A house in the middle of Mayburn, owned by a wealthy merchant, was the place Alexander and his group were now heading towards.
They had already checked a few other houses and were heading to the next. Yet as they got closer, James, who was with them in human form, stopped and sniffed around.
"I smell Lily!"
Alexander stopped beside him. "Where is it coming from?"
James turned toward the merchant's house and took another breath. "The fog is still making it difficult, but I can smell her from here. She's close."
James could no longer hold it in and sprinted towards the merchant's house. Alexander and the others did not say anything and quickly followed.
James pushed the door open and rushed inside. Something lunged at him from the darkness.
A man in an embroidered coat struck at his face, his mouth stretched open, and his teeth bared.
James caught the reaching arm, but before he could push the man away, a woman appeared beside him.
