Chapter 145 - Chapter 143

Kaito walked up to the nearby stall and saw that it was a typical knock down the cups game to win prizes, all of which were inside a box with an opening at the top.

The moment both of them got closer...

"Die! you, Son of a b..."

WHAM!

At the sudden object that jumped out of nowhere toward Shiho, before she could even get scared by how sudden it was, Kaito kicked it and sent it flying into the distance, disappearing from sight in less than a second.

"T-that was..." Shiho was shocked by everything that had just happened in less than two seconds. She had barely seen what attacked her, but even that brief glimpse had left her stunned, making her think she was hallucinating.

After all, the strangest thing Shiho had ever seen was Kaito.

After that, the holders of the Death Note, the Geass, and the Nameless Mirror were normal humans, and she had never seen the owners of the Lechermand Cube.

"It was a doll," Kaito nodded.

"But it attacked me," Shiho said in disbelief.

"It was a cursed doll."

"A cursed doll?" Shiho repeated. "Alright, I do not know why I am surprised. Is it dead?"

After convincing herself that, compared to Kaito, that thing was not that impressive, she asked that.

At her question, Kaito let out a soft laugh, as if the very idea offended him.

"Do you know how fast I move? The only reason it did not explode into a thousand pieces on contact is because of one of my abilities. But with the speed it was sent flying at, even a person would die, let alone a doll made of plastic and cotton," he explained.

"But a cursed doll sounds like a dead person who put their soul in it, right?"

"That is right."

"And the thing from last time, you said it was the ghost of a dead person wandering for revenge in dreams, which is also a soul. Whoever is sending these things must have something that can manipulate souls. Even if you destroy their body, what happens to their soul?"

'System,' Kaito asked without even thinking.

[Completely dead.]

'Good.'

Kaito nodded. Based on the movie, Chucky needed a body for his soul. As long as his body died, his soul would die too. That was why he kept transferring himself over and over.

Even so, after what Shiho said, he thought about it for a bit and decided to check.

"Do not worry, it is dead."

'Although there could be other dolls where part of his soul went,' he thought, remembering Cult of Chucky, but he did not say it out loud.

Shiho looked at him strangely, but decided to leave those things to him.

"So? Where are we going now?" she said, changing the subject.

"Well, I was planning to go after the next one, but..." Kaito smiled meaningfully. "It seems that will not be necessary."

At the same time he said that, something with far too many coincidences happened.

A nail that was halfway out of the stall in front of them completely came loose, causing the whole stall to tilt to one side and fall in their direction.

Kaito easily threw it away using wind magic, but that also sent the nail flying, which popped some nearby balloons and scared some children.

The children started crying, which frightened some nearby horses and made them lose control. A gate that someone had forgotten to close opened, and one of them ran straight toward their direction.

Kaito used pressure to push it away, making the horse change course and head toward an area with many mobile stalls.

One of the owners, seeing it coming, panicked and accidentally knocked over his cart, which had been missing a wheel due to other circumstances.

It was a French fries stall, so the oil spilled in front of all the carts.

The horse passed through the area, forcing all the owners to let go of their stalls without even setting the brakes.

At the same time, in the stall Kaito had thrown earlier, a piece of wood with a loose nail ended up forming a lever. When one part fell, the central board shot out and the nail flew toward a nearby inflatable.

The inflatable was close enough that all the air that escaped through the hole, enlarging it even more, pushed the carts, which slid easily over the oil toward Kaito and Shiho.

Kaito froze them in place so they would not move anymore.

However, for some strange reason, the oil on the ground caught fire.

Luckily, his ice was much stronger than normal ice, so the fire did not melt it and went out instantly, which was a bit anticlimactic.

Meanwhile, the loose horse headed toward a ride that consisted of a large wheel spinning in the air like a maraca.

Before anything could happen, Kaito grabbed the horse and returned it to its cage, closing it and melting the lock to weld it shut.

This action surprised the operator, who accidentally pulled a lever, making the wheel spin far too fast.

The machine, which was already broken, started spinning so much that it separated from the rest and flew off, forming a large arc in the air toward Kaito and Shiho.

Amid the crowd's screams, Kaito rose up and grabbed the wheel by its center with one hand, making sure it kept spinning before slowly stopping it with wind magic in the opposite direction.

BAM!

Then he gently placed it on the ground.

But while he was doing that, the structure supporting the wheel also flew off and crashed into the Ferris wheel, causing it to come loose and head toward them again.

"Ugh..." Kaito sighed, somewhat surprised.

He ran toward it and quickly took out all the passengers before raising two large pillars from the ground that pierced through it and stopped it.

Even so, the rest of the people panicked and started running in all directions.

Several crashed into Kaito, but he did not care.

He looked at Shiho and saw that she had been pushed, slipped on the oil, and was about to crash into a huge spike sticking out of the ground for who knows what reason.

Kaito appeared beside her instantly and held her in his arms, lifting her up.

At that moment, the ground beneath them collapsed, revealing the sewer, where several pipes were broken.

Gas was coming out of them and collided with the inflatable's air system.

Since they met in opposite directions, a small tornado of gas and air formed, which was ignited by a nearby cigarette and went straight toward Kaito as if someone were directly manipulating it.

Kaito used water magic to wrap it in a huge bubble of water and extinguish it.

At the same time, he used earth magic to repair the ground and create a reinforced cylindrical duct to replace the pipe.

In the middle of all that, the only ride that was still working was a nearby flying ship.

As he expected, several small key parts came loose and flew toward them at high speed like tiny bullets, almost invisible but still lethal. Kaito caught all of them with one hand and put them in his pocket so they would not cause more accidents.

The people inside the ship were thrown out first, forcing Kaito to get distracted as he had to catch each one and lower them to the ground one by one.

When he finished, a huge shadow covered him. The rest of the ship fell on top of Kaito, but he simply held it and slowly lowered it with wind magic so it would not break any further.

Then, the two huge iron bars that supported the ship and had kept moving all this time shot toward them.

Kaito dodged one and caught the other with his free hand, then threw it at a specific point in the air.

Suddenly, everything stopped.

The accidents stopped happening.

"I-is it over?" Shiho asked, clinging to him.

As if it were a switch, a nearby electric pole broke and the cables shot toward them like whips.

Kaito moved quickly and caught them with his free hand.

He felt the electricity running through him, but controlled it with his own magic before it could reach Shiho.

"Are you seriously still trying?" he asked, more mockingly than doubtfully, looking toward where he had thrown the metal before.
