Chapter 200 - Chapter 200: The Mastermind

As they exited the small mausoleum, Sreine, though also taking some treasure, didn't take too much so as not to hinder his fighting ability. Seeing how careless the others were, he immediately reminded them, "Alright! The priority now is to leave this place immediately. I have a bad feeling."

"Captain, you're being too cautious," the skirmisher teased. "But I get it. Getting treasure from a tomb always comes with a 'thief's' guilt. You'll get used to it."

"Seth!" Sreine frowned. He wasn't a rookie adventurer who had just started out. He didn't feel guilt, but rather a palpable sense of danger. This intuition had helped him escape danger many times. Ever since they had carried the treasures out of the mausoleum, he felt as if a terrifying giant beast was watching them from the darkness.

"Alright, alright, let's hurry up and leave then," Seth said. The others complied and quickened their pace.

Just then, Sreine, who was running in front, changed his expression. He dropped the bag containing the gold coins, drew his magical longsword, and took a defensive stance.

"Captain, is there..."

The other team members were stunned by his sudden movement. Before they could ask, they also saw what Sreine was preparing for. Several Undead skeletons emerged from underground, blocking their escape route. The Undead army looked like a combination of warriors and archers, without any Magic Chanters or rogues. However, the [Beast Fangs] team dared not underestimate them at all. They all looked tense, as if facing a formidable enemy.

"Hey, hey, are those magical weapons?" the priest muttered, his eyes fixated on the weapons that shimmered with the faint, unique light of magical armaments.

"Damn it!" Sreine inwardly growled. The real threat was not the ordinary Undead, but the one standing at the very front. It was a skeletal warrior wrapped in shimmering golden armor, holding an extraordinary golden spear, and a dark red cloak.

A Nazarick Master Guard. A level LV25 to LV30, one of the most powerful mob Undead NPC types that were automatically generated.

"Act."

An unseen voice sounded from somewhere. The Master Guard immediately charged at the [Beast Fangs] team with astonishing speed.

"Mamon!" Sreine shouted, and the priest behind him quickly cast enhancement magic on him.

Defense Against Evil!

Lesser Power Boost!

Shield Arm!

While being enhanced, Sreine entered the attack range. Although Undead skeletons had strong resistance to punctures and slashes, bludgeoning damage was the most effective. However, by beheading them, the Undead's threat would be drastically reduced. With that in mind, Sreine swung his sword with all his might, aiming for the Master Guard's unprotected neck.

"Super Slash!"

The attack was as fast as lightning. However, to Sreine's surprise, the Master Guard easily blocked his attack just by holding its spear in front of it. Its arm didn't even tremble.

This, this Undead!?

The battle ended in ten minutes. Sreine, the strongest, was speared in the stomach by the Master Guard's spear, and his magical sword clattered to the ground. The Undead dragged the gravely wounded adventurers, one by one, into the central mausoleum.

Sreine, who was near death, barely managed to lift his head when he felt the Master Guard holding him suddenly stop. In front of him, stood a man in a dark red suit.

Is this the lord of the tomb?

Human... no, a monster.

Sreine saw the tail swaying behind the man and confirmed his identity. At that moment, a shadow standing beside the man approached and used magic on him.

Buzz!

An invisible wave enveloped his body. The next second, Sreine was shocked to find his body had completely recovered. It was a healing magic.

What do these people want?

"Tell me, who are you and why are you here?" the monster in the red suit asked.

Sreine realized it was too naive to hope for a monster to be kind. The man just wanted to extract information. The healing was only to prevent him from dying too quickly.

"If I cooperate, can you let me die painlessly?" Sreine asked.

Demiurge was slightly surprised. This human wasn't begging for his life. Did he know that he couldn't truly survive, so he gave up on that fantasy? He was quite smart.

"That depends on your cooperation. If everything goes smoothly, I can grant you a painless death," Demiurge pushed up his glasses, a cunning smile appearing on his face.

After the interrogation, Demiurge ordered the Master Guards to send the [Beast Fangs] members to the den of the Starving Fox-Dragon King, then returned to the Throne Hall with the information he had confirmed.

"Adventurers from the Re-Estize Kingdom, hired by a noble to explore the ruins?" Ainz, sitting on the throne, tapped his finger on the armrest. "Demiurge, do you think this matter is that simple?"
