Sirzechs stared at Arthas for a moment, then laughed heartily.
"Good, excellent character. Truly worthy of the Gremory family."
Sirzechs's words held a deeper meaning, causing Rias to blush slightly.
Sirzechs's acknowledgment of Arthas as Gremory family essentially meant he saw him as Rias's future husband.
Arthas, somewhat helplessly, rubbed his nose at Sirzechs's appraisal.
He wouldn't refuse, but felt a pang of guilt towards Souna.
"Lord Lucifer, I must correct you. I'm not only Gremory family, but also Sitri family."
Arthas stated. Sirzechs paused, then shook his head with amusement.
"I won't interfere in your affairs. I acknowledge your status as a familiar of the Sitri heiress. However, it's best to keep this secret for now. Reveal it when you're confident enough to face any enemy. For now, you must remain Rias's only familiar."
Arthas nodded in understanding. He knew his current strength wasn't enough to face the upper echelons of both the Angels and Fallen Angels.
Knowing he was a promising Pawn under Rias, the Angels and Fallen Angels might be wary, perhaps sending underlings to test him. But if they knew he was a prodigy created from eleven devil pieces, they might send eight-winged or even ten-winged executives for an assassination.
"I look forward to the day you reach your full potential. The three factions seem stable now, but there are undercurrents… ambitious individuals are stirring. War could erupt at any time."
Sirzechs sighed softly, seemingly hinting at something, but ultimately refrained from revealing more.
"Grayfia, take them to rest."
"Understood, Master."
Grayfia bowed slightly and escorted Arthas and Rias away.
Shortly after, Grayfia returned to Sirzechs's room. Despite being husband and wife, they remained distant, like strangers.
"Grayfia… what do you think of this young man…"
"Don't mention it… I serve Lord Lucifer. My life belongs only to him."
Grayfia said coldly, looking at the slightly surprised Sirzechs. Her words sounded like a vow, yet her eyes held no emotion.
"Ah… I understand."
Sirzechs nodded, falling silent. A deathly silence descended upon the room.
After returning from the Underworld, the Occult Research Club celebrated for several days. To make amends with Souna, Rias generously gave Arthas's services for half a month.
For those two weeks at Kuoh Academy, Arthas was Souna's familiar; Rias wouldn't approach him.
Rias fabricated a reason for his absence to her other familiars.
Asia, Yuuto, and Koneko easily believed it; Akeno was suspicious but didn't press further.
"Congratulations. It seems Lord Lucifer already sees you as his new son-in-law."
In the Student Council President's office, Souna looked up meaningfully at Arthas as he entered.
"Son-in-law…? Souna, don't say strange things."
Arthas chuckled awkwardly, unsure how to comfort the jealous girl.
"Arthas… do you think my sister is… unreasonable?"
Souna asked cautiously. Arthas stared at her, puzzled.
"Why would you think that? I don't think so. Lord Serafall is cute."
"Cute?"
Souna sadly covered her face. One of the Four Great Satan Kings being called cute—her sister would be delighted, but Souna found it embarrassing.
Being called cute… her sister, a Satan King!
"Um… is there a problem with that?"
"No, there isn't. Let's discuss recent work. Your absence has increased the Student Council's workload."
Returning to her serious demeanor, Souna pushed up her glasses.
Amusing himself with Souna's reaction, Arthas stepped closer, gently taking her hand.
"I say… are you jealous, Souna-senpai?"
He deliberately prolonged the "senpai," watching the serious girl blush. Arthas smiled slyly, sitting beside her.
"Eh…"
Souna gasped softly as Arthas squeezed onto her chair, making it cramped. She instinctively pushed him, protesting.
"Don't be silly. Someone might see."
"You're the President, their master. Without your permission, who would dare enter?"
Arthas was unfazed, putting his arm around Souna's waist, lifting her onto his lap.
"Now it's not cramped."
Resting his chin on her shoulder, inhaling her faint fragrance, Arthas sighed contentedly.
"You… I'm going to be angry, Arthas!"
Arthas was setting the pace, making Souna uncomfortable. While enjoying the closeness, her innate shyness caused her to resist.
Unable to use her power, she could only gently push him, which Arthas interpreted as playful resistance.
"Is that so…? Senpai is being dishonest. You say no, but… your body tells a different story."
Souna was completely different from Rias. Rias was proactive, enthusiastic, overwhelming Arthas. Souna was the opposite; she needed Arthas to take the initiative, to awaken her desires.
