Vampires were considered to be one of the strongest races. They were also a race with many weaknesses.
They have a weakness to light-based spells, and they pretty much burn in the sun. They also can't cross rivers and can't enter another person's home without permission.
Though stronger vampires, like the true ancestors, have overcome most of these weaknesses and can resist some.
Still, they also have some quirks as a race; like many of them, they cannot resist counting grains of rice when scattered in front of them.
They also have a strict hierarchy; the one who turns the other into a vampire controls his subordinate's life or death.
The farther down the line, the lower the purity of the vampire. At the very top of the hierarchy were the True Ancestors, the progenitors of the blood. They were the first to become such beings.
They have existed since the first cataclysm of the world, when dragons still filled the sky, and deities walked the land.
