Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 (Zombie Apocalypse (2))

Scene 1: The Fall of Hero Town

The entire sky turned into a chaotic blend of purple, green, and black. The world had fallen—an unstoppable zombie apocalypse swept across the planet.

Bruce's old house became the final refuge. It was infamous for its futuristic defenses and unmatched security systems. Everyone in Hero Town—and even far beyond—rushed toward the towering, 10-story building with three underground levels. Those who had no other means of protection pinned their hopes on Bruce's house.

Ron and his wife, Dream, arrived first—airlifted by a helicopter provided by Bruce. They landed on the rooftop of their home. Carter and Lia, meanwhile, rushed to their department, which was already under siege.

Zombies swarmed like ants—endless in number.

Ron, wielding his Blade of Vengeance, tore through the horde. Beside him, Dream unleashed her mysterious powers, disintegrating zombies down to their very atoms.

"Go to Bruce's house," Ron urged her mid-battle.

But Dream smiled. "I'll protect our home."

Ron smiled back, gently patting her head. Then, he vanished—teleporting to his underground workout area, filled with stocked vehicles, weapons, and supplies. Ron had built it from memories of a mysterious figure who had once shown him something similar in childhood. He climbed into one of the vehicles and set off to retrieve the cracked magnifying glass.

Meanwhile, Carter and Lia arrived at their department building—only to find it in ruins. Ninety-nine percent of their people had already turned into zombies. Only a few survivors remained, desperately fighting back.

Lia, a gifted telekinetic, hurled zombies with invisible force.

Suddenly, a voice echoed in her mind:

"Come to my house. Bring the injured. I am Dream—Ron's wife."

She turned to Carter. He was about to respond, but the second wave of zombies hit.

These weren't like the first. They were taller. Faster. Deadlier.

"You have to go," Carter insisted. "Take the injured and survivors. I'll hold them off."

"I'm not leaving you," Lia said, tears forming in her eyes.

"We don't have time! The infected will turn soon. We can still save a few lives."

He patted her head.

Up on the 8th floor rooftop, the department head was coordinating a defense. Bullets rained down. Lia was forced aboard a helicopter. She cried out for Carter, but the blades drowned her voice.

Carter fought bravely—but the second-wave zombies could leap 11 kilometers in a single bound. He was overwhelmed.

One giant zombie—easily the size of a small building—leapt at him. Carter dodged, and the creature's fist shattered the department tower behind him.

Now surrounded, Carter prepared for a last stand.

Back at Ron's home, Lia arrived with survivors. The house was untouched. Zombies stood outside, unwilling to cross an invisible line. A strange gravitational barrier, like a black hole, surrounded the building—Dream's doing.

Any zombie that crossed the threshold was crushed and sucked into nothingness.

Inside, Dream welcomed them. Her eyes glowed red as she healed the infected with her palm. Within seconds, the injured were not only cured—but enhanced. Faster. Stronger.

But Carter... was losing ground. The leader of the second wave—a towering zombie that had collapsed the building—stepped forward and raised its arm.

The third wave had begun.

These new zombies were twice as powerful.

Before Carter could react, the leader's head was severed in an instant—along with dozens around him.

A man in a mask appeared, holding an old cane.

"Who are you?" Carter gasped.

The masked man raised his cane—and with a wave, obliterated the remaining zombies. Carter tried to speak, "Excuse me? Sir—"

WHACK!

The cane struck Carter's forehead. He blacked out.

The man vanished into thin air.

At Bruce's house, the defense system roared to life. Iron walls rose from the ground, electrified. Miniguns emerged from hidden panels, cutting down anything that moved. Security bots patrolled the grounds. No zombie could enter.

Lia returned again and again, bringing more survivors to Ron's house. Humans could pass through the barrier—zombies could not. Dream continued healing and protecting all who arrived.

Meanwhile, Ron reached Bruce's old family estate—now infested. As the scent of death filled the air, Ron grinned.

With a wave of his hand and the power of Black Sorcery, he wiped out the entire swarm.

Inside, among the debris, he found the cracked magnifying glass. Purple fog hissed from its fractures.

He stepped into it—and was instantly transported to Dr. Thomas's world.

"Hey, Doc—what the hell is going on in Hero Town?" Ron demanded.

Dr. Thomas frowned. "Ron, if you had triggered it, I might have helped. But... it wasn't you. It was Akira."

"What? Akira did this?" Ron asked, shocked.

"Yes. This magnifying glass wasn't meant for humans. That skeleton entity was waiting for a chance to escape. Akira gave him that chance."

"That skelly dude… I knew something was off."

"The moment the fog leaked, the creature took form and spread the infection. That's what caused the zombie apocalypse."

Ron's voice was grim. "So how do we stop it?"

"You can't," Dr. Thomas replied. "Unless… you can change the past—stop Akira. But if you try time travel, find me again in the new timeline. There is… one other way—"

Suddenly, everything turned black.

Ron fell—spiraling into the void.

CRASH!

He hit something solid.

Before him stood Carter—but not the Carter he knew.

His eyes glowed a deep purple. A terrifying, dark aura pulsed from his body.

He was destroying everything in sight.
