The next few days passed in a blur of meetings, paperwork, and phone calls. Sophia settled into her role as Ethan's secretary, learning to anticipate his needs and handle his demanding schedule carefully though most of them are tough , she didn't wanna be a nuisance just yet..
Despite his tough exterior, she caught glimpses of his dry humor and sharp intellectual self and also his seriousness when it came to business matters that was a big flaw not every boss has it .
One evening, as they were still workinglate on a project as usual it was already a habit to stay late at work , Ethan's phone rang.
He answered the call but not without much hesitation, his expression darkening as he listened to the caller.
Sophia watched quietly, sensing a shift in his mood it was visible notice able he didn't know how to hide expressions..
"sorry ,Excuse me," Ethan said with a mean voice , his tune changed too with this he stood up walk to office the window. "I need to take this."
Sophia nodded without uttering a word I mean it's not her business after all , she signed and turned over to continue her work .
But she couldn't help sneaking glances at Ethan, who stood silhouetted against the city lights, his voice low , urgent , demanding and carried the aura he always went around with which is authority.
For a moment, his mask slipped, revealing a flash of pain and vulnerability which Sophia noticed but she was too busy admiring his body statue , but Ethan got off the mood talking to the caller as if something affected someone important to him .
Sophia's heart went out to him. She had seen glimpses of Ethan's ruthless side, but this was different. This was a glimpse of the man behind the billionaire facade.
As Ethan finished the call, his expression hardened, and he turned back to Sophia. "Let's finish this project," he said, his voice crisp and professional once more not taking much glance at her which was weird ..
Sophia nodded without wasting time , pushing aside her curiosity about the call. But she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Ethan Blackwood than met the eye that she just experienced now .
As they worked, Sophia found herself stealing glances at Ethan, wondering what lay beneath his polished exterior. Was he truly as ruthless as his reputation suggested, or was there more to him?
whatever it was just a phone call nothing else and am already imagining nonsense.she wanted to snap out of it but she just couldn't do so ..
The question lingered in her mind, even as she packed up her things to leave. "Goodnight, Ethan," she said, heading for the door.
Ethan looked up, his eyes locking onto hers that was the second time today. "Goodnight, Sophia. Drive safely."
Sophia smiled, feeling a spark of connection. "I will Ethan, you too..."
As she left the office, she couldn't help but wonder what secrets Ethan Blackwood kept hidden behind his billionaire mask or perhaps she was just assuming something which wasn't that important ....
