Memory's Price
***Arin's POV***
"Dad?" Looking at Alpha Vaughn with the crystal, Kael's voice broke.
However, Elora's voice abruptly boomed through my head, combining both of our voices before any of us could respond. They cried out, "The ritual is wrong!" "Queen Althara is incompetent!"
Golden light poured out of the crystal that Alpha Vaughn was holding as it started to crack.
"What's happening?" Queen Althara demanded.
The human Elora reappeared next to me and said, "You attempted to bind a spirit that's already complete." "The magic is backfiring now."
All around us, the spirit world began to tremble violently. The red sky started to tear like paper, and the twisted trees started to fall apart.
"Hold on, everyone!" I yelled at the triplets. But instead of holding on to me, they were all looking at their father in disbelief and pain.
"Why, Dad?" Silently, Rowan inquired. "Why are you assisting her?"
