"Ouch!" I screamed in agony as I landed on the dry grass. "Genny, are you alright?" Mateo asked, assisting me by the waist while I replied with a nod. I scanned the surroundings with my eyes to make sure the coast was clear. Then we began walking until we got to the main road. We stopped a taxi, and then we began heading towards the airport. Throughout the journey to the airport, I kept staring at Mateo. He maintained a calm expression throughout the ride. He had a deep gash where his dimple should have been, and blood was seeping out, along with another two deep gashes intersecting his eyebrows. We got to the airport in twelve hours. We checked in with fake IDs and passports. The plane was scheduled to take off in fifteen minutes, so we had some time to snack. I rested my head on Mateo's shoulder, and my full weight pressed on his lower body. Just three years ago, we were recruited into LAMBDA and had to make a choice between punishment and becoming part of the LAMBDA Government Controlled Suicide Squad – a group of released criminals who do the government's dirty work. We had just finished eliminating a witness to a crime committed by the prime minister. It was a bloodbath. Our secret service counterparts were there to protect the witness, but they shared the same fate. To face my dad during the gunfire, he managed to escape on a chopper.
