Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: She's Your Wife?!

The nurse, knowing she had been coaxed into speaking, blushed with embarrassment. She looked around at the accusing faces, pointed at Aurelia Shaw, and raised her voice: "You are also a woman clinging to a sugar daddy, thinking you are so noble? I deliberately missed the vein with the needle, so what! I just can't stand you foxes!"

The crowd buzzed in shock, not expecting her to actually do such a thing. They were frightened by the thought, but after hearing her words, their eyes on Aurelia Shaw carried a hint of scrutiny and suspicion.

Aurelia Shaw's eyes turned cold immediately. She looked at the nurse and asked sternly, "Since just now, you have been accusing me of clinging to a sugar daddy. Did you see it with your own eyes, or does anyone have solid evidence to prove that I sold my body for money?"

"No?" Seeing the nurse silent, Aurelia Shaw sneered with sarcasm, "As a nurse, instead of taking good care of patients, you are making baseless assumptions, fabricating facts, and deliberately slandering patients. Such a person as you do not deserve to be in this profession, tarnishing this noble career!"

One looked down in silence, while the other slightly lifted her chin. Though she appeared somewhat arrogant, her words were logical and well-founded, and anyone with discerning eyes could easily distinguish the truth from falsehood.

"A person like you still has the nerve to be a nurse! Ugh, who would trust a patient to you?"

"Exactly! You are unfit to be a nurse! Get out of the hospital!"

"Get out!"

Voices repeatedly echoed in agreement.

Mason Nightshade returned to the ward after his phone call, seeing many people gathered and discussing something loudly. From their conversations, he pieced together parts of the incident.

"What's going on?" Mason Nightshade frowned as he walked in, his deep and authoritative voice making the onlookers automatically part and give way for him to enter.

The atmosphere inside was somewhat heavy. Mason first looked at Aurelia Shaw, his gaze sweeping over her and noticing her injured hand. His brow furrowed deeply, and he strode over to her, questioning the nurse, "What is this about! What did you do to my wife?!"

"I... I..." The oppressive force emanating from the man made the nurse panic, and she blurted out: "I accidentally made an error... Misplaced the needle. Your... your wife..."

Wife?!

The nurse's eyes widened suddenly, looking at Mason Nightshade. After a few seconds, she glanced at Aurelia Shaw on the hospital bed, whose face looked slightly pale, with disbelief in her eyes.

"She is... your... wife?"

"Is there a problem with that?"

Mason Nightshade glared at her fiercely, anger flashing in his eyes, scaring the nurse into silence.

Her mouth was agape, unable to close in shock.

Recalling how she had confidently accused Aurelia Shaw just now, even abandoning her professional integrity out of jealousy to deliberately miss the vein with the needle...

At this moment, those actions felt like slaps to her face, leaving her flushed with shame, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into.

Being sharp-minded, Mason Nightshade, didn't need to ask any more to guess what had happened from the nurse's reaction.

What he heard from people outside just now was indeed true!

A surge of anger rose in his chest; Mason Nightshade's gaze became uncontrollably icy as he glared at the nurse, his deep eyes piercingly cold.

"A work misstep, tarnishing my wife's reputation—I'll personally discuss this matter with your hospital director. As for you? If you have any sense of shame left, disappear from here immediately."

The nurse turned and met the condemning eyes of the crowd, unable to face staying there any longer, hurriedly pushed through the crowd, and left.

With the commotion gone, the onlookers dispersed quickly, and the room returned to silence. Mason Nightshade and Aurelia Shaw remained, one standing and one lying on the bed. Mason's gaze deepened as he quietly watched Aurelia, his eyes assessing and gauging.

Aurelia allowed him to look, ignoring him, as she picked up a newspaper from the table and flipped through it. Suddenly, she saw something and frowned.
