Chapter 8 - Chapter 49- More Intimidating than an Older Brother

Thud!

An audible sound echoed from behind the bedroom door, which sounded like something falling to the ground.

After a moment, An Mo and Xai Lin heard chaotic sounds of things falling on the ground, followed by a hoarse voice.

"Co-Coming!"

Not long after, the sliding door was slid open revealing Su Jin's figure. He was shirtless, only wearing a white undergarment below. Standing at the doorway, he was slightly hunched over with his dishevel hair sticking out in several directions. His eyes were extremely bloodshot as well, and dark circles were prominent under his eyes. Set against his pale face, he looked like a corpse that had just been resurrected.

Xai Lin's eyes couldn't help but widen at the sight of Su Jin's appearance, while An Mo's brows furrowed.

"Elder Sister Xai Lin, Elder Brother An Mo, is there something you need?"

Su Jin dazedly asked upon seeing the two at his door.

An Mo, who still had a frown on his face, open his mouth about to speak, but Su Jin seemed to have remembered he was barely wearing any clothes. His pale face gained a bit of color as he blushed and jumped behind the door to block his body while leaving his head poking out.

"I-I apologize, I didn't realize I was like this before I opened the door. Please wait a moment, I'll go get dressed."

After awkwardly saying this, Su Jin went to closed the door to change, but An Mo called out.

"Wait!"

An Mo stepped forward to hold the door in place before Su Jin could close it.

Staring at Su Jin with a serious expression, An Mo asked.

"Why do you look so haggard? Even a corpse wouldn't look as dead as you in the morning. Didn't you get enough sleep?"

"Could it be you weren't used to the change in environment and wasn't able to sleep properly?"

Xai Lin also voiced a question, her small face scrunched up into a frown as well.

Su Jin's appearance was just too awful, she was worried she might have neglected this kid, which resulted in this outcome.

"I—"

Su Jin was a bit taken aback by the questions. He stared at An Mo and Xai Lin, who were looking at him with furrowed brows, not knowing what to say for a moment.

However, An Mo spotted something in the room.

"Step aside, don't block the door."

Hearing An Mo's words, Su Jin subconsciously stepped back from the door.

An Mo slid the door fully opened and reveal the entire room that had been slightly blocked before.

The room wasn't much different from their own; however, at the moment, room floor was covered in piles of books. In the middle of the room where the piles were more dense, was a circular space that had dozens of books opened.

Meanwhile, several books were scattered on the ground from different piles and created a path from the small space to the doorway.

Upon seeing the state of the room, An Mo and Xai Lin had different reactions.

An Mo's expression darkened by several shades, while Xai Lin pursed her lips with a guilty expression on her face.

An Mo turned to look at Su Jin, who was nervously standing by the side, and his dark expression frighten Su Jin so much he shivered and almost took a step back.

However, Su Jin managed to stop himself in time and stand obediently in place.

"Were you reading these books for the entire night without sleeping?"

An Mo asked—his golden eyes staring intently at Su Jin.

Feeling both nervous and guilty, Su Jin lowered his head and began pinching his fingers.

"I—"

He tried to speak, but he was so nervous he could hardly get the words out.

An Mo was a full head taller than him and seemed to be even older than his brother. So, when his expression darkened like that, Su Jin was extremely intimidated. Even though his brother had never gotten angry at him before, Su Jin guessed that he wouldn't feel as nervous as he was now. Even if his cultivation realm was a minor realm above An Mo's own, he didn't dare talk back to him or make excuses.

"An Mo, wait, I am somewhat responsible for this."

Xai Lin suddenly spoke up in Su Jin's defense while tugging on An Mo's sleeve.

"What do you mean?"

An Mo asked, his expression easing up a bit, however, it was only by a bit.

Looking over at Su Jin, who had his head lowered, Xai Lin said with a sigh.

"Last night, I had Little Bai transfer all of the books about Weapon Artifact Refining from the library to Little Jin's room. But I underestimated the amount and must have disturbed his sleep."

An Mo pursed his lips, and said.

"Even so, it's not as if you held a sword to his neck and force him to stay up all night reading. Plus, he's in the Foundation Establishment Realm, so for him to get like this in one night, it meant he wasn't just reading these books, he was forcefully transcribing them into his Sea of Consciousness to memorize their contents. Just one look at him, and I can tell his Sea of Consciousness is very strained. If he did any more than this, he would fall into a coma and wouldn't wake up for several days."

An Mo's golden eyes glowed faintly as he turned to stare at Su Jin's forehead. In the vision of his Heavenly Dao eyes, he could see the current state of Su Jin's soul and called tell his outward haggard appearance showed just a fraction of what was going on in his Sea of Consciousness.

Upon hearing this, Xai Lin felt even more guilty, but also agreed Su Jin had acted recklessly, so she didn't speak up for him anymore.

With a stern attitude completely different from how he was with Xai Lin, An Mo stepped into the room passed Su Jin. Looking around at all the books, he turned to Su Jin and asked.

"Do you have a way to store these books away."

Su Jin hurriedly lifted his head and nodded, before stepping forward to wave his hand toward the pile of books. In the blink of an eye, the room was cleared of all the books.

An Mo couldn't help but look at the dark red bracelet around Su Jin's wrist and recalled how Xai Lin had made things appear with a wave of her hand. This type of Spirit Artifact wasn't within his Legacy Memories, but he figured it had some kind of storage space.

An Mo's curiosity was piqued, and he had the urge to use his Myriad Dao Eyes to see if he could bypass the runes and look into these storage artifacts, but he suppressed this impulse as this wasn't the time.

Suddenly, Su Jin's figured swayed as if he was about to fall over.

An Mo reacted quickly and steadied him. With a stern expression, he reprimanded.

"Look how you've become, you've barely mobilized your soul power but you're about to fall over!"

Su Jin lowered his head, not daring to say anything.

"Give him this."

Xai Lin said as she took out a Top-grade medicinal pill.

An Mo took it and then hold it up to Su Jin's lips while saying.

"Come on, eat this and you'll feel better."
