Chapter 12 - The Morning Call

Chapter 12 — The Morning Call

When Lin Hao woke up the next morning, soft sunlight filtered through the half-open curtains, bathing the room in a warm golden glow.

He stretched lazily on the enormous bed and sighed in satisfaction. "Man… I haven't slept this well since kindergarten," he muttered, smiling to himself. "Maybe money really does buy dreams — or at least good mattresses."

Reaching for his phone, he squinted at the screen. 8:30 a.m.

"Still early for a rich man," he said with a grin. "I guess even success comes with responsibilities like brushing your teeth."

After spending ten peaceful minutes scrolling through news, memes, and a short clip of a raccoon stealing someone's drink, he finally got up, yawned, and headed for the bathroom.

---

Half an hour later, Lin Hao emerged — hair neatly dried, dressed in a black and gray fitness outfit that hugged his athletic frame. Despite his sudden fortune, he didn't want to look like one of those billionaires who got winded walking up stairs.

His private gym occupied an entire section of the penthouse — mirror walls, polished floors, and equipment that gleamed like they had been placed yesterday. A pair of large boofers on either corner connected to the penthouse's smart system.

"Alright," he said, stretching his arms, "let's not get fat before buying a yacht."

The moment he said "play workout music," the speakers burst to life, filling the gym with rhythmic beats. Lin Hao started jogging on the treadmill, gradually increasing the speed. Then he moved to light weights, crunches, and some shadowboxing.

By the time an hour passed, his shirt was clinging to his skin, his chest was rising and falling steadily, and a small grin crept up his face.

"Not bad," he said, admiring himself in the mirror. "Six months as a delivery boy and look at me now — muscles courtesy of desperation."

He chuckled and went for another refreshing shower.

---

When he returned, towel around his neck, he called the service desk through the landline.

"Good morning, Mr. Lin," came the gentle voice of the concierge.

"Morning," Lin Hao replied, adjusting the towel. "I'd like to have breakfast delivered. Something light — healthy, but not boring."

"Understood, sir. Would you like our executive wellness breakfast set?"

"What's in it?"

"Avocado toast topped with poached eggs, smoked salmon salad with olive dressing, seasonal fruit platter, and a glass of imported almond milk."

Lin Hao raised his eyebrows. "Sounds expensive."

"It is, sir," she said politely.

"Perfect. Send it up," he said with a satisfied grin.

---

Fifteen minutes later, the breakfast arrived on a sleek, wheeled service trolley — the kind used in five-star hotels. Everything was presented on fine porcelain, with silver utensils and a faint aroma of citrus in the air.

The salmon was fresh, the avocado perfectly ripe, and the eggs cooked just right — soft, golden, and creamy in the center.

Lin Hao ate slowly, savoring the smooth texture of the salmon and the clean taste of the fruits. "Healthy food isn't bad," he thought, cutting into his toast. "No wonder rich people live long enough to get bored of it."

He leaned back after finishing, scrolling through a few videos on his phone, until a sudden vibration made him glance down.

An unknown number.

He frowned. "Who's calling this early? Hopefully not a gym membership ad."

He swiped to answer.

"Hello?"

A calm, confident voice came from the other end.

"Good morning, Mr. Lin. This is Lorenzo Rossi, President of Lamborghini Asia-Pacific. Am I speaking to Mr. Lin Hao?"

Lin Hao straightened immediately. "Yes, this is Lin Hao. Good morning, Mr. Rossi."

"Good morning," Rossi said smoothly, his Italian accent crisp but pleasant. "I'm calling to inform you that your annual dividends will be transferred to your account by tomorrow morning. In addition, Lamborghini has prepared a special welcome gift for our new shareholder."

Lin Hao blinked. "A gift?"

"Yes. It's a prototype supercar, one that hasn't yet been made public. Its name is the Lamborghini Fenice — inspired by the mythical phoenix. A hybrid masterpiece with an all-carbon monocoque chassis, over 1,200 horsepower, and a top speed exceeding 430 kilometers per hour."

Lin Hao froze, his mind trying to process the numbers. "Over four hundred…?"

Rossi chuckled. "Yes. It's still under limited testing. Only three units currently exist — one in Italy, one at our R&D center, and one reserved for our most promising shareholder. You, Mr. Lin."

"Most promising?when did this happen?"he thought remembering the attitude of several shareholders at the meeting.

still,nonetheless he thanked him.

Lin Hao's mouth went dry. "That's… very generous, Mr. Rossi."

"Not at all," Rossi replied warmly. "Consider it Lamborghini's way of saying — welcome to the family. Our logistics team will contact you later today to handle delivery and provide a full technical brief."

"Of course. I'll be expecting the call," Lin Hao said, forcing his tone to stay calm, though his pulse was racing.

"Then I'll let you enjoy your morning, Mr. Lin. Once again, congratulations."

The line went silent with a faint click.

Lin Hao slowly lowered the phone.

For a moment, he just sat there, staring at the skyline beyond the glass walls. Then he muttered, "A Lamborghini that doesn't even exist yet…? Damn, System, you're making me look like an emperor out here."

He leaned back and chuckled to himself. "At this rate, if I get a yacht next week, I won't even be surprised."

And just then —

> [Ding!]

Host's emotional stability: optimal.

> Reminder: Success requires consistency, Host.

"Yeah, yeah," Lin Hao replied, rolling his eyes. "You sound like my PE teacher now."

Still, he couldn't hide his smile. Life had finally become more than just survival — it had become a symphony of luxury, opportunity, and just enough mystery to keep him on edge.

He poured himself a glass of cold almond milk, lifted it toward the sunlight, and whispered with a grin,

"To another day in paradise."
