He had read about reincarnation more often than he could count but he had never thought it would actually happen to him. No time to panic now! This was an opportunity, an opportunity for a better life than the one he had been given. He put back on his clothes and checked the clock, 7:00, he had to go to the academy for the graduation exam. He had inherited not only Kyo Chikusa's body but also his experience, he was sure he could graduate. Not at top of the class, he spent too much time developing his kekkei genkai to focus on the academy three but he would definitely pass. He wondered which team he would be sorted into?
He walked through the streets of Konoha. The village was huge, way bigger than the manga made it out to be but he found his way without any problem, as if he had walked the path a thousand times, he supposed he had, actually.
He walked into the academy and straight into the right room, where he sat down. The time? 7:32, still 28 more minutes till the exam would start. His eyes shifted over each of the students, there was nine of the konoha 12 but also some no name students who would never be more than cannon fodder, if they made it to be shinobi at all. Over thirty students, of which 27 would graduate and of those 27, only nine would make it to be genin. It was a brutal system but one which bred exceptional shinobi. 9 new genin every year. During wartime, this would've been way too few but in this relatively peaceful time, that was more than enough. Of the nine ninja's each year, statistically, only 3 would make it to be chunin and only one jonin. This year was an anomaly. With so many powerhouses in one year… Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki, Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka and all the others. No one here was weak, well, no one but Sakura perhaps. Though she would get way stronger once she was taught by Tsunade. But then again, that might not happen. His mere existence was a butterfly effect. He would replace one of the konoha twelve, just who though, that was the question wasn't it?
The two chunin instructors, Mizuki the traitor and Iruka walked in, handing out exam papers, "You have an hour to complete this. Just the basics"
Yeah, it was indeed 'just the basics'. Only the truly dimwitted students would fail this exam. For those with an IQ above room temperature, it was hard but doable, for the more intelligent, like Shikamaru Nara for example, it was trivially easy.
Most finished within 45 minutes, some closer to 30 minutes and Naruto wasn't done until 55 minutes in. Two students however, two civilians, didn't even manage to finish within the 60 minutes they were given, 'Idiots'
The instructors gathered the papers, putting them in a box.
"Now that that's done, we'll move over to the practical portion of the exam. You'll have to perform the transformation jutsu and the clone jutsu. Using any variations of the techniques, such as a water clone, will give extra points", Iruka sensei explained.
"No! Why the clone technique?", he heard Naruto whining.
"First, Izuku Aana", a civilian walked over and performed the transformation jutsu to make himself look like Mizuki. A rather bad attempt at it too.
"Barely passed, now, the clone technique"
Izuku formed the seals and one clone appeared.
"Pass"
"Shino Aburame"
The shades wearing student walked over and did the seals, transforming into a perfect copy of Iruka sensei. Before forming another few seals, "Insect clone!"
Insects swarmed out of his body and a second Shino appeared.
Some of the students recoiled. Iruka poked it with his pen, "A solid clone, not bad, you pass"
Choji Akimichi passed as well, using the normal clone technique.
"Kyo Chikusa"
He smiled, this was his time! He walked up and formed a seal, within a puff of smoke, there stood a replica of the third Hokage.
Iruka studied the creation, "The eyes are a bit off but otherwise, a pretty good application. I assume you want to use your blood clone? Here take this kunai"
"Thanks", he took the Kunai and rolled up his sleeve, slashing at his arm, just deep enough to draw blood. His technique, didn't actually require an entire person's worth of blood to create a clone, he would die if it did. No, it only took a small amount of blood. The chakra cost however was higher than the normal elemental clones, who had more substance to work with but with his chakra reserves, he could use quite a few before running out. His reserves were almost unparalleled in the class, only Naruto had more and he didn't count, protagonist, uzumaki and jinchuriki, it was like cheating three times over. Like with Shino, some of the other students recoiled, seeing him draw blood. It probably was good that most of them wouldn't make it as shinobi. A shinobi afraid of blood? They were mini Tsunades, only without the redeeming qualities of the Sannin. They were academy students, not war veterans.
He formed his seals and, with a puff of red smoke, a solid clone took place next to hi, "Blood release: Blood clone"
Again, Iruka prodded it with his pen, "Another solid clone, you pass"
Kyo smiled, dismissing the blood clone. It dissipated into a cloud of red smoke.
He sat back down, watching the others taking the exam, only four didn't pass, two civilians who couldn't perform the transformation jutsu, one who couldn't do either jutsu and the last one… well, when Naruto walked up, he performed the seal, "Sexy jutsu!" and a naked, grown up, female naruto stood there. There was quite a bit of nose blood.
"Damn you Naruto! Couldn't you have done a normal transformation like the others"
"Yeah, but that would've been way less fun", he snickered.
"The clone jutsu then?"
Naruto's face darkened and he tried doing the clone jutsu but the result was… underwhelming.
"You do not pass", Iruka said, flatly.
"Come on, Iruka, give the boy some slack, he did his best, can't we close an eye for him?", Mizuki asked.
"Most students managed three fully formed clones or even a more advanced clone jutsu and he hasn't even been able to produce one, I am sorry, I can't let him pass", Iruka said with finality.
