Synopsis
(Cover from Pinterest) (MHA X One Piece(Explained)) Kyo Minori was your average kid in a superpowered world, a place where 80% of the population had a power of some kind called "Quirks," whether they be Emitters, Mutants, or transformations. Everyone has their own unique ability. Some are so powerful they can be extremely deadly even to the user, while at other times they may be completely useless and more of a detriment to the person in their daily life. That all changed when he was four, however, and he was diagnosed as part of the 20% of the population who were quirkless. So now what was he supposed to do? How was he going to give people a bright, hope-filled future like he wished he had always hoped for himself during the tough times, both for him and everyone else who had a miserable existence?

Chapter 1 - Kyo Mori - Starting Point

*Year: 2382 - 18 years before canon*

Inside a dingy old apartment filled to the brim with trash, the only source of light being a cracked TV, who was sitting in front of it was a four-year-old child, a thin and frail little kid with scraggly white hair, a rare genetic inheritance from his mother's side. Speaking of which, where were the parents? Why were they allowing this young child to sit so close to the TV?

The truth is that they were both currently arguing in the kitchen about something or another, a common sight if someone were to live alongside them. The kid, however, Kyo Mori, was currently enamoured with a news report detailing one of All Might's latest successful endeavors, and he smiled like he always did. Kyo looked on, seeing All Might's signature smiling face dazzle on the screen, which filled him with such hope for the future, a future away from here.

Of course, that wasn't the only hero he admired, as each time he sat in front of the TV to escape his life, he saw more and more heroes. Sure, some went out as quickly as a melted candle flame, their sacrifice leading to numerous lives being saved in the process. Heroes like Endeavor, Yoroi Mushi, or any of the other numerous Pro Heroes gave him hope for a better life.

In reverence of this, Kyo trained himself ragged every day, pushing his body to the limit, all in order to become a hero himself. To give other people who were like him hope for the future, to know that their future can be dazzling. That they can be a beacon all on their own if they so wish, that things could get better if they just tried. That there were people like them who were in shitty situations who rose above it all and give them hope for their own future.

That was the wish of Kyo Mori, his one and only dream that he would have all his life. One that was nearly dashed away when his quirk failed to awaken, it was a day that started nicely, one of the rare times his parents weren't arguing with one another, but in the end, it ended like any other day. Misberal and with his parents screaming and arguing with one another, no, it was far worse that day.

It was the day he realized he was quirkless.

It wouldn't deter him, though; he would continue to train and study all he could, to try and become a hero, to become something greater than himself. For years, he trained himself, straining his body to get stronger, so strong that people could rely on him even without a quirk.

*Year: 2395 - 5 years before canon*

The now 18-year-old Kyo Mori was taller than the average person, with well-built muscles and dark skin. The man had tried his best to get into a Pro Hero school, doing everything he could to prove to them that he belonged there, he tried UA first then shiketsu even going so far as to apply for the general course, and while he did graduate from UA, he was never able to get into the hero course.

While he did have some decent, well-thought-out ideas, most of which ended in failure, like trying to create a support item that increases one's strength, which, thanks to the tips from the support course, he was able to build a jacket that didn't catch fire, but the only thing it did was be extra durable and have a in-house air conditioner, which caught fire half the time. He even created a nice little cat helmet for himself, one that had various functions like monitoring police radios or night vision, which, in fairness, he was able to get down eventually.

Overall, though the practicality of these products in the field was minimal to most Pro Heroes, and even then, that didn't account for people who had different body types or whose forms changed completely. Not practical in the long run, and since it was made using his own funds, well, he got to keep it, but it only served as a reminder of his own failures. A memento of what he could've been, but that didn't stop; he tried to be a hero in his own way, in everyday life.

He helped people here and there, but whenever he saw the big guys on screen, whenever he saw some of his former classmates doing their best to be Pro Heroes. That didn't mean he hated or resented them for it; in fact, he was proud of them, proud of the fact that even if he wasn't a Pro Hero, he was able to learn alongside them at the same school, even if he was just in the general course.

Still though Kyo wished time and time again that he was given a proper shot at it, that he could truly be a hero to the misfortunate few who were like him stuck an shitty situation. Right now, the young man was staring at the ocean, taking in the air and letting the open sea relax him and give him the strength to get through the rest of his week.

*Year: 2398 - 2 years before canon*

Three years quickly passed for Kyo, who was now a twenty-four-year-old man, and while he was still exercising regularly to keep in shape, he wasn't getting out to help as much. All the drive he used to have seemed to be drying up year by year as his dream slowly drifted further and further away. His costume was gathering dust in his closet as he went day by day, dealing with work or just the regular troubles of life.

Either way, it was starting to wear down on him as his eyes grew more weary by the day, heck, he had gained a few new scars from punching what most would think was a punching bag over and over, which instead was his old bedframe that was turned upward. It was only the way to work out his aggression and keep a smile on his face every day, or at least the closest thing to a smile he could form.

Right now, though it was late at night, Kyo was staring out into the ocean as the sun slowly descended, beginning the night sky. That's when Kyo started to cry, for the first time in quite a long time, he let his sadness overwhelm him, no longer able to keep himself calm, to keep his emotions in check. He leaned down, letting his head hit the concrete he was sitting on and slamming his fist against the ground, sending a jolt of pain through his arm.

"Dammit, dammit, whats the point in training still, whats the point in doing any of this?"

"Why did I fail? I worked so hard, I trained endlessly, I did everything I could to become a hero, but...I still failed."

"I-I-I don't know what I'm supposed to do now?" Kyo said with a somber tone to his voice, one that had last all hope of ever achieving his dream.

That's when something strange entered his field of view, a blue screen that had only a couple of pieces of text on it.

[Do you want to be stronger Y/N?]

While his eyes were filled with tears, he was still able to see it and in a desperate plea, clicked on Yes, wanting to be stronger, wanting to be so strong that he could be a hero to people even if he did it illegally.

"Yes, I want the strength to save people, to give people hope when they have none!"

All the while, Kyo was starting to smile, and even if this was all a figment of his stressed-out imagination, he didn't care; he wanted to have a little hope right now. He wanted to believe that there was a way to get far stronger; he currently was as the way things were going right now, he had reached his limits with his current training clearly. So he did the only rational thing he could think of doing right now, he clicked on yes once more, and three new blue screens popped up.

Getting up, Kyo nodded his head, no longer crying but now brimming with hope, hope for the future and hope for himself, wanting this to be real, to have his shot at being his own symbol, even if he had no choice now but to be a vigilante.
