Chapter 16 - Girl talk

I just sat there waiting.

Waiting.

I don't know how long I sat there waiting for her to wake up; all I knew was that this girl was a threat.

I could kill her now, end her life before she has the chance to know Stygy.

No... no... Charlie, remain calm. She doesn't mean anything to him—not yet, at least.

Hours passed, and she finally began to wake up.

She opened her eye and saw that she was currently on a soft red bed. She looked around the room for a bit to see where she was, until her gaze finally landed on Charlie.

She was just sitting in the corner, sitting and watching her while carving an apple with a kitchen knife.

"Um, hello? Sorry to bother you, but where am I?"

She didn't respond. She continued carving the apple into small slices and stared back at her.

The grey-skinned girl stared back at Charlie, not really knowing what to do in this situation.

So she got up from the bed and walked towards the door to try and leave, but before she could reach the door, a knife suddenly flew past her face, only missing her by a few inches.

"Ahh!! What was that for? Are you crazy?"

"Sit."

Vaggie was confused and looked around to see two chairs and a table in the middle of the room.

"That wasn't there before."

"Sit down."

The girl gulped and quickly sat down on the chair in the middle of the room. Charlie then got up, carrying the sliced apples with her, before sitting back down on the opposite side of the table.

"So... could you tell me your name?"

"Um... the name's Vaggie. You?"

"Charlie."

They continued to stare at each other for a second—Vaggie feeling awkward, while Charlie just continued to stare and judge her—until she suddenly spoke, breaking the silence.

"Eat."

Vaggie looked at the apple slices, weighing the risks of eating something that was possibly poisoned. But her thoughts were brought back to the knife that was thrown at her—and if she really wanted, she could have ended her right there.

She grabbed an apple slice and began eating it. It was really sweet—unnaturally sweet. Vaggie had no idea that the apples were personally grown from Lucifer's private garden.

Charlie broke the silence and asked Vaggie a variety of questions.

"So what happened to your eye?"

"Well, during the extermination, I was trying to save a child from an Exorcist, but by doing so, the angel stabbed me in the eye and pulled it out. And what's worse, they took my wings away from me."

Vaggie then revealed the stubs where her wings used to be.

Charlie felt a bit guilty at that moment. She was about to end the life of a person who was willing to risk their life to save a child.

Charlie grabbed her hand and held it—not with malice, but with compassion and understanding.

"It's okay. And I'm really sorry for threatening your life earlier."

Vaggie then smiled back at her, feeling the sincerity in Charlie's words.

"That's fine. It's not the first time I've had to deal with a blade."

They both let out a small giggle and began to talk about different things—like what their favorite food was, favorite movie, and favorite shampoo brand.

After a while, they got to fully know each other—though one seemed to hold back more about themselves to keep themselves safe.

Charlie then led Vaggie to the bathroom and helped her clean up.

An hour passed, and Vaggie was cleaned from all the filth she had been covered in. Charlie then rummaged around her closet, finding clothes that would suit Vaggie well.

She finally decided upon a red dress with a skirt for her to wear, and it looked great on her.

Charlie and Vaggie then walked towards the hotel's main lounge. They talked for hours about things they generally liked and what their interests were.

And Charlie, for the first time, was having so much fun with someone she could treat like a sister.

And Vaggie was able to slowly open up more about her past and what she was like when she was alive.

Especially Charlie, who was an only child and never got to experience what it was like to have a sister.

She thought of it for a moment and came to the conclusion that she wanted Vaggie to be her sister. But how could she achieve this?

Then, like lightning that struck Stygian's head when he was alive, an idea formed.

She could become Stygian's second girlfriend—and when they marry, she would legally be her sister.

Yes. This was the way.
