===October 11 1993===
Just as everyone finishes breakfast a special edition of The Daily Prophet is delivered. Harry takes his copy and reads it.
PETER PETTIGREW ALIVE!
It has come to the attention of this newspaper that Peter Pettigrew, previously awarded an Order of Merlin 1st class (posthumously), is actually alive.
Yesterday, The Ministry of Magic was made aware that an unregistered animagus was posing as a student's familiar in Hogwarts. The Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement personally went and investigated the accusations. This is what she had to say.
"By the time I arrived at Hogwarts the students had already restrained the suspected animal in a cage. I personally took the animal out and cast to cast the animagus reversal spell while Professor McGonagall waited to see if the animal tried to run away."
Upon the casting of the spell the animal changed into a human resembling Peter Pettigrew I arrested him for being an unregistered animagus and questioned him under Veritaserum as procedure. He fully admitted to being Peter Pettigrew and faking his death. The rest of that conversation is part of a larger investigation and not going to be revealed to the public at this time."
Harry hands Hermione the paper as a pair of owls fly in and drop letters in front of them . While Hermione reads the paper Harry picks up his letter and opens it.
Harry James Potter,
Your presence is requested at the trial of Peter Pettigrew on October 16, 1993 starting at 8:00 A.M. If you happen to know how to contact Sirius Orion Black please do so and invite him to attend as well.
This letter serves as assurance he will not be arrested, and will be allowed to leave regardless of the outcome of this trial.

Harry looks up from his letter and sees that Hermione has opened and read hers. "We need to send a letter to Malachi." Hermione says.
"My thoughts exactly."
===October 16 1993===
The day of Peter Pettigrew's trial has come. Harry and Hermione flank Sirius as they walk through the Ministry. Sirius is wearing a set of robes Malachi lent him, while Harry and Hermione are wearing their heir robes.
"Halt!" An auror shouts. "Sirius Orion Black, you're under arrest!"
"My name is Harry James Potter! This letter is from Amelia Bones guaranteeing safe passage for Sirius Orion Black." He says as he holds up his letter.
The auror snatches the letter out of Harry's hand and rips it in half. "I see no letter." He snears. "Arrest…" suddenly the guard stops talking, he stands there frozen in place.
Harry reaches down and picks up the letter, it magically becoming one piece again. He looks to the rest of the aurors. "I suggest you go get your boss, we don't have all day. "One of the other aurors runs off. "Dear, chairs please."
Hermione pulls out her wand and conjures three chairs. "You act like you don't know the spell."
"You're just better at it then I am." Harry says as he sits.
Hermione smiles proudly as she sits. Sirius mumbles. "Lily and James all over again." Before he sits.
A few minutes later the auror comes back with Amelia. "Mister Potter, Mister Black, Miss Granger." Amelia says. "I apologize for my subordinate."
"He didn't even look at the letter before ripping it in half." Harry says disgustingly.
Amelia sighs. "I will deal with him later. The spell on the letter will hold him for now. We have a trial to attend."
Thanks to the Veritaserum the trial was rather short. Peter admitted to betraying Harry's parents and framing Sirius all in an attempt to please Voldemort. Peter was sentenced to Azkaban for life. While all charges were dropped on Sirius and he was declared free.
===October 23 1993===
Hermione finds Ginny in the common room holding the fake Scabbers. "Ginny, you okay?" Hermione asks.
Ginny shakes her head, tears obvious in her eyes. "It's Scabbers, he's been moving less and less these days."
"Oh, Ginny, I'm so sorry." Hermione says as she hugs the younger witch.
"I should have known this was going to happen." Ginny says as she sobs into Hermione's blouse. "He's going to die because of me!"
"Ginny, there's no way that's true." Hermione says. "He's old, Ron told us he thinks he's been in the family for 12 years."
Ginny sniffles. "True."
"And he's not dead just yet." Hermione says. "Love him as long as you can."
"Thanks, Hermione."
===October 31 1993===
Harry and Hermione hold hands as they take in the sight of Hogsmeade Village. "So where are we going first, Tomes and Scrolls?" Harry asks.
Hermione smiles and kisses his cheek. "Only you would be willing to take me to the bookshop first."
Harry grins. "Hey, I know my witch, what can I say?"
Hermione nods as she starts walking, Harry goes along with her. "I was thinking we'd go to Dogweed and Deathcap first. I'm hoping to be able to get the ingredients for a potion I want to try to brew."
"Oh?" Harry asks.
Hermione blushes. "I found instructions for brewing a contraceptive potion."
"Won't hear me argue there." Harry says.
Hermione swats him playfully with her free hand. "Get those dirty thoughts out of your head. Apparently the longer I'm on the potion the more likely it'll work."
"I know, I just can't help myself. Nine more months." Harry says squeezing he'd hand tight.
"Nine more months." Hermione says as she squeezes his hand back. They arrive at the Herbology shop and let go of each other's hands. Once inside they're glad they did as the shop is rather cramped. They stick close to each other looking at the plants.
"Can I help you?" A woman says.
Hermione looks up at the plump shopkeeper. "We were looking for some potion ingredients." She hands the shopkeeper a list.
The shopkeeper takes the list. "You came to the right place."
The walk out of the store, Harry carrying the bag of potion ingredients. "So what next?"
"We should go to Madam Puddifoot's." Hermione answers.
"Really?"
"It's a rite of passage." Hermione says. "Every couple goes while in Hogwarts."
Harry nods and they walk down the street until they come upon the bright pink building. They stop and look at each other. "Nope." They say in unison before quickly turning around and going to the bookshop.
Much to no surprise they completely lose track of time in the small bookshop. It's only when their watches go off reminding them to get back to the coaches to get back to school that they pay for their purchases. The proprietor puts their purchases in a featherlite bag and they step out.
As soon as they exit the building they know something is wrong. The street was quiet, not another student was in sight. A man in red auror robes approaches them. "What are you two still doing here?"
"We were inside the bookshop." Hermione says.
"We're evacuating Hogsmeade." The man answers.
"What's going on?" Harry asks.
The auror seems conflicted. "Come on, Harry." Hermione says. "They're not going to tell us anything."
"Wait! You're Harry Potter?" The auror asks and Harry nods. "Then you're Hermione Granger?" Hermione nods. "Then you two should stick with us. As you two are potential targets."
"Targets?" Harry asks.
"Peter Pettigrew and Delores Umbridge have escaped from Azkaban."
"Of course they did." Harry sighs.
