Chapter 2 - The Blessing of Destiny

Chapter 2 – The Blessing of Destiny

The palace of King Kuntibhoja was lively that morning. Birds sang from the tall trees, flowers bloomed in the gardens, and the servants moved quickly with joy in their steps. But everything stopped when Durvasa Muni entered the palace.

A hush fell over the entire court.

Durvasa was no ordinary sage. He was feared for his short temper but also respected for his great power. Wherever he went, even kings bowed low and gods paid attention.

He walked into the royal garden with slow, measured steps. His long, wild hair flowed behind him. His eyes shone with an inner fire, and his presence made the wind still. Time itself seemed to hold its breath.

In front of him stood a young girl with folded hands—Princess Kunti.

Though still a teenager, Kunti had cared for the sage personally during his visit to the palace. She cooked his food, washed his clothes, and followed his instructions without question. And most importantly, she had done it all with a calm heart.

Durvasa looked at her with approval. "You have served me well, child. With patience, respect, and devotion."

Kunti bowed. "It was my honor, great sage."

He smiled—rarely seen on his face. "Few can serve without pride. Fewer still can serve without desire. You asked for nothing in return. That is rare."

Kunti kept her head bowed. "I did not expect any reward."

Durvasa nodded. "All the more reason to bless you. I will give you something special… a divine mantra."

From the folds of his robe, he pulled out a scroll that shimmered with light. Strange symbols glowed on its surface.

"This mantra," he said seriously, "comes from the deepest laws of the universe. If you recite it with full focus, it will summon any one of the gods. That god will bless you with a child—a child born of their essence."

Kunti looked up, stunned. "A… a divine child?"

"Yes. But use it only when truly needed. Do not test it out of curiosity."

Kunti nodded with wide eyes, unable to speak. She accepted the scroll with trembling hands and touched it to her forehead in respect.

Durvasa smiled again. "Your destiny is great, child. Greater than you know. Be ready."

With that, the sage left as mysteriously as he had arrived. But his words would stay with her forever.

That Night… A Curious Heart

Kunti couldn't sleep. She sat alone in her chamber, staring at the glowing scroll.

The words of the sage echoed in her mind.

> "Any god… will come."

She looked at the scroll again. What harm could come from trying it—just once?

"I just want to see," she whispered to herself.

With a mix of fear and excitement, she closed her eyes and recited the mantra aloud.

The air grew heavy. A golden glow filled the room. The temperature rose.

Then, in a flash of light brighter than the sun, a tall, radiant figure appeared.

Surya, the Sun God himself, stood before her.

Kunti froze. His body glowed like fire, yet his expression was gentle.

"You have called me, dear one," he said kindly. "And I have come."

Kunti fell to her knees. "Forgive me! I didn't know it would work!"

Surya shook his head. "There is no fault. You were curious, and destiny answered."

He looked at her, and his eyes filled with sadness.

"What happens next… is not your doing. But what is born tonight will change the fate of the world."

Before Kunti could understand, the light surrounded her—and when it faded, she was alone.

But not truly.

She looked down and felt the warm, steady heartbeat of a child growing inside her.

The Celestial Realm… The Trimurtis Speak

Far above the world, in a realm untouched by time, Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahadev (Shiva) sat in a circle of light. Their eyes watched over countless worlds and souls.

A new thread of fate glowed in Brahma's hand.

"The soul of Karna… is returning," he said quietly.

Mahadev closed his eyes. "He has suffered enough. Let this life be his true chance."

Vishnu watched the thread closely. "Let no one know—not even he. Let him walk his path, unaware… until he becomes ready."

The three nodded.

Far in the distance, Goddess Parvati, Lakshmi, and Saraswati also watched. They said nothing, but their gazes followed the child's soul with gentle sorrow and hope.

Only one more god knew the truth.

Surya, the celestial father.

He had seen the child. He knew his curse.

> Any child I touch will suffer bad luck.

Any child I bless will face hardship.

But this time, it would be different.

For the child would carry more than just Surya's light.

He would carry a system hidden from all but the highest gods.

The Birth of Karna

Under the early morning sky, in a quiet corner of the palace, Kunti gave birth—not with pain, but with wonder.

The baby boy was unlike any she had ever seen.

His skin glowed like polished bronze. His tiny fists were strong. And most striking of all—two golden earrings were fused to his ears from birth.

Kunti gasped. She knew no human child could be like this.

"He is… divine," she whispered.

And from deep within the boy, a voice only he could hear echoed:
