Synopsis
At sixteen, Dren Valemont enrolled in the Sealers' Academy, not by his own merit, but because of the legacy of his grandfather—the legendary man who once saved the world from being consumed by creatures from dimensional rifts. Like all teenagers, Dren was given an orb, an artifact that, during adolescence, begins to reflect its bearer’s magical and emotional affinity. The orb doesn’t just measure magical potential; it responds to an inner drive to protect, to fight, and to sacrifice. This connection is known as the Echo Bond—a resonance between the user’s soul and the purpose that drives them. But Dren’s orb remains dormant. No response. No light. No power. As if the revered legacy he carries isn’t enough to awaken the bond. To others, he’s a disappointment—a glorious name in an empty shell. And yet, Dren refuses to give up. He won’t rely on a power that won’t answer him. Instead, he will be trained by a legendary assassin who will teach him to fight with speed, precision, and lethality—blending martial arts and weaponry into a combat style as efficient as it is relentless.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Master Godan, I believe I've advanced quite deep into the dimensional rift, and it doesn't seem very safe to be here, so please be quick in telling me what the next objective is."

Dren had ventured into one of the dimensional rifts that had appeared. He had eliminated the creatures in his path one by one, using only a knife-gauntlet. Now he was requesting new orders while speaking to his master through a radio on his wrist.

"Excellent, boy, now you just need to wait..." said Godan with complete calm.

"What?! But wait for what?! Don't you realize I'm in great danger here?"

Dren grew worried about the senselessness of the orders considering his current situation.

"Come on... Just wait a moment, don't be impatient."

Godan had barely finished speaking when the floor began to shake violently.

"What the hell is that, Godan?!" exclaimed Dren in fear, unable to stand due to the powerful tremors.

"That is your next trial, my dear apprentice..."

"Next trial?! Do you want me to die in a cave-in?!"

"Of course not, just wait a bit."

Within seconds, several sizeable creatures emerged from the walls. Their bodies were covered in stone and their yellow eyes gleamed in the darkness.

"Godan, what the hell are those things?!"

Dren instinctively adopted a defensive stance with his weapon as the creatures surrounded him.

"Those, my dear Dren, are Stone-Eating Moles. And since you've reached their lair, they won't rest until they kill you. If you want to get out quickly and in one piece, I'd hurry if I were you."

"Are you insane, Godan?! It'll be impossible to face these creatures with my weapon!"

Dren jumped to dodge one of the moles that lunged at him. The creature crashed against the wall, making the cavern tremble.

"It's not impossible... I was able to do it. Well... it cost me a lot, but I managed, so you'll be fine... or so I think. Anyway, I'm off to get something to eat."

With that said, Godan simply cut the call.

"Are you serious?! You're going to leave me to my fate against these monsters?!"

Dren barely had time to shout when he saw another mole running straight toward him from behind.

"Damn it...! I won't be able to dodge it! I'll have to defend myself!"

"ARGHH!"

Crossing his arms in front of his body, he took the creature's attack. The impact slammed him against the wall, making him spit blood.

"It's impossible... Even with my armor they're able to injure me like this. I'm going to die here..."

On his knees, he watched in fear as the Stone-Eating Moles prepared to attack him again. Their jaws crushed small stones, anticipating the feast.

"No... The master trusts me, otherwise he wouldn't have left me here to my fate... I must not give up."

Dren wiped the blood from his mouth and drew his second weapon from his belt. The two knife-gauntlets gleamed in his hands.

"Here I go! HAAAAA!"

Without hesitating any longer, he lunged at the creatures. His blades sought any crack between the stone plates while he dodged attacks with agility renewed by adrenaline.

The real trial was just beginning.
