Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 (The Castle of Wulkeria (1))

Scene 1

After my call with Police about DA, I was heading to bed when a notification pinged on my phone.

It was an email.

Subject: Invitation

From: Bruce W.

> Dear Ron,

We are holding a gathering this Saturday. All major and high-ranking individuals are invited.

Please honor us with your presence and join us for dinner.

Location: XXXX, XXXX

– Bruce W.

Bruce W… One of the richest men in the world. I'd heard of him. Probably found out about me through Carter's department.

Saturday… that's the day after tomorrow.

Saturday – The Gathering

I entered the grand mansion where the gathering was being held. The place was buzzing with power—politicians, generals, innovators. I sensed something strange in the air.

I passed by familiar faces:

Captain White, head of Carter's department.

Mr. Jake, the mastermind behind futuristic tanks and advanced weaponry.

Mr. Bryan, the world-renowned healer.

And of course, Dr. Thomas, my mentor.

I grabbed a drink and scanned the room. In one dark corner, partly hidden from the light, stood a large man in a white shirt and black pants. His face was veiled in shadow.

Before I could study him further, a voice called from behind.

"Welcome—if it isn't Sir Ron."

I turned. It was Bruce W. himself, shining with charisma and charm.

Carter and Police (Locki) had also arrived and made their way toward us. We teased Carter a bit—finally falling in love, huh?

"Welcome, Mr. Carter and Mr. Locki. Thank you for gracing us."

We exchanged greetings.

"I see Carter and Locki often," Bruce smiled. "But I've heard a lot about you, Mr. Ron. One of the youngest among the world's richest."

"No, no," I chuckled. "It's an honor to be invited here. Can you show me around?"

"Of course," he said, gesturing politely.

He led me through his mansion, showcasing his tech—solar simulators that converted sunlight into energy, among other futuristic inventions.

He subtly hinted at investment opportunities, but I told him I'd need time to think.

As the party wound down, we exchanged contact info.

Carter and I decided to stay in town a few days to explore. That night, I stood on my hotel balcony, admiring the view. Then I spotted something below—

A gang of criminals was beating someone in an alley.

I covered my face with my skull mouth mask, teleported silently, and landed in front of them.

"Who the hell are you?" one barked. "You don't look like him. You his sidekick?"

Before I could respond, a shadow fell over us. I looked up.

A man stood atop a structure—dressed like a superhero. In a flash, he leapt down and launched a powerful kick. I dodged, but one of the thugs behind me got hit—and went flying unconscious.

Panic took the rest of them. They scooped up their fallen comrade and bolted.

Then the superhero turned to me—and attacked.

He was fast. Every move screamed trained. He wasn't just in peak physical condition; he was a martial arts genius.

I dodged without using powers. I'd spent most of my time since awakening training, meditating, perfecting my body and mind. This guy... was like me—only without powers.

"You're strong," I said. "Let's see if you can handle me."

We clashed. No powers—just fists and grit.

He was good. Nearly equal in combat. I had the edge in experience from fighting monsters. We traded hits. Gave as much as we got.

Scene 2

We stepped back... then charged.

One final strike.

CRACK!

Our fists collided—and our masks fell.

He stared at me.

"Mr. Ron?"

I stared back.

"Mr. Bruce?"

I exhaled. "So the rumors were true. There is someone who protectd this city"

"I didn't expect you to be this strong. Come with me." Bruce spoke

To Bruce's Secret Base

We arrived at an abandoned skyscraper. Bruce pressed the third bell.

After a few seconds—click. An underground passage opened.

We slid down into a hidden base.

Screens, supercomputers, futuristic weapons—things I'd never seen before. I walked deeper, past stairwells and chambers filled with tools and tech. There was a gym with insane gravity settings. A training zone.

Bruce called my name and handed me a cup of tea. We sat.

"You look like a normal guy, Bruce. But you're stronger than most powered people."

"I believe in justice," he said. "In protecting the weak. That's why I fight."

"I push myself every day," I replied. "But I also have powers."

He raised an eyebrow. "So it's true. You're a power user. I thought that was all myth. Is Carter one too? That'd explain his insane strength and stamina."

"No," I said. "Carter isn't a power user."

Bruce looked stunned.

"Then he and Locki are the strongest humans I've ever seen."

I leaned forward.

"Bruce... I need your help. Do you know someone named David Degg—or DA?"

His eyes widened.

"DA?" He looked genuinely afraid.

"Please," I said. "Anything you know might help. He doesn't exist in any records."

Bruce leaned back, eyes dark.

"Two decades ago, my family was killed by a strange cult. I was just a kid. Someone saved me—but I fainted. When I woke up, I faked unconsciousness. I saw a coffin. And a man standing beside it—talking on the phone.

He mentioned DA. Said something about stealing it from the organization. That coffin... they were after it."

(Ron thinking)

A cult? A coffin? A stolen object?

What was DA's connection?

Bruce searched online for the story. The official version said divers found two empty coffins underwater, and the government disposed of them.

But Bruce remembered one coffin—and an organization hunting it.

Someone was lying.

"I'll have my team look into it," Bruce said.

I nodded and left the base.

Something big was hiding beneath the surface—and DA was in the middle of it.
