Chapter 16 - Chapter 15: The Loot of the First Floor

"Just as I thought."

Bell smiled slightly.

This time, he didn't shift his body to the left and adjusted his balance slightly backward and slightly to the left.

The goblin's dagger narrowly missed him, not even brushing against him.

Before the goblin could take a stance, Bell's prepared dagger swiftly cut across the goblin's throat. It didn't decapitate the goblin, but it still caused a fatal injury.

The Bell collected five daggers and five small magic stones.

'This drop rate is way too high! Is it really this easy to get stuff from monsters?'

Even though he hadn't finished watching the anime DanMachi, Bell still knew that the drop rate from monsters wasn't typically that high.

After all, it was rare for low-floor monsters to consistently drop magic stones, let alone extra items.

The idea of getting consistent drops seemed like a fantasy.

Even though the drop rate should be low, Bell got something from every single goblin, which definitely seemed a bit strange.

No matter how Bell thought about it, the only reason he could come up with was luck.

After all, no one can control the monsters in the dungeon, and even if they could, they wouldn't make the monsters drop items just for him, right?

Bell didn't think item drops could be aimed at one person on purpose.

"Maybe it's just luck."

Shaking his head, Bell decided not to dwell on the issue anymore.

The whole "monster drop rate" thing didn't really matter much as long as no one suspicious was watching him.

Moreover, Bell didn't plan on teaming up with other people in the future. After all, this was the dungeon—not some friendly, happy place.

'From now on, I need to be extra cautious. I still need to grow for a while before revealing any information.'

To keep his secrets safe, Bell decided to stay low-key.

'Those goblins don't seem like mindless creatures at all. They got smarter after I used the same trick just once.'

Bell was starting to question the idea that monsters lacked intelligence.

A monster without any intelligence wouldn't act the way that goblin did.

He glanced at the guild's guidebook in his hand and frowned a little. Now, Bell wasn't sure if the rest of it could be trusted. He knew he had to be more careful from now on.

Suddenly, the sound of many footsteps reached his ears. Bell stopped thinking and quickly stored the magic stones and daggers in his storage.

In the dungeon, it was best not to dwell on such matters, at least not until he was certain about the safety of his surroundings.

'The goblin info has been collected. Their agility and flexibility are fairly average, and their defense is extremely low. Ordinary weapons can easily inflict damage but their strength is surprisingly high.'

'However, as long as I avoid direct confrontation with the goblins, I don't need to worry about their strength. Since their speed and agility, I just need to catch them off guard even once to be able to hunt goblins in large numbers.'

'Next, I need to spend more time exploring this floor.'

Bell listened carefully to the sounds around him. After the fight earlier, he noticed his hearing and sense of smell had improved greatly.

He still couldn't tell exactly where monsters were by smell, but he could use his ears to hear if any were walking nearby.

From the sounds, Bell confirmed that monsters were moving nearby. The sound of the footprint is similar to goblins.

'I don't have to worry about anything else for now. First, I need to save up enough for a ten-times pull. After that, It's time to start saving up again.'

For many adventurers, the first floor of the dungeon isn't worth spending much time in.

This was because the first floor only spawned goblins, and goblins almost always dropped magic stones, but only with a certain probability.

Once adventurers got past the first floor, they stopped wasting time and continued their adventure on the first floor.

However, Bell was different. Given the relatively high drop rate of goblins for him, along with the magic stones and daggers, he thought it was smarter to stay on the first floor for his first day.

In fact, Bell did just that.

He entered the dungeon early in the morning and didn't emerge until late afternoon.

Before officially leaving the dungeon, Bell carefully hid his face with a hood.

Even though his actions seemed somewhat suspicious, a few people glanced at him, but he just shrugged it off.

This was because Bell was wearing nothing but a simple cloak and didn't even have a backpack.

They could tell that this person was a complete beginner. They probably thought he was just trying to cover up his lack of experience.

Then, Bell headed straight to the guild.

The magic stones he had collected in the dungeon needed to be traded, and he also had a bunch of daggers that needed to be dealt with.

The two lower floors had relatively weak monsters, and there wouldn't be a situation where Bell couldn't handle goblins with just a dagger.

If such a situation had occurred, Bell would only have the option of looking for an opportunity to escape.

'I hope Miss Eina is still there.'

Bell quickened his pace as he headed toward the guild. He needed to return home before sunset to report his safety to the goddess.

If he didn't hurry, he'd waste a lot of time processing the magic stones and drops later.

In fact, the guild's working hours were much longer than Bell had imagined.

They start at nine in the morning and work all the way until seven at night on the morning shift, but the night shift is unknown.

However, the guild's regular tasks weren't that complicated. Even though the work hours were long, they weren't so exhausting that they became overwhelming.

There were breaks in between shifts, and he might miss Eina if he happened to arrive during a shift change.

But today, Bell was lucky!
