After leaving the shrine of the priestess, Sasame finally got a true glimpse of this world.
Poverty and chaos.
Along the way, he was robbed several times.
Among the thieves was even a so-called "Bandit King," rumored to command the strength of an entire nation.
In reality, he only had a few samurai and a couple hundred villagers.
Sasame effortlessly took their valuables instead.
Unlike in the future, currency here consisted of gold and silver, not paper money.
A single ryō now had over ten times the purchasing power.
Before long, Sasame found himself quite wealthy.
He had assumed the Bandit King's claims were exaggerated—until he discovered they were, in fact, true.
On the road, he stumbled upon two nations at war: the Land of Forests and the Land of Mountains.
A grand battle unfolded before him, with thousands clashing in brutal combat.
Sasame could only watch in silence.
Compared to the wars of his past life, where armies numbered in the tens or hundreds of thousands, this "grand spectacle" was almost pitiful.
But upon reflection, it made sense—this was ancient Japan, after all.
Now he understood why Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had sought to end the era of war.
There simply weren't enough people.
Only by uniting them could the Divine Tree be properly cultivated.
Following the map provided by Kikuri, Sasame finally arrived at the Land of Ancestors.
Compared to the other nations, this one at least resembled something functional.
Its scale was larger, with an estimated population in the tens of thousands.
No wonder Kaguya had come here.
The only problem was the Emperor—a complete scumbag.
His reason for betraying Kaguya was utterly absurd.
Under threat from the neighboring Land of That, he had been told: Hand over Kaguya, or we invade.
And so, the Emperor agreed.
Honestly, the anime's original plot was ridiculous.
Sasame arrived at the capital of the Land of Ancestors—a city that looked even smaller than Konoha.
"Who goes there?"
A group of samurai blocked his path at the palace gates. "Commoners are forbidden entry."
In this era, daimyo and nobles still reigned supreme.
Their power was even more absolute, given the absence of supernatural abilities.
Sasame activated his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.
With a single glance, the samurai returned to their posts, ignoring him completely.
He strode forward.
"You—"
Two guards froze in place.
"Take me to the Emperor," Sasame ordered.
In the original story, the Emperor wasn't a title—it was his actual name.
Normally, a ruler like this would be called a daimyo, not "Emperor."
If he was a daimyo, then Kaguya's arrival couldn't be far off.
Before long, Sasame stood before the Emperor of the Land of Ancestors.
Dressed in resplendent robes, his hair coiled at either side of his head, he carried himself with far more vigor than the common folk outside.
In both looks and bearing, he stood above the rest.
In an age of war, only nobles and rulers had the privilege of living well.
Sasame suspected Kaguya had been swayed by appearances.
Between two entirely different species, attraction must have hinged on looks alone.
If that were the case, Sasame liked his own odds.
"How did you get in here?"
The Emperor stared at Sasame, then at the guards. "Why did you bring him to me?"
No answer came.
A sense of foreboding struck him. He opened his mouth to call for help—but then his mind went blank.
"Now, how to confirm which version of Kaguya's story this is?"
Sasame studied him, deep in thought.
Killing him would prove it.
But death was irreversible.
Better to leave room for error.
He could use Fate Points to resurrect him, but that felt like a waste.
"Kill your younger brother."
Though Sasame had no medical ninjutsu, he possessed the Sage's Body.
If necessary, he could always restore the Emperor later.
Obediently, the Emperor drew a katana from his side—and slashed downward.
Blood sprayed.
But under Sasame's control, he made no sound.
[Your actions have altered the Emperor's fate. You have gained 10 Fate Points.]
No Kaguya. No Hagoromo or Hamura.
This confirmed it: the manga version.
"Now kill yourself."
Without hesitation, Sasame issued the next command.
The Emperor raised his blade—and severed his own head.
His body collapsed, drenched in blood.
[Your actions have altered the Emperor's fate. You have gained 48 Fate Points.]
Not bad.
Sasame immediately took on the Emperor's form, seizing control of the Land of Ancestors.
He ordered all subordinates to report immediately if they encountered a woman with white hair and pale eyes.
Meanwhile, the shinobi world was in an uproar.
After Sasame entered the Dragon Vein, Shimura Danzō revived himself with Izanagi.
But he didn't dare stay—Rasa and the others had all been captured.
Alone, he stood no chance of returning to Konoha and claiming the Hokage's seat.
"Sasame!"
Hatred dripped from Danzō's voice.
He knew he hadn't killed him.
Before dying, he had witnessed the Flying Thunder God Technique.
And there was no corpse or trace left behind.
Sasame had escaped.
All his scheming—ruined.
The Sand Village, the Shimura Clan—gone.
Once again, he was left with nothing.
But as long as he lived, there was still hope.
"I'll be back."
Gritting his teeth, Danzō vanished into the swirling sands.
Not far away, atop a high platform—
After Sasame abandoned Rasa and the others, the remaining shinobi slowly regained their senses.
"Am I dreaming?"
Yūhi Kurenai's jaw hung open, wide enough to fit a fist.
Her shock was palpable.
The image of Sasame's overwhelming power was seared into her mind.
Just thinking about it made her legs tremble—
No, shiver uncontrollably.
"Probably not a dream."
Hatake Kakashi crouched, examining Rasa with his Sharingan.
No genjutsu. No clone or transformation techniques.
This was the real Kazekage.
As a prodigy of Konoha, Kakashi had become a jonin at twelve.
In all his years of battle, he had never captured a Kage from one of the Five Great Nations.
His thoughts turned to Sarutobi Hiruzen.
Touted as the "God of Shinobi," his actual feats were… underwhelming.
Hashirama Senju, on the other hand, had earned his title.
He had ended the Warring States Period and defeated the Kage of his time.
And now, another Hokage had achieved the same.
Effortlessly.
Kakashi exhaled.
Konoha's future was about to get very interesting.
Perhaps tragedies like Obito and Rin's wouldn't repeat themselves.
"Kakashi! I'm fired up!"
Might Guy clenched his fists, tears streaming down his face. "So strong! Lord Hokage! I must challenge him to a battle of youth and passion!"
His voice brimmed with fighting spirit.
"..."
Kakashi side-eyed him, unsure how to respond.
Sure, Guy was formidable with all Eight Gates open—but against a Buddha statue thousands of times larger?
And with the Flying Thunder God, Sasame could kite him indefinitely.
"Lord Hiashi."
Kakashi turned to Hyūga Hizashi. "Should we return now?"
With Rasa captured, the Sand shinobi wouldn't take this lying down.
Sasame had gone after Danzō—who knew when he'd be back?
If the Sand's forces surrounded them now, another bloody battle was inevitable.
Especially with Chiyo and Ebizō, the two Sand elders, still out there.
"Huh?"
Hizashi blinked, still dazed.
Sasame's overwhelming power had shown him what a shinobi could truly become.
Even Hashirama Senju couldn't have been stronger.
No wonder his brother, Hyūga Hiashi, had taken such an interest in Sasame—
Even offering up his own daughter.
Under normal circumstances, the main family never married outside the clan.
Hizashi now regretted one thing deeply.
Why did I have to have a son?
If only he'd had a daughter, he could've secured that connection.
Even as a Hokage advisor, he was still outmaneuvered by Hiashi.
A son-in-law who was Hokage? That was unbeatable.
"Lord Hiashi."
Kakashi repeated himself. "We should leave for Konoha immediately."
"You're right."
Hizashi snapped out of his thoughts, his expression hardening. "Everyone, move out."
With Rasa and the others in tow, the group departed swiftly.
Half an hour later, shadows descended upon the battlefield.
Leading them was Chiyo, her short lavender hair framing a deeply lined face.
She surveyed the desert now littered with trees—and closed her eyes.
Her senses screamed of an overwhelming, monstrous life force.
"Terrifying."
She took a slow breath. "Konoha has birthed another Wood Style user. The Sand will never rise again."
"What now?"
Ebizō's usual calm had shattered. Cold dread settled in his chest.
With Kazekage Rasa and the One-Tail's jinchūriki captured, the Sand was at its weakest.
The cost of retrieving them would be astronomical.
But if they didn't, the Sand would cease to be one of the Five Great Nations.
The Cloud, always hungry for war, would strike without hesitation.
"We have no choice. We must sue for peace."
Chiyo's jaw tightened. "Rasa started this. We're in the wrong. Let's pray this new Hokage is as lenient as Hiruzen."
Normally, the journey from the Sand to Konoha took three days.
But news traveled faster.
Before Hizashi's group even returned, the shinobi world was ablaze.
Konoha, Hokage's Office
Tsunade was slumped over her desk, fast asleep.
Shizune sighed, watching her with exasperation.
Without Sasame around, she had reverted to her lazy ways.
A knock sounded at the door.
Tsunade jerked awake, her cheek still bearing the imprint of paperwork.
"Your face."
Shizune pointed.
"Oh."
Tsunade wiped it off carelessly. "Must be news from the Sand."
"Enter."
Shizune called out.
A masked ANBU appeared, handing over a scroll.
"Dismissed."
Tsunade waved him off, unrolling the message. A grin spread across her face. "Just as expected."
Before leaving, Sasame had told her about Danzō and the Dragon Vein.
Though the Sand had been involved, the outcome was perfect.
"Well?"
Shizune adjusted the pink pig in her arms.
"See for yourself."
Tsunade's expression brimmed with pride. "This'll knock your socks off."
This was her man, after all.
No matter where he went, he excelled.
Her tongue flicked across her lips.
With such a grand achievement, how should she reward him?
"Impossible!"
Shizune's eyes widened after reading just the first line.
The report stated that Sasame had captured Kazekage Rasa and the One-Tail's jinchūriki.
She almost wondered if the ANBU had misreported.
Rasa was one thing—but the One-Tail too?
When had her junior grown this strong?
"Shizune, summon the council. And spread the news to the villagers."
Tsunade stood, every inch the decisive Hokage. "We're milking the Sand for every penny. Sasame's earned us that much."
Meanwhile, the major clans received the news moments later.
Hyūga Compound
Hyūga Hiashi's hands trembled.
He knew Sasame possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Now, Wood Style too?
A fusion of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha?
Hiashi thanked every deity that he hadn't made a fatal mistake.
Otherwise, the Hyūga Clan's thousand-year legacy would have ended by his hand.
Ino-Shika-Chō Trio
"Shikaku, you were right."
Chōza Akimichi smiled, his round face cheerful.
He was referring to Nara Shikaku's advice during jonin meetings—always support Sasame.
From advisor to Hokage, they had never opposed him.
At first, they hadn't understood. Now, it was clear how wise that choice had been.
"I never imagined he'd be this powerful."
Shikaku shook his head. "Even the Third pales in comparison."
"And Wood Style—of all things."
Inoichi Yamanaka's thoughts turned to his daughter, Ino.
Sasame was still unmarried.
And young—only a few years older than Ino.
If they could arrange a match, the Yamanaka Clan would soar.
Sarutobi Compound
Sarutobi Hiruzen stood frozen.
How could this be?
After today, Sasame could remain Hokage for life—if he wished.
"His Wood Style… is different."
Hiruzen thought of Sasame's Senju heritage.
Clearly, Tsunade had hidden the real reason she took him in.
"A counterfeit can never compare to the original."
Hiruzen sighed.
The Senju transplants in his clan couldn't hold a candle to this.
If they had even one percent of that power, he'd be grateful.
Konoha, usually so lively, was now in a frenzy over Sasame's feat.
Elderly villagers who remembered Hashirama's era wept. "He's returned. It's all coming back."
Those too young to have witnessed it celebrated as if it were a festival.
For now, Konoha basked in joy.
