Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: Shocked

Before sunset, Bell arrived at the Guild.

Since it was late afternoon, a lot of adventurers were still deep inside the dungeon, but those on the upper floor had already returned.

This difference in timing left the Guild unusually quiet, with the rush hour having just passed.

As soon as he entered the Guild, Bell spotted Eina sitting at the reception desk.

He was lucky because he didn't have to deal with any unfamiliar receptionists.

With that thought, Bell walked straight toward Eina.

"Miss Eina."

Just after finishing a busy moment, Eina suddenly heard a familiar voice. After looking up, she realized it was the new adventurer from yesterday.

Eina remembered the boy's name was Bell Cranel and considered him a cautious adventurer.

Because of that, she said some things to him that were somewhat harsh.

Thinking back to some things she had said to him last time, Eina's attitude became noticeably more serious.

As a receptionist, she knew that her approach wasn't wrong, but as a person, she also realized that her words might have hurt him a little.

After seeing how mature and thoughtful the boy was, she couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.

Looking closer now, Eina noticed traces of a green substance still lingering on Bell's face.

It was blood—probably goblin blood. It seemed he had just returned from the dungeon, likely from the first floor.

"Bell-kun, did you just come back from the dungeon?"

"Yeah. I was just wandering around the upper floor, checking out the goblins. After getting close to them, I realized that even the goblins on the first floor weren't easy to deal with. It might not have gone so smoothly if I hadn't been lucky today."

Eina carefully looked at the boy in front of her and sighed.

'If he were just a little older, he might be better suited to handle the dangers of the dungeon.'

However, it wasn't within her authority to interfere with that decision as a receptionist.

"I came here today because I was hoping you could help me with something, Miss Eina."

Bell didn't beat around the bush and got straight to the point.

Besides wanting to know the latest information about the dungeon, the other reason was to handle the magic stones and drops he got from the dungeon.

Eina immediately understood what he meant. However, she was a bit confused as to why he needed her help.

The Guild had a special counter nearby specifically for buying and selling magic stones and drop items.

"Is there some particular reason?"

Eina didn't know the reason, but she didn't press him for an answer.

She gave a slight nod, stood up from her seat, and gestured toward a side room to handle private matters.

"Then, Bell-kun, please wait for me in that room. I'll be there in just a moment."

"Thank you."

Bell was truly grateful that Eina trusted his words. It seemed that she was even kinder than he had originally thought.

If that was the case, he figured he'd ask Eina to help him handle his magic stones and drop items from now on.

He stood up and walked toward the room Eina had just pointed out.

There were no locks on the outside, and Bell just opened the door and went in.

After closing the door, Bell noticed that the inside of the door was equipped with several special locks.

After the door was shut, he couldn't hear any sounds from outside. The room had no places for light to shine through, and there wasn't even a window.

The only light came from an orange-yellow magic stone.

'The privacy of this room is guaranteed. As long as no one sees me taking out a large number of magic stones and dropping items, no one will know about this skill unless Eina is somehow manipulated or accidentally reveals something.'

'But if someone were truly capable of that, they probably wouldn't be human. As for hiding things from the gods… I can only hope for good luck. As long as I'm lucky enough, no one will pay attention to someone as insignificant as me.'

The room had a long table in the center and sofas on both sides for a few people to sit on.

Bell didn't choose to sit down. Instead, he stood quietly by the side, waiting for Eina to arrive.

Soon, Eina entered the room alone. After opening the door, she immediately noticed Bell standing and waiting for her.

Eina was momentarily taken aback, but then she motioned for Bell to sit down.

"Bell-kun, please sit down."

"Mm."

Bell didn't hesitate and immediately sat down across from her.

"Bell-kun, where are the things you need to handle?"

Eina was now curious about why Bell wanted to speak with her privately.

If it was just to sell some magic stones and drop items, she might need to have a serious conversation with him.

It wasn't okay to joke around while working.

Of course, Bell wasn't joking.

Since he would need Eina's help with handling the magic stones and drops in the future, Bell also needed to tell her about some things.

Bell clasped his hands together, made a small sound, and then slowly opened them with countless magic stones that fell onto the table like rain.

"Eh?"

Eina, who had seen and learned a lot, was stunned for a moment.

'What did Bell-kun just do?'

With that thought, Eina instinctively grabbed Bell's hand. She checked carefully and confirmed that there were no holes in his palm.

Magic!

Eina immediately understood.

The reason Bell had been able to clap his hands and make countless magic stones fall from his palm was due to magic.

However, Eina also quickly realized the nature of this magic and understood why Bell had been so cautious.

"Bell-kun, just now… was that magic?"

Bell nodded slightly.

"Is it... space-type magic? The kind that can store items?"

Bell nodded again.

After confirming this, Eina immediately covered her face with her hands.

In that moment, she realized the seriousness of the situation.

If Bell's magic were to be exposed, then all the gods in Orario would come after him.
