I was surrounded by pitch black, I couldn't figure out where I was or what was going on. I thought that it would be pretty cool if I was in some sort of isekai situation where I get transported to one of my favorite anime worlds. Though I doubt that's actually going to happen.
"Actually that's exactly what's going on right now." A voice said out of nowhere.
"Huh? Who said that?" I asked.
"It's not important who I am, what is important is that we're about to transfer you into an anime world. Isn't that exciting?" The voice asked.
"Yeah I guess that's a good point." I said hesitantly. Eventually the man who was speaking came into view. That being said I couldn't see his face clearly because he was wearing a large hood over his head.
"That's the right attitude. Anyway let's get started." The man said.
"Yeah I wonder what kind of power I'm going to get." I said as I started to get hyped up for this, after all, it's not everyday you get to experience an anime in person and get some kind of an awesome ability.
"Well, about that… we actually got in a bit of a fiasco during our last isekai. To make a long story short, we got our power license revoked. So basically, we can't give you any powers."
"Huh? So you're just going to drop me off in
Some anime world without any powers?" I asked. "What am I supposed to do without any powers?" As I asked I got a closer look at the guy and noticed that he had a 5 o'clock shadow and smelled like cigarettes.
"Hey! Did Goku get any special powers?"
"Well, yeah technically…"
"No! He didn't. He worked hard for everything he got. Are you afraid of hard work?"
"No, I guess not." I said, starting to feel like he had a point.
"There you go, now all we got to do is see what anime world we can put you in." He said as he tapped on a computer as suddenly we seemed to be in a small office cubicle. This experience started to feel a little less magical and a little more municipal. "Ok, so like I said we did get a bunch of our isekai privileges revoked, so there's not a lot of anime worlds to choose from."
"So, obviously all the big name anime are out. No Dragonball, No Naruto, and definitely absolutely NO One Piece!!!" He continued. "You understand?"
"Yeah no One Piece, I got it." I said, wondering why he was so adamant about it not being One Piece.
"Anyway, usually we would use a random lottery to decide which anime we send you to, but since our options here are pretty sparse I figured I could just let you pick which one you go to." He continued.
"Alright, well that's pretty cool at least." I said as I started to look at the bright side. "So what are my options?" I asked.
"Well, there are actually a whole lot of options. Just most of them aren't your typical Shonen battle anime." He said as he typed away at his very old looking computer.
That news was a bit disheartening as most of my favorite anime were of that style. I was looking forward to fun adventures and epic battles with super powered abilities, but I still thought that I had a chance of getting something good. I felt that chance slipping away as the guy read off his list and continued to mention mostly romantic comedies and sports anime, among many series that I had never even heard of.
Don't get me wrong some of the titles that were mentioned sounded like they would be pretty cool, but I was hoping for something a bit more exciting.
"Hey, you said that most of the series you have aren't Shonen battle anime but does that mean that you do have some?" I asked.
"Yeah we do, but like I said we don't have much." He clicked a few more times on his computer. "Yeah here, we only have three in our system right now."
"Alright, what are they?"
"Let's see, now keep in mind these options aren't that popular. So the first is One Punch Man."
"One Punch Man? That's awesome! Why wouldn't that be a popular option?"
"That's because it comes with a condition, and that is that you have to just have to be a regular construction worker. You can't become a hero or do anything cool. You can only work as a construction worker."
"That sucks, that's what I do now."
"Yeah but if you think about it they do have a lot of work because buildings are always getting destroyed. You could make a lot of money."
"Eh, that's alright. What else is there?"
"Well, we have My Hero Academia, and it doesn't have any conditions."
"You got anything else?"
"Yeah I didn't think that you'd be interested in that, anyway our final option is…"
