Arin's POV
However, I had a horrible realization as I surveyed the deserted clearing. Malik had left. Not only was he absent, but I was unable to sense his heartbeat anywhere. And words that chilled my blood were written in the dirt where he had been standing:
"SHADOW WOLVES ARE COMING."
I screamed the name of someone else when I woke up. "Darius, no!"
But, as soon as I said those words, I knew they weren't mine. Elora owned them, and somehow her memories had become entangled with mine.
"Arin!" The confusion was broken by Kael's voice. "You're safe. You're in the pack house."
All three triplets were hovering over me with anxious expressions when I opened my eyes. However, I saw more than just Kael, Jaxon, and Rowan when I looked at them. Flashes of Elora's four mates, men who had lived and died eight hundred years ago, also appeared to me.
I muttered, "Something's wrong."
"I see things that aren't there."
"What kind of things?" Gently, Rowan inquired.
