Ember remained seated, watching with fascination as the Queen tended to the flowers with the kind of care that could only be reserved for a newborn.
Each wilting, dying, or sick flower that was brought to her was carefully examined from tip to root, before she then proceeded to give a diagnosis which was most often than not apt given the case.
Even though Ember watched her, her mind was elsewhere. Something that the Queen must have noticed.
"Is there anything else?" The Queen said, not looking up to her.
There was in fact something else. An elephant in the room that the both of them were intentionally ignoring. Which was the fact that that day was the anniversary of Elara's death. Also the day that Ember's coven was massacred.
Putting that into perspective, it didn't seem like the attack from the witches last night was anything but simple. The timing was just… off.
