Thalara beamed, perfecting her act. "At the end of the day, Elara is my daughter as well." She said pragmatically, "And I would treat her as I would my own child. It's just that we don't get to see her all the time; the Queen hoards her to herself. Which makes sense—if I had a daughter as excellent as her, I wouldn't allow others easy access to her."
Ember was forced to level the woman with a glare. If not for anything, for the fact that her snide comments and irritating dramatic act was getting too much.
"The High Consort seems to have forgotten, but the reason why my mother hid me from the public eyes in the first place was because I was poisoned at birth." She said evenly.
