Rachel grabbed the takeout box and quickly began to eat, her only thought being to finish as soon as possible so she could leave.
"Why are you eating so fast? Can't wait to get out of here?" Jeffrey's voice floated through the office, breaking the silence.
"Cough, cough..." Rachel choked, nearly spitting out her food.
She covered her mouth, struggling to catch her breath, her face turning a deep shade of red.
Finally managing to stop coughing, she realized her palm was sticky with the rice she had choked on. She reached for a tissue to wipe her hand.
Before she could grab it, Jeffrey's fingers wrapped around her hand, pulling it toward him.
Feeling uneasy, she twisted her wrist, trying to pull away. "My hands are dirty; I need to wipe them," she said.
"Dirty?" He chuckled lightly, as if amused. "I don't think they're dirty at all."
With that, he lowered his head, pressing his lips against her palm, his tongue delicately licking away the grains of rice one by one.
