"What do you want with me?"
Nagato had tried to escape but was overpowered by the Third Mizukage.
His powers were now sealed by the Third Mizukage, who carried him under one arm.
The two were heading toward the Hidden Mist Village.
"You don't need to know."
"I'll make you master the power of these eyes."
"This is for your own good."
The Third Mizukage kept his gaze forward, offering Nagato no reply.
"I don't want it."
"My teacher will come save me."
Nagato's eyes remained firm. He firmly believed that as long as he stayed alive, his teacher would come rescue him.
"Haha~"
"I'll admit, Kawaki Hatake has some strength."
"But do you really think he's *Hashirama Senju*?"
The Third Mizukage didn't take it seriously. Who else but Hashirama or himself could possibly take on an entire village alone?
"You'll regret this."
Nagato became enraged at the Mizukage's mocking tone. How could his teacher be any less than Lord Hashirama?
Even if he bore the title of "God of the Ninja World."
Their tense exchange ended there. The Third Mizukage swiftly moved through the forest.
A few days later, the Third Mizukage arrived at the Hidden Mist Village with Nagato.
He had been away for several days, during which many ninja had defected from the village.
But he didn't care about such details—as long as the village remained intact, everything was fine.
Arriving at the Kage Building, he ordered someone to summon Elder Genji.
Elder Genji was the head elder of the Hidden Mist, who originally wielded great power, yet had been heavily suppressed by the Mizukage.
"Mizukage-sama, you left the village all these days just for this child?"
Elder Genji spoke with clear disapproval—he couldn't understand.
Was this boy even worth such effort?
"That's none of your concern."
"Take the boy away and guard him well."
"No harm must come to him."
The Third Mizukage had no intention of explaining. After issuing the orders, he moved to dismiss Genji at once.
Were it not for needing him to handle certain affairs, Genji might not have walked out alive.
"Mizukage-sama."
"Three Jonin have defected from the village *yet* again."
"This is the cost of bringing back this child."
"Do you think it's worth it?"
Genji argued persistently. He truly couldn't understand the Third Mizukage anymore.
"Enough. It won't happen again."
The Third Mizukage waved his hand impatiently, softening his tone slightly.
"I hope you can keep your word."
After a moment's thought, Genji sighed and led Nagato outside.
If things kept going like this, what would become of the Hidden Mist?
He truly feared for the village's future.
The Third Mizukage, as if he hadn't heard a word, sat calmly for a while before slowly rising and returning to his residence.
Nagato followed Genji to a hidden prison within the Hidden Mist Village.
"Kid, you've got guts."
Genji already knew Nagato came from Konoha.
After so many days, it would be ridiculous if he still didn't know who his enemy was.
"It's not that we're bold—it's that your Hidden Mist is just weak."
Nagato gave Genji no face, speaking harshly.
"Hmph… Arrogant little brat."
Elder Genji's face flickered with anger. If it weren't for the Third Mizukage's promise, he would have shown Nagato true agony—a fate worse than death.
"Whether or not you're arrogant—you know it yourself."
Nagato rarely spoke a word even after half a day, but today, he stood his ground.
"I…"
Elder Genji had already raised his hand high in the air. In the next second, a heavy slap was about to strike Nagato's face.
But Nagato lifted his head proudly. His wild and defiant attitude was completely different from usual.
"Are all of you from Konoha this arrogant?"
"We'll see how long you can keep acting tough."
Elder Genji knew well the methods the Third Mizukage had employed over the years. He didn't think Nagato would end up well at all.
He just needed to sit back and watch the show unfold.
"That won't be necessary."
Nagato followed Elder Genji forward. He remained composed—as if accepting his fate without resistance.
"Go inside."
Before them stood a prison locked behind powerful seals, effectively blocking all ninja sensory techniques.
"This won't go unanswered."
A faint smile tugged at Nagato's lips as he strode into the prison, calm and collected.
"What? Still hoping someone will come save you?"
"Do you really think Kirigakure is made of mud?"
"No matter who comes—it's death either way."
Elder Genji wasn't inexperienced when it came to dealing with prisoners. From Nagato's eyes, he saw confidence—not a little, but plenty.
"We shall see."
Nagato lay down on the bed and said nothing further.
Smiling slightly, Elder Genji thought to himself, Fool—he doesn't even see death looming.
Click… click… click…
As footsteps echoed away, Elder Genji gradually disappeared into the distance. Thus began Nagato's life of imprisonment.
Days passed. Meals came three times a day, and the food wasn't bad.
Still, Nagato grew increasingly confused.
He had never imagined that his eyes were borrowed—and that he was nothing more than a vessel.
Nor had Kawaki told him that defeating Madara Uchiha would make those eyes truly his.
...
After leaving Konoha, Kawaki headed straight for the Land of Water. Even without Flying Thunder God marks, he moved at incredible speed.
When he reached the border of the Land of Fire, Kawaki did not choose to take a boat—that would have been far too slow for him.
Running across the sea was effortless for him.
As long as he could sense the Flying Thunder God mark on Nagato, he could instantly rescue him.
Still, revenge came first. Finding Madara Uchiha through the Third Mizukage would just be a bonus.

Kawaki finalized his plan and entered the territory of the Land of Water.
He made no effort to hide. Along the way, he paused only briefly in towns to rest.
Whether or not he'd be discovered didn't matter much.
That was the confidence strength brought.
As he drew closer to Kirigakure, Kawaki still hadn't sensed the Flying Thunder God mark on Nagato.
By now, he knew—he'd have to storm in and take him by force.
"Is this it?"
Standing atop a tall mountain, Kawaki muttered to himself while looking down below.
A massive village loomed in and out of the thick fog.
"Such a beautiful place. No wonder it became a tourist spot."
Kawaki smirked slightly and leapt from the mountaintop, rushing straight down toward Kirigakure.
Each of the Five Great Hidden Villages had its own barrier. In the event of an enemy invasion, the Barrier Team would sense it immediately.
Before long, Kawaki arrived at the entrance to Kirigakure.
He briefly compared it to Konoha's gate and found it lacking in comparison.
Slowly walking forward, crackles of lightning danced around his body.
*Boom!!*
With a deafening explosion, the main gate of Kirigakure, along with the surrounding walls, exploded into rubble.
"Intruder! We have an intruder!!"
Instantly, several Kiri ninja shouted loudly.
One after another, signal flares lit up the sky. The village alarm blared.
How many attackers could there be to dare assault Kirigakure outright?
*Swoosh! Swoosh!!*
A storm of kunai, shuriken, and other ninja tools whistled through the air toward Kawaki.
[Lightning Strike Armor] active, Kawaki didn't move a single step.
As the smoke and dust cleared, Kawaki stood fully exposed before the Kiri ninjas.
"Only one person?! He dares attack our entire village?!"
When the Mist ninjas saw clearly that Kawaki was alone, they were all stunned.
"Is he insane?!"
In their understanding: A single individual challenging an entire village—such a thing, they had neither seen nor even heard of before.
"It's Kawaki Hatake!"
"Requesting backup!"
