When the myriad beasts gathered, one had to ask, aside from the three apex soul beasts who ruled over their own forbidden territories on the Douluo Continent, who else could command such overwhelming influence?
This was also one of the reasons why the Third Elder's expression was so ugly. As an elder of the Body Sect, he naturally knew that a year ago, during the sect's surprise attack on the Mingde Hall, they had suffered devastating losses. The Body Sect had been assaulted by none other than Xue Di herself, who had broken free from a sealed hundred-thousand-year soul beast embryo. Du Busi had been severely wounded because of her.
No one knew why Xue Di had attacked the Body Sect as if she were protecting Mingde Hall. Du Busi speculated that perhaps there was some powerful figure within Mingde Hall who had a deep and mysterious connection with Xue Di. There was even a chilling guess that made not just the Body Sect but the entire Douluo Three Kingdoms break into a cold sweat—that the Extreme North had possibly formed an alliance with the Sun Moon Empire, although the odds were slim.
Regardless, Xue Di had become a sworn enemy of the Body Sect. Countless core members above the Soul Ancestor level had perished under her icy wrath. Now, standing on this land and sensing Xue Di's glaring presence, the Third Elder's mood could hardly be pleasant.
Even as a proud Rank 95 Super Douluo, the Third Elder knew he had to keep a low profile. Xue Di, outside the Extreme North, could heavily wound Poison Undying. Here in her domain, she could probably kill him outright. Before such an existence, he was nothing more than an insignificant insect.
Moreover, he had to protect the safety of the other seven members with him. The Third Elder snorted heavily and said,
"Hmph. Since that Xue Di is here in the Extreme North, we should steer toward the outer perimeter. The soul beasts have already gathered around her, and we won't find any suitable ones here anyway."
Everyone could sense the anger and frustration radiating from the Third Elder. Weina looked worriedly at his slightly hunched back—one of his close juniors, a Soul Ancestor from the Body Sect, had been killed personally by Xue Di.
"Third Elder is right. Let's retreat quickly."
"Aah, enjoying the scenery of the Extreme North, breathing in the friendly cold wind, what a wonderful experience! Brother is truly living the life. And with beautiful Bing Bing for company... Ah, Bing Bing, don't hit me!"
"You stupid worm, holed up in Yuhao's spiritual world, where do you get the guts to talk like that! Breathing cold air, are you? I'll freeze your giant worm body into an icicle! And you dare say I'm your companion!"
Huo Yuhao listened to the banter between Skydream Iceworm and Bing Di in his spiritual world, unable to suppress a chuckle.
Even Xue Di, though currently in the outside world, could see through her spiritual link the amusing scene of Skydream Iceworm being chased by Bing Di. She couldn't help but let out a genuinely relaxed smile.
"Yuhao, you noticed, right? Bing Di seems quite happy now."
Hearing Xue Di's voice in his mind, Huo Yuhao was briefly stunned, then nodded knowingly, a mischievous smile forming on his lips. Wasn't this exactly how it should be? How did the saying go—tsundere, harsh words but honest heart? The relationship between Bing Di and Skydream Iceworm had gradually improved over time.
"Yeah. But if Brother Skydream wants to truly win over Bing Di, it won't be easy."
Xue Di nodded slightly, her smile deep but silent.
Thus, this group consisting of a bear, a snow empress, an auspicious beast, and two humans continued their leisurely tour of the Extreme North, the atmosphere as relaxed as the playful scuffles between Bing Di and Skydream Iceworm.
Time passed, and after a half-day of sightseeing, they still hadn't found any clues that might help Meng Hongchen purify her bloodline. Among the group, the Auspicious Beast, least adapted to the frigid climate, began to shiver slightly. Her once vibrant Golden Dragon King bloodline seemed to grow sluggish in the cold. Seeing this, Meng Hongchen pitifully bundled her up in several more layers of clothing.
The Auspicious Beast looked at Meng Hongchen with grateful, sparkling eyes. 'This human sister isn't bad at all.'
Noticing the increasingly weary Auspicious Beast, Xue Di glanced at the massive Ice Bear King beside them and smiled.
"Xiaobai, why don't you carry us for a bit?"
Her suggestion shocked Meng Hongchen, Huo Yuhao, and the Auspicious Beast. Ride atop a dignified fierce beast? That seemed almost unthinkable.
Unexpectedly, Xiaobai was not only unoffended but actually delighted. He eagerly lowered his huge body and said,
"That's wonderful! Please, get on."
Having been raised by Xue Di since young, Xiaobai was accustomed to carrying her once he grew large enough. To him, it was a comforting and familiar act.
With a graceful leap, Xue Di settled herself onto Xiaobai's thick neck, then happily beckoned the others to join her. Huo Yuhao, Meng Hongchen, and the Auspicious Beast hesitated for a moment but quickly realized—this Ice Bear King was no ordinary soul beast.
Thus, they began their journey atop the sturdy, furry back of the Ice Bear King. With his thick fur providing warmth and his steps steady and smooth, the ride was incredibly comfortable.
As Xue Di hugged Xiaobai's large head like an oversized moving plush toy, her delicate brows suddenly furrowed. She tugged lightly on the fur at Xiaobai's neck, signaling him to stop.
"Xue Di, what's wrong?"
Huo Yuhao asked in confusion, noticing the cold smirk forming on Xue Di's lips.
"Hmph. Eight insects, daring to do as they please on my land."
Xue Di's voice was ice-cold, sending a shiver through Huo Yuhao and the others. The danger in her tone was palpable. Even Xiaobai, usually simple and good-natured, became visibly more menacing.
Huo Yuhao soon understood. For Xue Di to label them 'insects,' they were likely humans who had come to the Extreme North to hunt soul beasts. But judging from Xue Di's icy demeanor, it seemed these people's offenses were far graver than simple hunting.
Here in the Extreme North, Xue Di was akin to a divine presence. It was unsurprising that she could detect humans from a distance that even Huo Yuhao, with his full spiritual detection, could not sense.
