Elric, who was fleeing with his men, could not return to their base as it had already been burned down.
Right now, they were in enemy territory, and most of their unit had been killed or captured. The Fenrirs and the airships had been destroyed. The communication orbs were not working, as something was jamming them.
This was only the fourth night since Elric's failure, but morale had plummeted to the bottom; many of the remaining men were tired, thirsty, and hungry.
A soldier stumbled behind Elric. Two others caught him before he struck the ground, but his legs would no longer support him.
"We must stop, Your Highness."
Elric turned toward the officer walking beside him. "We stopped an hour ago."
Elric looked beyond them. Several men had already leaned against the trees. One was trembling in the cold night air.
