"You've got good intel," Amir said, a little surprised. "Kain was supposed to be operating in secret."
Kain had only just let the information slip, and Seneir already knew—and had tracked Amir down.
"Once a secret gets out, it stops being a secret. Heh," Seneir said with a grin.
"So the Pykes know too?" Amir asked. If it had spread widely and the Pykes heard, then things would get messy.
"No, no—of course not. Only a few people know, and they're all trying hard to keep it from the Pykes," Seneir said, catching Amir's concern.
"So… you're planning to get involved too?"
"Heh. I can't say the thought hasn't crossed my mind. A Pyke spice storage base… tsk, tsk. Who can resist that? I'm calling to ask whether your information is accurate."
Seneir clearly wanted in.
"The intel is highly credible," Amir said. "But you really want to wade into it? It could turn into a huge firefight. The risk will be high."
He'd assumed this old coin-hoarder wouldn't be interested in something like that.
"Wade in, yes—but not that kind of wade in." Seneir gave a "you know what I mean" smile. "How about you come with me on a different run? If you're there, I won't have to worry about my safety."
"I'm not planning to get involved," Amir replied. "Once we put the message out, we decided to stay out of it."
"Of course I'm not asking you to fight criminals over spice." Seneir smiled again. "I'll take you somewhere else—pick up some good stuff."
"Good stuff?" Amir's interest was hooked.
"At minimum, the money won't be small. As for the rest… depends on what you like."
"Alright," Amir said after thinking. "No plans lately anyway. Call me when you move."
"Deal. I'll ring you again."
After ending the call, Amir didn't dwell on it. He went back to his cabin and slept.
The next morning, under Tatooine's twin suns, Amir started Force training again—mainly lightsaber training.
Through repeated sparring with Obi-Wan, Amir sharpened his technique and improved rapidly.
He was no longer limited to Form III. Obi-Wan had demonstrated the other forms for him and shared his own perspectives.
For a master like Obi-Wan, every form he used carried his personal style—tuned to his habits, shaped by battle experience. Amir learned a great deal from it.
He didn't spend the entire day training. During the hottest hours, Amir returned to the ship. He'd acquired a lot recently, and it was time to tinker.
He laid out a pile of metal ingots and looked first at the silver-bright beskar.
"Looks like this ship still needs a furnace…"
If he wanted to make anything, the first step was something he couldn't do alone: no molds, no furnace. Those hard ingots weren't going to become the shapes he needed.
After thinking it through, Amir decided he'd get one himself. He was always building small gadgets. Outsourcing forging was a hassle, and the ship still had plenty of room.
With that, Amir decided to head to Mos Eisley.
Millisyn clung to him relentlessly, so Amir had no choice but to bring her. No. 32 stayed in the hut, studying seriously.
The Traveler set down at the spaceport. Amir took Millisyn's hand and walked out.
This time, Amir pulled his hood up. He was still a wanted man—his face was on posters all over the notice boards.
Obi-Wan had recommended a place: a Jawa who specialized in "scrap."
As for Jawas… they were infamous.
This scavenger species roamed every corner of Tatooine. Larger clans drove massive sandcrawlers across the dunes, hunting wreckage they could sell.
They were short and ugly, wrapped in foul-smelling robes—greedy, sly—more than enough to make anyone hate them.
But that wasn't all.
As scavengers, they collected machine parts everywhere, and sometimes "machine parts" appeared in very "inappropriate" places—like on a brand-new ship.
A passing freighter, a visitor's skiff making a quick stop—blink once and their absurd talent for disassembly could strip a vessel clean, leaving only a skeleton behind. They were so reckless they'd even steal parts off Imperial fighters or rip a Pyke ship's thruster assembly—thank the Force the Empire never let them see the Death Star.
The one comforting fact was this: they dismantled, but they didn't sabotage. Even if your ship was stripped bare, as long as you caught them and met terms they liked, you could get your parts back.
Amir figured this trip wouldn't be wasted. Even if there wasn't a finished furnace, he could pick up usable components and build one himself.
After winding through the city into a back corner, the number of Jawas increased. Under filthy robes, pairs of yellow eyes—bent and wary—locked onto Amir and Millisyn, and the little bodies drifted closer.
"Beep-beep-beep—gurru, gak-gak-gak-gurra! (What are you here for, outsider?!)"
"I'm looking for Tika. Ben Kenobi said you've got quality goods," Amir said. He could understand a bit.
"Kak-gurra, kasa-ri-pi! (That's me. Follow!)" A Jawa waved them in.
"It stinks…" Millisyn pinched her nose.
"Just endure it," Amir said. He could smell it too. This was a Jawa trading spot. They brought stock here regularly, then roamed the streets to sell it—of course, selling was also part of restocking.
"What do you need?" Tika asked. Amir automatically translated.
"A furnace. Or furnace components," Amir said, looking around the chaotic room. There was everything here, but most of it was junk.
"What are you melting?" Tika asked. Different metals had wildly different melting points.
"Not your concern. Just give me the highest-quality thing you can get," Amir said.
"Highest quality? What, you think you'll find beskar to melt?" the Jawa muttered as he rummaged through piles of stuff.
Amir smiled but didn't answer. While Tika searched, Amir also started digging through nearby scrap, casually picking out usable parts to replenish his own inventory.
"Look at this!" Tika came over, dragging a huge cylinder behind him.
"Don't try to scam me with a busted rocket thruster," Amir said, glancing at it with disgust.
