By the time the three werewolves arrived at the edge of the forest the moon had begun to rise, in all of its serene majesty. For Lyca who'd experienced this numerous times through her life felt a wild rush take over, she removed her upper garments and folded them up while suppressing her beastification before she transformed into her beastly form, though she still stood upright on two legs. Shurry, another who's experienced transformations back and forth quickly transformed, feeling absolutely fantastic, and on all fours, though his transformation this time was slightly more humanoid, mirroring Lyca's form this time.
Neze, having been beastified maybe once or twice a year, at most, felt a rush welling up from deep within… I want to howl, I REALLY WANT TO HOWL! Hunt! But she couldn't howl for some reason. Something was suppressing it… There's another sensation… Why does that boy feel so different?
Lyca sniffed the air, and smirked. "There really is ample prey this time. They smell delicious." She licked her woven chops with anticipation, her hunger slowly rising to its apex.
Shurry was sniffing the air, drooling with each one. His belly grumbled loudly. "Hunt. Must. Eat."
Neze, with her senses enhanced with the unleashed power of the wild, her mind raced. So much food! UGH!!! Howl, come on! Come ON!!!! Her mouth also watered with a wild hunger erupting from her belly.
"Shurry, remember what I said a while ago?"
"Yes Aunty!"
"Go ahead and announce the start of our hunt…"
Shurry's body curled up, back arching into the air, hair stood upright, a rush of air flowed into his lungs, and then there was a brief moment of silence, no wind, no brushing of the leaves, the mood was silent… And then, he let it all out in one long howl to the moon, a song announcing the hunt.
I can howl!!! Neze realized she could howl and instantly did so in course with Shurry's howl.
Lyca giggled, and then added her own howl to the quire. The howls died down, Neze first, then Lyca, and then Shurry's. And not a moment later, the three charged into the forest, pouncing on any prey they found.
Small prey like squirrels were gobbled up in a single bite. Snakes devoured in sections. Larger wild creatures like boars were devoured in mere moments, the wolves fangs comped straight through the bones like they were made of mush. The hunger had finally begun to subside for Neze and Lyca. However… after having cleared out numerous good spots… Monsters upset about their game being hunted came out of the wood works.
Shurry, still hungry as could be, devoured the monsters with brutal efficiency. His hunger still at an apex the other two could scarcely comprehend. Soon bloodsauruses fell one after another, and Shurry's wolven chops were covered in blood, and his coat of fur was spotted with blood as well. He was clearly as hungry as could be.
Several hours later, the three were resting, as Shurry continued to finish up the last of the bold bloodsauruses, the rest were already gone… Lyca and Neze were still working on draining the marrow. When a man happened upon the three of them.
Shurry, looked up from his dinner, looked at the man, then continued eating. Indicating that the man was neither a bad person, nor a threat.
The man gulped. "Just my luck, why'd I have to get stuck with hunting on a night like this?!" The man complained.
"There should be some wild boars a little over that way. It's not far." Lyca spoke, feeling slightly bad for just how much they ended up consuming.
"Huh? Wait, so I'm safe?"
"You're not an evil person so yes." Lyca yawned. "It would be different if you did something evil. We're noble wolves, and would never harm someone who didn't deserve it."
"Oh… Uh… Alright…" The man decided to leave, but stopped for a moment… "There's a small creek around here you can use to wash up." He then left, heading in the direction that Lyca had pointed out. I have to find some food for the village.
By the time this conversation ended, Shurry had already finished eating, gone to hunt a boar, and brought it back for the man. A very rare occurrence for him. "I hunted this down, here." Shurry said, licking his chops. "Good man, deserves good, you're feeding your village." He tried to explain, but his instincts to eat were screaming. "Take it back with you."
"Uh, thanks… But, why?"
"You said we could use the creek. I return the favor. Trade done!"
Confused, the man decided to stop questioning it, and hoisted the boar up, demonstrating the strength it takes to live in a village, within a forest like this. \
Not long after he had vanished, the rest period was up, but Lyca had something to say. "You did good with that Shurry. It's best to get others out of our way before they get hurt by accident."
"Yay! Now, more prey!"
The hunt continued for another couple hours, only coming to an end when the moon's effect began to wane. The three of them ran to the creek, and washed off. Shurry and Neze both played like the puppies they were while in the creek.
Neze and Lyca eventually returned to their usual humanoid form. Neze realized why Lyca had removed her upper garments beforehand, since she was now a little bit more exposed, to which a spare cloth was wrapped around her…
"Next time, even if it is embarrassing at first, you really should remove the clothes that don't expand. Or bring some spare clothes with you."
"I'm too-" Neze started then looked at Shurry who was still in his wolven form. "How is he still in his beast form? Wait, he's completely turned into a little wolf, he's so cute. Also, how did he eat so much food?"
"Don't worry about him too much, he's special… Special to all of us werewolves. Something we haven't had since before the gods came down."
"Aunty! Look at me!" Shurry cheered, diving his face into the water, back up, only with a fish in his mouth.
Lyca waited to see what he would do with it…
Shurry brought it over and gave the fish to Neze. It was a fairly large one to be fair. "You have friends that can't hunt right?"
…
