Chapter 218 - Chapter 218 Lightning Strike Armor

Hidetada Onoda took on the difficult task Kawaki had assigned, relying entirely on his reputation to visit various departments across Konoha.

He went from Anbu to the Interrogation Unit and beyond, using every connection he had just to finalize the exam questions.

Putting on a smile despite the humiliation, he kept reminding himself that enduring hardship now would lead to sweetness later.

Thinking along those lines, tears silently slid down his weathered face—what karma could have brought him such suffering?

After the exams, the successful Genin were assigned to four distinct classes.

The Medical Class naturally had the fewest recruits, which wasn't surprising to Kawaki since becoming a Medical Ninja required the highest standards.

Naturally, the Combat Class had the largest number of recruits, each Genin demonstrating mastery in a particular jutsu.

The Interrogation and Command Classes had roughly equal numbers.

Finally, Kawaki pulled every possible string he could to get Tsunade to approve some funding. As for instructors, he enlisted veterans from the Second Shinobi World War as instructors.

Thus, the Advanced Class at the Ninja Academy was officially established, causing quite a stir within Konoha.

Anyone with a hint of foresight could see the importance of these reforms at the Ninja Academy.

Upon hearing the news, Hiruzen Sarutobi held an in-depth conversation with Homura Mitokado.

After stepping back from the seat of power, both men could see things more clearly and could only sigh in admiration at Kawaki's grand vision.

The two retired elders couldn't help but marvel at how Tsunade had gained such a capable aide.

Under her leadership, Konoha would surely regain its vitality and expand into brighter and broader horizons.

This particular afternoon,

inside the Hatake family training hall, two figures crackled with arcs of lightning as they faced off.

"C'mon, bro, give me your best shot!"

Kawaki smirked arrogantly, puffing out his chest like he was asking for a beating.

"I'm gonna kill you today."

Without another word, Sakumo charged forward with his short blade.

Today, it was time to settle old scores!

A sudden gust swept the still air as lightning cracked overhead.

Sakumo's eyes burned with determination, and in the blink of an eye, he closed the distance between them.

His blade gleamed with white chakra as he drove it straight into Kawaki's gut without hesitation.

It stung a bit—but not much.

Kawaki stood his ground to test the durability of his Lightning Strike Armor.

The impact sent him stumbling back several meters,

and everyone watching from the sidelines collectively held their breath.

"Haha! Did you skip breakfast or something, bro?"

Kawaki rubbed his stomach, where not even a mark remained.

"No wonder Sakumo's always itching to punch him. I've never met anyone this insufferably smug."

Dai muttered to Yūhi Shinryū beside him.

"I'd want to slice him too."

Shinryū nodded in agreement.

If he had a little brother like that, he couldn't even begin to imagine the stress.

"Fine then. Don't hold back."

Sakumo repositioned himself; indeed, the armor's defensive capabilities were terrifyingly strong.

Before mastering this secret jutsu, Kawaki wouldn't have been able to withstand his blade directly.

Besides, Sakumo himself had learned Lightning Strike Armor, significantly enhancing his strength.

He was just a little behind Kawaki—barely a step, really.

"Don't hold back. Come on!"

Kawaki felt extremely confident about himself; thanks to his cheating ability, his Lightning Strike Armor already rivaled A's.

He was growing stronger through refinement, while Sakumo had to start from zero. Naturally, there was a huge gap.

"Ahh!"

Sakumo roared loudly as more chakra gathered on his body's surface, reaching the strongest level he could currently control.

Crackle!!

Sakumo vanished in an instant, leaving everyone stunned, and a white Thunder Dragon opened its bloodthirsty mouth toward Kawaki.

The roaring Thunder Dragon, its claws bared, looked almost tangible; compared to it, Kawaki appeared tiny like an ant.

Boom!!

A massive explosion rang out, sending smoke and dust flying everywhere.

"This might get out of hand."

Shinryu stood up anxiously, his sunflower seed frozen mid-bite. He knew Sakumo's strength all too well.

For Kawaki to take that head-on was definitely risky.

"It should be fine—they're brothers after all. Their bond runs deep."

Dai pretended to stay calm, straining his eyes to peer through the smoke.

"Kakashi, Dad!"

Little Kakashi panicked at this moment, abandoning his friends Kurenai and Gai, racing forward on his little legs straight into the smoke cloud.

"Woof!"

Ghost Mastiff and Little White had no choice but to flank and protect him. If this little troublemaker stumbled and got hurt, they'd probably get beaten up.

"Kakashi, slow down when you run!"

Kushina chased after him and scooped Kakashi into her arms.

She wasn't worried at all—Minato had hyped up Kawaki's strength so much that she found it almost laughable.

Kurenai and Gai were being supervised by two other girls, one of whom was none other than Mikoto Uchiha.

Since Dai declined any official position, Tsunade just assigned Kushina to train under him, forming a trio class.

Originally, someone strong had been promised as Kushina's teacher, and she kept her promise.

During the Second Shinobi World War, Dai had shined brightly; nobody in Konoha dared question his strength.

That was brute-force glory earned through battle after battle.

But now these three girls had it tough, stuck babysitting under Dai all day long.

They hadn't completed a single mission, and Dai couldn't even teach them ninjutsu.

In Kawaki's words, "This is one big nonsensical mess."

Before Kushina could reach the site holding Kakashi, she saw two figures walking out from the smoke.

"Dad is fine; he was just playing around with your uncle."

Sakumo approached first, taking Kakashi into his arms and offering a warm smile.

"Uncle… Uncle…"

Kakashi touched Sakumo's chin, then reached both hands toward Kawaki upon seeing him.

"Good boy, you actually care about others now."

Under Sakumo's murderous glare, Kawaki stepped forward, taking Kakashi from Sakumo.

That nonchalant glance pierced deeper than any sword.

"Can't beat you? Fine! But your son still adores me more—how does that feel, old man?!"

"Hatake Kawaki..."

Before Sakumo could issue a threat, Natsuki's voice arrived from afar.

"I asked you to watch the kids, not demolish the place!"

A huge deep crater marked where Kawaki and Sakumo had fought, not yet repaired.

Natsuki didn't need to think twice—who else could've caused this kind of chaos but those two hotheads?

"No, we were just having a light spar."

"You know, right?"

Sakumo quickly put on a smile and started explaining to his beloved wife.

When he turned around, he didn't forget to signal with his eyes, reminding Kawaki to stick to their cover story.

"Yeah, I was just messing around with Big Bro."

"Big sister-in-law, thank you for your hard work."

Kawaki greeted Natsuki while carrying Kakashi, and standing beside her were Shinryu and Dai's wives.

The three of them went to the Senju mansion to help out, so they left the children in their husbands' care.

Just back from outside and before even entering the house, they heard a massive explosion that nearly scared the life out of them.

When Shinryu and Dai saw their wives arrive, they hurriedly rushed over to return the baby, but unfortunately, it was already too late.

Both got scolded and were labeled as unreliable.

Kushina and her two companions watched the scene unfold like a comedy show, finally felt a sense of relief.

Babysitting is the worst!!

"Kawaki, your wedding with Tsunade isn't that far off anymore."

"The Senju side has already made all the arrangements."

"We shouldn't be stingy on our side either, so you still need to double-check everything yourself."

"Got it?"

Natsuki took Kakashi from Kawaki's arms and gave him a few more reminders.

"Got it, Sister-in-law."

Kawaki cheerfully agreed. It was such luck having his sister-in-law around—he barely had to worry about anything at all.
