"

He paused. Where no one could see— the tears burst out.

Yuko (crying quietly): "Damn tree... it's been there forever.

Like it was waiting for me..."

He stared at the ground for a second.

Wiped his face with a sleeve.

Yuko: "Gotta move... gotta get to work."

He climbed back on, sore, and rode off.

Meanwhile, at school, Toria was having her break.

"Hey, Rhys!" called a girl, eyeing her.

Toria raised an eyebrow. She thought, "Here we go again.."

She turned fully toward her. "What do you want?"

Girl: "Did you cut your hair? Was it that loser dad of yours?"

Toria: "Yeah, I cut it. And no. What's your problem?"

Girl: "You were late again today... You know if you keep it up, they'll hold you back? Haha, what a loser. Dead mom and a dad like that..."

Toria: "Haha... maybe you should mind your own business?"

Girl: "Listen, half-pint, you need to learn some respect."

She stepped closer with a threatening look.

Toria rolled down her sleeves with a sharp glare.

Toria: "Come closer, and I'll show you what respect means."

They squared off, sleeves rolled, just a breath apart—

Driiin!

The bell rang suddenly.

They stared at each other a second longer, eyes locked with challenge.

Girl: "Pfit, lucky you!"

Toria glared, then turned and walked into class without a word.

Not far from there, Yuko had just arrived at work.

Yuko: "Finally... I made it. Just gotta sneak in... park the bike and keep a low profile."

12:37

He hopped off and parked it in front of the office building, locking it quickly.

Then-

Manager: "Mr. Rhys!"

Yuko: "Morning, Menny!"

Manager (Menny): "That's your third late arrival this week."

Yuko: "You're right... I had a few unexpected issues." Menny: "We all have lives outside this place, Rhys.

Doesn't mean we come late. Next time….. you're fired." Yuko: "Understood, Menny. Won't happen again."

He lowered his head and walked inside.

While climbing the stairs, he thought: "Crap... he caught me. Why is it so hard to be on time?"

At his desk, he sat down and started working.

A few minutes later, the coworker next to him leaned over.

Coworker: "Hey, Yuko... again, huh?"

Yuko: "Shut it... if Menny sees me, I'm toast."

He glanced around-Menny was watching him from the far side of the room.

The morning dragged on.

Yuko got up for coffee. His coworkers kept making jokes, but he didn't care.

He pulled out his phone and sent a text.

SMS - Yuko: How's it going?

Two seconds later-ping!

SMS - Toria: Same old... heading home on foot. Don't forget groceries. See you at home!

SMS - Toria: Same old.... heading home on foot. Don't forget groceries. See you at home!

SMS - Yuko: Got it...

He sighed, reading the texts.

No matter how rough work got, he knew his daughter would always be waiting

The day crawled by, and finally it was time to leave.

Everyone rushed to the exit.

Yuko was one of the last down the stairs. At the bottom— Menny.

Menny: "Rhys. We clear?"

Yuko: "Crystal, Menny."

He walked past with his head down as Menny watched sternly.

Yuko exited, grabbed his bike, and headed to the market near home.

He parked, locked it up, and stepped into the small neighborhood store—one of those places where everyone knows each other.

Yuko: "Hi, Mrs. Mary!"

Mrs. Mary: "Oh, hello Yuko! How are you?" Yuko: "Good, thanks. And you?"

Mrs. Mary: "At my age, can't complain."

He smiled and grabbed one of the squeaky little carts.

Muttering to himself as he wandered the aisles

"Milk... sauce... tomatoes..."

Each item mentioned, he picked it up.

Finished, he headed to checkout.

Mrs. Mary: "Where's the little one?"

Yuko: "Home. Probably doing homework."

Mrs. Mary: "You're lucky, you know? She's a smart one... just like her mother. No offense, hehe."

Yuko gave a soft smile.

Yuko: "None taken. It's true. Thanks again, see you soon

He packed the groceries on his handlebars and headed home.

Toria had already set the table: plates, cups, silverware...

The door creaked open.

Yuko: "Toria?! I'm home!"

Toria (from bathroom): "Yeah, I'm in here!"

He closed the door, dropped the groceries on the kitchen table, and started unpacking.

Toria joined him.

Toria: "What goodies did you get?"

Yuko: "All your favorites..."

Toria: "Mmm, pasta tonight?"

Yuko: "You bet!"

They cooked together, laughing and joking

Minutes later, they sat at the table eating peacefully.

Yuko took a pause and asked:

Yuko: "How was school?"

Toria: "Fine..."

(Her eyes darkened briefly, remembering the girl who bullied her.)

"Same old stuff. How was work?"

Yuko smiled, picturing his boss's rant.

Yuko: "Fine... same old stuff."

Toria brightened as she finished her plate.

Toria: "Since I studied today, can we watch a show tonight?"

Yuko: "Are you sure you studied?"

Yuko: "Are you sure you studied?"

Toria (mock-offended): "Want to check!?"

Yuko chuckled: "Nah, I believe you... Okay. But nothing mushy!"

Toria: "Hmm... fine!"

They quickly cleared the table and moved to the TV.

Toria: "Here it is!"

Yuko: "No mushy stuff."

Toria: "It's not."

Yuko: ""Love Among Stars'... doesn't sound mushy?"

Toria: "No no, it'll have some action!"

Yuko: "You little rascal."

He threw a pillow at her, laughing.

She fixed her hair and hit play.

They watched. Time passed...

The end credits played with a cheesy love song.

They'd both fallen asleep on the couch.

Yuko woke up, music still playing.

He turned to see Toria fast asleep.

He stood, gently picked her up, and carried her to her room.

Posters of science and medicine lined the walls.

He tucked her in, kissed her forehead

As he turned to leave, he spotted a family photo on her shelf.

He sighed and touched it softly.

Yuko: "Hi, Giù..."

He left quietly, closing the door behind him.

Back in the living room, he grabbed the remote.

Yuko: "Now for a good action movie... or a thriller. What time is it?"

He checked: 10:30 PM.

Yuko: "Still early!"

He flipped through channels.

Yuko: "Ta-da... this looks good. But first —popcorn!" He grabbed a pan, tossed in the kernels.

Tan... tan... tan... tan-tan…..

They popped loudly.

He poured them into a bowl, flopped back on the couch, and hit play.

Hours passed

The clock read 3:45 AM.

TV off.

Yuko snored on the couch, popcorn scattered everywhere.

Silence thick enough to feel.

Toria slept soundly.

Even the city outside seemed asleep.

Then, the glasses on the table started to tremble.

Popcorn spilled from the bowl.

The TV rattled slightly.

Yuko stirred, eyes half-open.

Yuko (groggy): "What the hell..?"

A strange red light leaked through the window.

Even the city outside seemed asleep.

Then, the glasses on the table started to tremble.

Popcorn spilled from the bowl.

The TV rattled slightly.

Yuko stirred, eyes half-open.

Yuko (groggy): "What the hell.?"

A strange red light leaked through the window.

Yawning, he walked to the curtain.

He pulled it aside with a tired hand...

And his eyes went wide.

Yuko: "What the hell is that?!"

A fiery streak cut across the sky.

A burning sphere sliced through the night.

Yuko: "Is that a meteorite?!

It's... it's falling close!"

The red trail passed over the hill behind their house.

But strangely-no sound.

Then the light vanished.

Everything stopped.

Only silence remained.

Yuko, frozen at the window, shivered

Yuko (thinking): "No impact?

No sound..?"
