The moment I step outside, a weird feeling washed over me. It was like a warm shiver, a tiny prickle on the back of my neck.
Someone was watching me.
My fingers are still wrapped around the doorknob as I glance over my shoulder, my eyes searching the dark, quiet street for whatever—or whoever—was watching me. There was nothing but empty sidewalks and the yellow glow of the streetlamps casting long, creepy shadows
Okay.
Maybe I'm imagining things.
Where is he?
The thought popped into my head uninvited, and I scowled at myself, rubbing my left arm to chase away the goosebumps. Why was I looking for him? Why did I care? What do I mean? He is taking me out because I couldn't sleep haha.
I pull the door shut and immediately struggle with the lock.
Why is this thing suddenly fighting me?
"Come on…"
I twist it once.
Nothing.
Again.
Still nothing.
I glance nervously toward the windows.
