He stumbled out of his room, his vision swaying, forcing him to brace himself against the wall. A searing pain lingered in his muscles.
After a brief walk, he nearly collided with Noah outside Selina's room. They both froze.
Zane's blood ran cold at the sight of Noah gripping Selina's luggage.
Their expressions turned grim as they locked into a challenging stare.
Zane's voice cracked. "What are you doing?"
Noah's jaw tensed. "I'm sending her away. I won't stand by and watch you destroy yourself for her—or that baby. I won't let her ruin you."
Zane's eyes narrowed, rage sparking despite his exhaustion. "You can't blame her. This was my choice."
"Your choice? You almost died for it! Five minutes, Zane! That's what it would have taken to kill you forever!"
"Put it back," Zane said, his voice low and final.
An oppressive silence filled the air as they stared each other down, unspoken words simmering beneath the surface.
Then footsteps echoed from below.
