With the severity of this battle being of a similar or greater level as the Behemoth, the suppression force went over the plan dozens of times before bothering to wake the monster. And then, they woke it up.
The ocean trembled, and sloshed, large mighty waves radiated outward in all directions. Rendering all regular class ships and rafts they had planned to use, well… useless. And then, as if to laugh in their faces, Leviathan rose from the depths, coiling its body both above and below the surface.
The massive tendrils off its head wriggled with violent intensity… Its body beneath the surface coiled and straightened, creating a giant whirlpool only the School District could withstand, not because it was stronger, no, it was because it levitated above the surface, and was thus not afflicted.
And finally, to announce its presence to defy the natural world, it roared. Shaking the very air in the immediate surroundings… The combinations of these forces created a gigantic storm at sea.
"It's like a typhoon, monsoon, or hurricane."
Refocusing on the targets that managed to persist in its full power, the Leviathan's gaze fell upon Maxim and the others.
For the first time ever, Maxim's skill activated on its own. This thing is much stronger than the Behemoth was… Two levels.
Similarly, Empress' skills activated on their own. It's much smaller than the walking mountain, Behemoth… But it definitely has the power to more than make up for the size difference. I'd give it an overall rating of 1 level higher… Which means, Shurry's skill might have been a reasonable choice to use here? No, we can do it. Even if it was 3 levels higher than the Behemoth. We can still take it down.
"Alfia, Gale, begin chanting. NOW!"
"Lyca, throw us into the fray!"
"Are you serious?... Alright then, here goes nothing. FETCH!" Lyca picked Empress up by her back armor, and waist, turned in circles to build momentum, and then fired her off like a ball out of a cannon, even making the loud boom sound to go with it. She then did the same for Maxim.
"Get the cannon ready to fire!"
A few seconds later… "Ready to Fire!"
"Aim at the coiled part, and FIRE!"
A magical laser beam fired out from the School District, it had been amped up with the repairs made the last two times, and thus, well, the ship went 360 degrees around as a result of the reactionary force.
A massive mark on the Leviathan's body, proof the weapon was at least half way decently effective in some way. However, it started to move, winding down its long body and disappeared under the water's surface.
Leon's eyes narrowed. "It learned from my last encounter with it… And it's far stronger this time…"
Zald sighed. "No, it's not stronger, Shurry's outer moon simply weakened it enough to while it was off its guard. You got lucky last time Leon."
"Listen I know we said for me to stay out of things, but I can't hold back now. Not with that thing targeting my god."
"I'm sure you'll do fine. Keep those two mages safe will ya?"
"Heh, I'd be worse than him if I couldn't do something like that.
Leviathan, not pleased with the current situation, used its head tendrils as massive whips, and charged up a breath attack of its very own… A thick, high pressure stream of water.
Maxim, and Empress used the tendrils as foot holds. Each demonstrating their prowess in keeping the freakish monster occupied. And occasionally dealing some truly serious damage to its body. Though, they were both already starting to lose stamina at an incredible rate… And now they were in a position they wouldn't be able to escape from, or lend help in time, they saw the monster fire its high pressure water attack.
Aiming right for the bow of the School District… Right where the others were, harassing the Leviathan with their attacks, doing little more than earning the monster's ire. It was too late to do much, but… Lyca prepared everything in her disposal to deflect the attack, getting a mess of buffs from anyone and everyone that one to give. Even Malik cast a buff.
"This won't be enough…"
"Quick, break this!"
She didn't understand but did so, Leon's magic began to activate, he was also being compounded with more buffs like Lyca. Then together they leaped up into the oncoming high pressure stream.
Lyca, being far stronger than Leon, had a much easier time diverting her portion of the stream, sending to the side, narrowly avoiding the School District.
Leon wasn't so lucky, he was able to divert it quite a bit, but the pressure from a full powered attack from the Leviathan was not something remotely simple to deal with… And it clipped above and below him, hitting the School District's main canon, rendering it useless.
Even so, once the water stopped, they landed back on the ship's surface. Lyca held Leon up so he wouldn't disgrace his effort just now, but he was in horrid shape.
"You did good Leon. That was your first time using that much strength, and your body managed to hold up. Not bad. You're almost as good as us."
"Heh, a compliment… Even though I'm in this kind of condition, it feels condescending. I didn't even do much."
"Oh, I wouldn't say that… Our heavy hitter has finally finished readying herself. Further amped up by the power of a tiny fairy, and the added buffs from our familia. Her spell will shatter this monster in one hit."
"The bell tolls."
Maxim, and Empress used this moment to push off the Leviathan, over to the School District. Just as they landed, Alfia's bell formed, Gale's barrier formed to protect everyone from the worst of the damage.
And a single toll was all it took… The leviathan's flesh, and crystal shattered… Becoming nothing more than a plume of dust on the ocean. Though… Its bones remained.
"Gather the bones, and bring them with us. We'll use them to seal the dungeon entrance below Melen." Poseidon familia's captain ordered. "You two see if the Zeus & Hera familias need any healing."
"We're fine, but Leon could use some emergency treatment." Maxim chuckled, laying down on his back, as the sun finally broke through the clouds once more. "That… Was exhausting…"
Empress, also laid down on her back, every muscle in her body ached. "Yep, but we did it."
"Yeah… It would have been easier if we had more solid footing. We probably could have defeated it on our own."
"Heh, keep telling yourself that. I'm gonna take a nap, right here, in the warm sunlight."
Neither of them let go of their weapons, despite how exhausted they were, opting to fall asleep before letting go of them.
"We're going back to Melen now. This ship won't be of any use against the last of the three monstrosities."
…
