Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The First Victory

I have to go to Elvareth Forest as quickly as possible. Nulambart prepared a relatively small backpack with a knife, food and water to survive 4 days and also a kit of medicines and bandages that his mother had prepared in cases of emergency.

Once he saw that everything was in its correct place, Nulmabart said goodbye to his parents and Ana, and then left his house.

I will return home as soon as possible.

As he walked a few meters south and got further and further away from his house, he couldn't help but look at it in the distance again. As he did so, he felt his stomach tighten and his throat hurt, since deep down in his heart Nulambart had a deep fear of failing this mission and never seeing his parents again.

Likewise, Nulambart felt a deep sense of worry about the disappearance of the enemy guard, who could be anywhere right now and could find his parents if he didn't hurry.

 Meanwhile in the basement.

Currently the basement that housed some of the village's most important young geniuses was in deep disarray, with many of the youths moving around trying to find ways to calm a single person in the basement.

It was Valin, one of the most important geniuses in the village, who one day after Ana had left the basement, could no longer hide his impatience and began to argue with Mayor George, his grandfather, because he wanted to go out to look for Ana because she was alone with another boy, and he was not a normal boy, but a person that he despised with the depths of his being.

However, Mayor George had been clear and ordering Valin several times to calm down, the genius could do nothing but listen to this grandfather of his without saying a word.

However, the other people in the basement had resented how Valin took out his anger against other fellow cultivators with the excuse of carrying out cultivation practices.

In this way, this basement had become a field where all the people were placed in a circle, while Valin fought against the other young people, who ended up in a deplorable state of health.

Several times Valin said:

"Come on..get up!"

"If you're going to give up after one hit, you better not look at me next time!"

"Hmmp...! No one here is qualified to be called a genius!"

After taking it out on his last "practice" opponent, Valin straightened his clothes while circulating his aura of a Level 7 Nascent Avatar Stage cultivator, while everyone else present watched with shock and fear in their eyes.

This was not solely due to the power that Valin's aura emitted, but rather due to the way his aura fused with his body, as Valin's body gave off a metallic glow and his limbs became as sharp as knives.

Without a doubt, before the other geniuses present in the basement, Valin's power felt to the others like a difference between heaven and earth.

Then, when Valin was preparing to look for another of his fellow practitioners with his brow furrowed and his hands clenched, clearly enraged, the mayor noticed this situation and stopped his grandson.

 "Stop right there, Valin!"

"Aren't you seeing that no one wants to fight you anymore?"

"Remain calm once and for all and set an example for other young people!" the mayor declared in a strong voice, with a frown.

He had seen all of the above and clearly knew that Valín was furious about what had previously happened with Nulambart and Ana, and in a situation like this, being his grandfather and mentor in his cultivation, he was testing the character of his grandson and disciple in the face of adversity.

"I see you need to grow up boy."

"There is no point in worrying about Ana now, since you didn't offer to help Nulambart from the beginning," the mayor said seriously to Valin, who was about to respond to his grandfather.

"Grandpa…" Valin only managed to say before Grandpa continued.

"You chose to stay here out of fear, since you had the ability with your cultivation and your special sword beast body, then you could follow Ana."

"Ana was a great example for your classmates, you wanted to stay safe here and I respect your decision, but don't regret it later and complicate things for others because of it," the grandfather ended up saying to the grandson, who the next moment lost all his previous energy and frustration.

Thus, the young genius only had to go to the private room in the basement, walking among all the people present with his face and ears slightly red from shame and helplessness.

"Nulambart, you damn… It's all your fault, you talentless bastard!" Valin whispered without anyone hearing him before opening the door to the private room and sitting there collapsed alone.

Back to Nulambart.

After walking for 1 hour, he was halfway to the southern edge of the village, and it was also the last point where he could find habitable residential areas in the village.

This was because he had arrived at the village's practice area, a plain several kilometers long that was used by the village's martial cultivators to practice high-energy martial techniques and also to hunt wild beasts that came out of the Elvareth Forest, and which were an important source of food for the village.

These wild beasts, which did not have the power to survive for long in the Elvareth Forest, fled to the plains of the village to reproduce and have a better life, and they existed of various types, the most common being rabbits, eagles, bears, tigers and wolves.

Without a doubt, some more powerful than others, where particularly bears, tigers and wolves allowed the cultivators of the primary path to train, who depending on the level of cultivation, could defeat these wild beasts after a good battle, alone or in a group.

Nulambart had walked this part of the training plain with his father, since every year his father took him to see how he hunted animals to have food to spend the harsh winter in the village.

Entering the training plain, Nulambart caught a glimpse of a lot of life brimming with energy in this training area, and felt a slight discomfort at the thought of encountering wild beasts without his father's protection for the first time.

Nulambart saw all kinds of wild animals that did not represent a threat, such as many rabbits, different species of birds, but also as he advanced hundreds of meters on the plain he began to see bears and tigers, which he simply tried to avoid.

I would like to be able to enter the forest without having major complications. Nulambart simply sought to reach the Elvareth Forest as quickly as possible.

However, he would soon realize that not everything would go according to his plans.

Awwwww

Awwwww

Awwwww…

Suddenly, Nulambart could clearly hear the howl of one of the beasts he least wanted to see at that moment, the gray wolves, this was because his father had taught him that they always hunted in packs.

Oh.. noo. This can't be possible. Nulambart began to hear many howls coming in his direction, so he began to move faster.

The wolves shouldn't hunt so early, it's only midday and they only come out at night. According to Nulambart's knowledge, it was very strange to encounter wolves so early in the day, it was undoubtedly bad luck.

Awwwww

Awwwww

Awwwww…

Then after trying to run for hundreds of meters, a pack of 9 wolves caught up with Nulambart, and ended up surrounded in a circle by these wild beasts.

These beasts were 1 meter tall wolves, with blunt gray fur, sharp claws, and fangs that could easily be compared to sharp blades that could easily cut through anything.

I'll have to fight, I can't escape anymore.

Nulambart knew that this time he had no chance of escaping as he had done the previous times, so he prepared to fight.

Each gray wolf individually is a match for a level 1 primary path cultivator… now… a pack of wolves like this greatly raises the difficulty, where even a level 5 primary path cultivator could lose his life to these beasts. After coming many times in the past with his father, Nulambart knew what he was up against.

Let's test the strength of a martial cultivator… Thank you master for helping me survive and allowing me to have my first fight..

Nulambart entered a state of absolute concentration, and then began to circulate his soul energy through his body, filling every pore of his body with a little of the energy of nature.

Then Nulambart took out from his storage a 15-centimeter knife that he had found in his house, and then placed it in front of his body as a sign of protection and lowering his center of gravity to prepare for the onslaught of the beasts.

He stood looking face to face at the pack of wolves, when after a few seconds that felt like hours, the boy senses two wolves looking to attack from the right with their incredible claws.

They are super fast.

Nulambart, applying the training he had done with his father with the sword, was able to dodge the first charge of the wolves and then run towards them from behind and try to attack them with the knife.

Let's see how sturdy they are.

I have to aim for the neck, this weapon is not very resistant. Then Nulambart quickly made a cut on the neck of one of the wild wolves, leaving it out of combat.

I did it. Nulambart, upon knocking out a wolf, could not hide the smile that came to his lips.

¡Ouch!

Just as Nulambart was preparing to attack the other wolf, he felt a wave of coldness on his back, before turning around and seeing what another wild wolf had passed behind his body, leaving in its wake 3 cuts produced by its large claw on Nulambart's back.

Then a cold sweat began to run through Nulambart's body, since he had made a mistake by celebrating early. This was because he now felt like the 3 cuts were burning on his back, making him clench his teeth.

His hands began to shake slightly with the knife in his hands.

I can't let this happen again.

Then Nulambart decided to think of a plan to be able to face the now 8 wolves that remained.

Then he decided to apply his soul energy to his feet, in order to move a little faster and climb a nearby tree.

Once he climbed up, he could clearly see the sight in front of him, which consisted of a pack of wolves surrounding the tree in all directions.

However, he could see that behind the pack of wolves, there was a wolf with a much more vigorous coat and with a height and muscles greater than that of the other wolves.

That's it, I have to attack that wolf. That wolf was surely the leader of the other wolves.

Then he decided to apply the soul energy to his legs again and jump towards said wolf, so he was able to fly for about 3 meters to leave the pack behind and run towards the wolf who seemed to be the leader.

Something is wrong. Nulambart felt a pressure on his soul that was barely perceptible, but he decided to continue his attack.

Then, Nulambart with the help of his soul energy in his legs quickly approached the enemy, and with both hands holding the small knife, Nulambart stabbed the wolf's chest.

Gotcha, I'll end this quick once you go down.

RAAAAWW. Before he could deliver the blow with all his strength from both hands, the wolf simply dodged Nulambart's cut with ease and turned his body to deliver a blow with the palm of his hand that sent the boy flying 5 meters before hitting the ground.

Nulambart felt a cold draft of air coming from the palm blow, and then fell and felt a crack on his left shoulder, as well as a trickle of blood that came from his mouth.

Upon feeling this, Nulambart was stunned for a few seconds, when from inside his chest he felt a chill that went from the tips of his feet to his head, since he knew what was happening.

A quasi-spiritual beast, he couldn't help but get the look of the beast that had attacked him out of his head.

Then he remembered what he had learned from his father helping him with hunts in this training area.

"Son, normally the wild beasts here are not a big danger to our novice cultivators, but from time to time Quasi-spiritual beasts appear, these beasts can rival profound primary path cultivators, that means they are half a step away from entering the avatar realms stage."

hahahahaha… I am only on the primary spiritual path, and at the lowest level…

Nulambart, without knowing how to laugh or cry, realized the difference in levels that existed between them. Then he began to shake uncontrollably while looking at his unusable left arm due to his left shoulder probably being dislocated.

"Will I really die here alone?"

"Help! Someone help me!" Nulambart shouted, as he saw the Quasi-spiritual beast approaching to finish him off.

However, as the seconds passed, Nulambart realized that he was probably going to die, without anyone being able to rescue him, since he was alone.

The entire life he had had until now passed through his head like a whirlwind of emotions, seeing his parents and his sister in every memory that reached the young man's brain until he felt a liquid flowing down his cheeks, and his glassy eyes became a tide of tears that spilled out of resignation.

"Master, I'm sorry, your disciple will not be able to keep his part of the bargain," Nulambart said sadly, as he stood up to meet the beast head-on.

In the end, he was not prepared for the life of a martial cultivator after all.

When regrets took over Nulambart's head, many things ran through his head in those few seconds as he watched the beast approach.

I would have preferred to remain a slave than to die to be free.

When he said those words to himself, Nulambart felt a sensation of electricity throughout his body, as he had remembered what Ana had mentioned about his Sister.

Of course, Nulambart's sister had decided to protect everyone at the cost of her own life and ended up being captured by the enemies, just like her parents.

"Ridiculous… I am really ridiculous," Nulambart said clearly as he looked at the beast that was two meters away.

Then he forcefully grabbed the knife that he still had in his functional right hand, and decided to use all the energy that was in his soul to make one last attack.

"At least I will die fighting and being free, I owe it to my family!" Nulambart shouted, then charged towards the beast.

The world seemed to stop when Nulambart felt each of the fluctuations in the environment and could perfectly see each movement of the wolf that was preparing to dodge the attack again.

You won't do it again. At least let me touch you puppy

"Temporal Divergence," Nulambart said to himself, who felt how his body was overloaded with information from the environment and from his body itself.

I only have 1 second. Nulambart had felt that the limit of this ability was surprisingly limited.

Then Nulambart with lightning speed attacked the wolf directly in the neck, but as he did so he realized that the wolf's body was incredibly hard.

He then concentrated all his soul energy into his right arm, causing all of Nulambart's veins and muscles to convulse for that instant, but he managed to cut through the wolf's skin.

"Take this gift cub," Nulambart shouted.

Nulambart even surprised himself when he was not only able to cut the wolf's neck, but directly severed its head from its body.

Then, the second later, time seemed to return, and then Nulambart turned his head to see the wolf's body fall limply to the grass. He had won this battle.

However, his head spun and he felt his entire body lose its strength before he fell to the grass.

Awwwww

Awwwww

Awwwww

The other wolves, seeing this scene, made sounds of fear and ran away when they saw that their leader had been defeated.

How lucky I am this time. Nulambart knew that he could not move his body anymore and that he was about to lose consciousness.

Giving in with his trembling legs, his knees touched the wet green moss that was previously at his feet, later his arms would give in.

Then, the boy's entire body fell to one side, while the taste of iron in his mouth grew bigger, but due to the extreme exhaustion of his body, he could not feel physical pain, only extreme tiredness.

Seeing more and more blurry, Nulambart knew that he was going to lose consciousness due to fatigue and his use of extreme energy, but first he couldn't help but reflect.

"This is my first victory as a martial cultivator… but now I understand that the reason I won is not because I defeated my opponent," Nulambart began to say in a low voice.

"I won because I survived the battlefield on my own… I have overcome my fear and can continue to live another day in the world of martial cultivators," Nulambart concluded before closing his eyes.
