Chapter 1 - Prologue

"How long has it been since I last felt the rain on my skin?"

A scrawny looking youth was standing under a large willow tree with nothing to shield him from the falling raindrops but some dull and ragged garments.

His short black hair swayed in the forceful wind as he gazed upon the vast plains from the hill he was on. His unremarkable black eyes had a vacant, lifeless look. Everything about this youth suggested he was a worthless mortal fated to live and die in obscurity, except one thing.

His stance!

Anyone who looked at him would first notice his straight back that showed off the pride engraved in his bones which no amount of ordinary features could conceal. This was the demeanor of an expert that could only be gained through countless life-and-death battles, something that only those standing at the very top of this world could achieve!

"It appears that I have... Lost?..."

"It should be the work of that old geezer. Hmph, it was time he repaid his debt after all."

The mysterious youth looked at his callused hands with a scornful gaze as he clenched them, his nails digging into his skin.

"This weakness, it is only temporary. This time... This time I will succeed and root out the Divine Realm!!!"

Suddenly, the clouds struck with lightning around the boy as if it was warning him of his ambitions. He paid no heed to it while the desolate aura around him vanished, being replaced with the irredeemable pride of the one and only Heaven Piercer, Xuan Feng!

"In this life, I will bring the Divinities on their knees, I will have the head of the Divine Emperor!"

The sky boiled with rage while thunder rang out incessantly, threatening to strike him down.

"You dare, lousy Heaven Spirit?! Come strike me down if you have the balls!"

He shouted to the sky, as if he had gone mad. As expected, there was no response. However the storm mysteriously cut off, as if heaven itself was afraid of the power of the soul inside of a puny human...

----------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in an insignificant realm, on a small planet called Earth by the locals...

----------------------------------------------

Inside a hidden military base in the United States:

"M-Miss Merry?!"

The door into a laboratory, filled with state-of-the art military grade technology swung open before a bald, middle aged man equipped with enough weapons to fully arm 5 men came rushing inside, his fingers ready to pull the trigger on his pistol.

Inside the room filled to the brim with scientific equipment that could buy a small city if sold, there laid a GameStation controller, smashed into pieces, next to a green bean bag that was currently being punched by a young woman in her twenties wearing a lab coat.

"What are you doing in here Rudolph? I thought I told you not to come in without explicit permission."

The woman calmly stood up in front of the giant screen and tidied her clothes before walking over to her equipment while speaking calmly, acting like she wasn't on the verge of a psychotic breakdown because of her game just a few seconds ago.

"T-That... I thought something had happened to you because of the scream that I hea-"

"What scream?"

She interrupted with a seemingly innocent face, looking at her guard as if she would order his execution with the wrong words out of his mouth.

The poor guard gulped and forced a smile onto his face while chuckling nervously.

"Ah, t-then I must have misheard, forgive my intrusion miss."

Just as the man was closing the door and stepping out of the room almost as if he was escaping, he heard her voice again.

"Wait Rudolph. What is the company that owns this famous game Call of Work?"

"I believe it should be Passivision, do you want to bribe them for admin permissions again?.."

The woman glared at him before Rudolph corrected his words.

"I-I mean do you want to give a generous donation because of how much you liked their game again?"

"Yeah, do that and stop bothering me. I expect the admin permissions in an hour"

The man stepped out of the room and closed the door before making a call to his boss.

The woman bossing him around was Marlene Merry, a renowned genius in the field of biology currently recruited by and working for the U.S. military force.

She was an avid gamer and had some special demands when she agreed to the job for the military, and considering that pretty much every country out there was out to recruit her, they had no choice but to give in to her unreasonable demands.

"Sigh... Why are you refusing to cooperate you damn asshole? No matter, I'll figure you out and neutralize you in due time. Just try and resist."

Marlene looked at the 10 meter tall vat filled with green liquid in front of her with a cocky smile. Inside the unknown green liquid there was a tiny purple speck.

This was the famous poison Purple Death that the Chinese military had refined from the famous Black Plague 20 years ago. It was widely known to be incurable for the past two decades which caused the Chinese to be the leading force in the Biological Wars.

However for Marlene, nothing was impossible, she had made great progress in finding the cure for the poison. There was only one last line of defence remaining for the Purple Plague.

"Hm?"

A spark flashed in her eyes for a moment before she slapped her forehead in exasperation.

"To think that I actually hadn't thought of that method yet, I feel truly stupid. Anyway, I'm certain that this will be the end of you little bugger. You should be proud of having kept me busy for a whole 4 days."

She slapped the glass vat while giggling.

The poison that eluded the best researchers of the world for two whole decades crumbled in front of Marlene in less than a week!

This was the true genius of Marlene Merry.

Suddenly...

Crack!

"W-What?..."

It took her a second to comprehend, but there was actually a large crack on the vat, originating from where she had slapped the glass!

"I-Impossible! This is peak grade bulletproof glass, there is no way a simple slap could crack it!..."

Her gaze grew dim while the cracks spread almost instantly through the glass.

"So this is where it ends. Well, it was fun while it lasted."

She closed her eyes and accepted her death in peace.

Nothing could survive the Purple death as long as they were within a hundred-meter radius.

The cracks accumulated and the glass bursted with a loud sound before the green liquid poured towards Marlene, signifying the end of a once in a millennium genius.
