Chapter 258 - Chapter 258-94: Summit War (End)

Whitebeard—Edward Newgate—had just taken a combined hit from three Admiral-level monsters.

The force of the attack was apocalyptic. The kind of power that could tear the world apart.

Even someone like him couldn't fully endure it. His massive, mountain-like body was blasted into a bloody mess—flesh shredded, bones broken, the ground beneath him cratered from the impact.

But even then—he didn't fall.

Whitebeard planted his bisento, Murakumogiri, into the ground with a heavy thud, leaning on it, keeping himself upright through sheer willpower.

"Sengoku, Aokiji, Akainu—killing me won't put an end to this era!"

"Actually... it's the opposite."

"From here on out... the real chaos begins!"

Sengoku's face darkened. "Whitebeard, you're already as good as dead. Still running your mouth?"

Whitebeard just laughed. Loud, fearless, echoing through the battlefield—not just to his crew, but to the entire world.

"ONE PIECE… is real!"

The words spread like wildfire. The world heard them. The Marines couldn't stop it now. Sengoku's expression twisted, but there was nothing he could do.

"Kill him!" Akainu roared, launching forward. His fist transformed into a blazing magma hellhound.

"Dog Biting Crimson Lotus!"

The attack punched straight through Whitebeard's chest—burning magma erupting into his body, scorching his organs.

"Pops!!" his crew shouted, frozen in place as they watched the end of a legend.

Even as blood poured from his body, Whitebeard stood tall. He spoke, voice low and steady.

"I'm a relic of a dead era. This new world has no ship for me to sail on."

"Marco. Ace. My sons... from here on, it's all in your hands."

And then, with that final breath, the strongest man in the world—the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, a living giant who once stood beside the Pirate King—was gone.

Whitebeard—Edward Newgate—had fallen.

Just like the original history. Dead at Marineford. Dead in the Summit War.

But this time... things were different.

Blackbeard never showed up. Never got his hands on the Gura Gura no Mi.

Why? Because of Chiyu.

Chiyu had stormed Impel Down and shattered the system. Because of him, Blackbeard couldn't recruit his army. And with the Warlord system abolished—also thanks to Chiyu—Blackbeard lost his biggest opportunity.

He wasn't strong enough to risk showing up anymore.

At the same time, Chiyu had kept Akainu busy—Ace survived.

Rayleigh and Boa Hancock had appeared, swinging the momentum away from the Marines.

And most of all—it wasn't just Whitebeard vs. the Navy anymore.

Chiyu and his Undying Legion had joined the battlefield.

That changed everything.

Chiyu crushed Garp, rescued both Zephyr and Ace, and gave this war a whole new meaning.

As Whitebeard's body stood motionless, Rayleigh fought back Kizaru with everything he had. He wanted to retrieve Whitebeard's corpse—but with Sengoku and all three Admirals still watching, he couldn't.

Until—Chiyu gave the signal.

"ROOM!"

Trafalgar Law activated his Ope Ope no Mi, warped space, and teleported Whitebeard's body to safety beside him.

Sengoku lost it. "Get them! Full pursuit!"

But it was too late.

Chiyu, Zephyr, Rayleigh, Law, Hancock, Jinbe, Marco, Ace—all of them attacked at once.

"Ten Thousand Thunder!"

"Shattering Tornado!"

"Blade Tempest!"

"Gamma Knife!"

"Slave Arrow!"

"Ocean Shoulder Slam!"

"Blue Flame Swallow!"

"Solar Flare!"

The sky turned black. Lightning and fire rained down. Marineford's front gate was annihilated in an instant.

Even the Navy had to stop. The sheer destruction was overwhelming.

Chiyu raised his hand. "Marineford… here's your parting gift."

The skies darkened even further. Clouds churned like ink, and from them rained an endless storm of lightning. Tens of thousands of bolts—nonstop, chaotic, devastating.

"World-Ending Thunder!"

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM!!!

Marineford and the surrounding sea were drowned in thunder.

Even Sengoku couldn't believe it. He activated his full power—Great Buddha shockwaves—to shield the area. The Admirals did all they could just to hold back the destruction.

While they struggled, the Whitebeard Pirates and Chiyu's army pulled back and disappeared.

The Summit War was over.

The whole world had watched it unfold live.

The greatest war in pirate history would forever reshape the future.

Final outcome:

Whitebeard—dead.

Zephyr and Ace—rescued.

Whitebeard's forces—Jozu and Vista critically wounded, three commanders dead, seven more badly injured. Nearly half of the forty-three allied crews lost.

The Navy—Garp crushed, twenty-three Vice Admirals down, and over ten thousand casualties.

Chiyu's Undying Legion suffered the least—but they were the smallest force to begin with. Even they paid a price.

Back on the Whitebeard flagship, every crew member dropped to their knees before their fallen captain—still standing even in death.

Their cries filled the air.

But Marco knew—grief couldn't be the end.

"Pops may be dead, but the Whitebeard Pirates aren't!"

"We're his family. If we collapse now—who'll get justice for him?!"

The crew wiped their tears and roared:

"Avenge Pops!"

"Avenge Pops!!"

Ace stood, eyes burning with rage. "The Navy… Blackbeard… I'll kill them all myself!"

Marco turned to him. "Ace, Pops always said you were the one to lead us next. Now it's your time—"

Ace shook his head. "Don't. I helped kill him. I don't deserve that title. I'm not ready—not in age, strength, or reputation. If you say that again, you're just insulting me."

Vista and Jozu coughed up blood, barely able to speak.

"Marco... this is the worst moment in our history. Don't act on emotion. Pops naming Ace was for the future—not right now. Right now… we need you."

Marco sighed. "I'll take the lead. But when we rise again… Ace, the captain's seat will be yours."

Ace said nothing.

From that moment, Marco the Phoenix officially became the new captain of the Whitebeard Pirates.

Chiyu, Rayleigh, and the others bore silent witness.

Ace bowed to Chiyu. "Thanks for saving me."

His tone was cold, but sincere. Chiyu didn't mind. They weren't allies.

Ace added, "We're on different sides, but I owe you. If you ever need something—even my life—I'll repay it."

Chiyu gave no answer.

Then Ace turned to Rayleigh. "Rayleigh—join us. We need you."

Everyone was stunned.

Rayleigh smiled. "You're Roger's son. I saved you for him. But you're Whitebeard's now. And I'll always be Roger's."

"You'd never betray your crew, right?"

"Never."

"Neither would I."

Ace nodded. He understood.

Rayleigh would never switch sides.

Ace turned to Jinbe.

Jinbe sighed. "I came to Marineford with no way back. From today on, I'm with the Whitebeard Pirates."

Marco nodded. "You'll take Thatch's place. Fourth Division Commander."

Jinbe nodded. "Understood."

Rayleigh looked to Hancock.

"What about you? The Warlords are gone. The Navy's after you. Amazon Lily isn't safe anymore."

Marco's eyes lit up. Hancock would be a huge asset.

"Hancock, want to join us? We fought together in this war—"

But Hancock raised her chin high.

"I only came because of Rayleigh. I owe nothing to the Whitebeard Pirates."

"And if I'm going to follow anyone…"

She turned to Chiyu.

"I'm following Uchiha Chiyu."

Everyone froze—even Rayleigh.

"You're following Chiyu? Why?"

Chiyu himself raised an eyebrow.

Hancock said simply, "Because... Chiyu killed a Celestial Dragon."

Rayleigh instantly understood. Hancock had been enslaved by them. This was her revenge.

She stepped forward and lowered her head for the first time.

"Chiyu-sama, please allow me to follow you."

He nodded. "You may."

Everyone on board was stunned.

Boa Hancock—Empress of Amazon Lily—had joined the Undying Legion.

And with her came a legion of elite Haki-users.

The Warlords were finished:

Moria, Crocodile, Doflamingo—dead.

Whitebeard Jr.—killed by Zephyr.

Hancock and Law—now with Chiyu.

Jinbe—now with Whitebeard.

Mihawk—ally of Shanks.

Kuma—Pacifista.

Rayleigh smiled. "That's good. You finally found where you belong."

Hancock nodded. "Thank you, Rayleigh. Without you… we'd have been lost long ago."

"What will you do now?"

Rayleigh laughed. "Head back to Sabaody and live quietly."

"They'll hunt you now," Hancock warned.

Rayleigh smirked. "Let them try."

He waved to Marco, Chiyu, Hancock—and then dove into the sea and swam off, disappearing into the horizon.

Everyone watched in silence, awed by his strength—and his freedom.

Marco turned to Chiyu. "Chiyu-sama. You saved Ace. You returned our captain's body. We owe you more than we can repay."

"If there's anything you need—ever—just say the word."

The others nodded.

Chiyu replied calmly, "No need. Next time we meet, we may not be on the same side."

Marco smiled faintly. "Maybe so. But the Whitebeard Pirates never forget a debt."

Chiyu turned. "Then this is goodbye."

Hancock followed, never once looking back.

Marco and the others watched them leave, and once they were gone, the grief returned like a wave.

Ace looked to Marco. "What now?"

Marco was quiet for a long time.

"…First, we bury Pops properly. Then…"

"We kill that bastard Blackbeard."

"Yeah!!" the crew shouted.

And the storm that followed would shake the seas once again.
