Chapter 12 - 12

Chapter 12: "Savage" (Seeking Follow-Up Reads)

The bright beams of the lasguns, hand-crafted by the finest artisans of the Hantexi Dome, shot out, two beams almost simultaneously and accurately piercing the eyes of one of the Ogryns.

"Not good, that kid found us."

The guide shouted towards the "smart head," who was at least a head taller than the other Ogryns and could count to five.

"Charge! Kill him, or we'll all die!"

The "smart head" swung his club and roared,

"Smash!"

"Meat!"

As all the Ogryns excitedly echoed "Smash!" and "Meat!", another large one fell.

Ogryns had a long stride. Their walking pace was equivalent to several steps of a normal person's run, and their high-speed charge was like a human-shaped tank charging during a hive war.

But they were no match for Nimrod's bullets. Terrain, distance, the Ogryns' running speed and size—all these data points were variables factored into his brain's calculations, completing the model instantly.

Two Ogryns were pierced by four beams, as if they had run directly into the light.

The "smart head" reacted, using his left arm to shield his eyes and running in a zigzag pattern.

Sure enough, he wasn't hit by the beams.

The two guides, however, lost their confidence. Nimrod's marksmanship was too accurate.

They had heard the knowledgeable Arbitrator mention that fatal wounds that would kill a normal person several times over were nothing to an Ogryn.

Lasgun shots hitting their thick hides would only create a bloody hole, not enough to bring them down. This was also the reason for Dimitrov's confidence.

But they found that every shot Nimrod fired accurately hit the Ogryns' vulnerable eyes.

Whether they were standing still and ambushed or running at high speed made no difference.

Thinking of Nimrod's achievements in just over twenty work cycles, they lost their courage and turned to flee at the same time.

"Cowards!"

Estupinian's guard captain glanced at them disdainfully. He was filled with resentment. His master didn't trust them and hired brainless Ogryns, making them just a supporting role.

[Intelligence and discipline are the true essence of combat!]

The guard captain shouted, "Attack!"

Twenty elite guardsmen pulled their triggers, unleashing a hail of bullets at Nimrod.

In the next moment, the heads of the two fleeing men exploded, their bodies falling to the ground with dull thuds.

The guard captain was shocked. The boy had actually dodged the attack at high speed while simultaneously raising his gun and shooting down two people.

He quickly ducked his head, trying to hide behind a discarded machine tool.

A guardsman didn't hear the captain's voice and turned his head to look, only to see the captain's skull shattered, his eyes wide as he fell to the ground, before darkness claimed him.

By the time the "smart head" rushed to the entrance of the passage, there were no living people behind him, but he didn't know and didn't care.

His mind was filled with only one thought: smash the target boy to death and go back to eat meatloaf.

Seeing the boy draw a chainsword and wait for him at the entrance of the passage, the "smart head" immediately swung his club to smash him.

With a loud bang, the club smashed into the wall of the abandoned factory above the passage.

Nimrod, through his positioning, lured the "smart head" into a blocked attack. Then, seizing the opportunity, he leaped up, the roaring blade of the chainsword slicing into the Ogryn's thigh.

"Ah!"

The Ogryn let out a miserable cry. Nearly a quarter of the flesh on his thigh was cut away, and bone was visible.

"Smash you dead!"

The "smart head" had learned his lesson this time. The club didn't scrape against the rock wall but smashed into the metal pipes of the passage, instantly creating a large dent.

Nimrod circled the Ogryn, fully utilizing the narrow passage. The "smart head's" height was the same as the passage, and swinging his meter-long club was restricted everywhere.

Every swing of Nimrod's chainsword landed on the Ogryn's legs, gradually connecting them.

With a loud crash, the "smart head" fell to the ground. Only then did the Ogryn realize that his legs were gone.

"Send two teams. One team to carry him back, the other to guard."

"Remember, don't damage his arms."

"Yes, boss."

Two teams immediately came to the entrance of the passage. Approaching the half-Ogryn at close range, they immediately felt the bulkiness of this giant.

Even though they were the best-fed in the underhive, the Ogryn was four or five times as wide as them.

After Nimrod sent two teams to drag the main ingredient back, he waved at Bukayo, who was looking at him with admiration.

"Lead the way!"

"Yes, boss!"

Bukayo replied loudly, turned around, puffed out his chest, and led the way.

The group continued forward until a dense web appeared before them. Bukayo whispered his report to the boss.

"Boss, we're less than a kilometer away from the abandoned dome where the spider's nest is. We've entered its警戒范围."

Nimrod nodded slightly. His superhuman senses had already penetrated the layers of dense webs, sensing the enormous creature.

"Set it on fire!"

Ten gang members immediately threw the incendiary bottles in their hands, smashing them forward.

Dozens of promethium-laced incendiary bottles immediately ignited a large fire. The webs melted away as if they were dissolving, disappearing at a visible speed.

Incomplete, charred black corpses rolled and smashed onto the ground.

The subordinates' eyes stung. They quickly put on their respirators. After their vision recovered, they saw the惨状 on the ground.

The ground was covered in white bones, not a single one intact.

Bukayo worriedly reminded Nimrod, "Boss, when I scouted before, I happened to encounter the Black Widow hunting."

"It's over twenty meters tall, and its lung sac is as big as three or four adults."

"The sound of it inhaling and exhaling is sharp and piercing, making people dizzy. Anyone hit by the airflow will have their bones shattered, collapsing to the ground, waiting despairingly for it to come to their side."

Nimrod glanced at Bukayo. The boy had witnessed such a terrifying scene and could still remain calm. He was promising material.

He turned his gaze forward. The Black Widow was getting closer. He said to the two rat-catching teams,

"Spread out and attack, be careful not to attack the lung sac."

"Yes, boss."

The rat-catching teams immediately moved, hiding behind discarded equipment.

The rat-catchers nervously watched as a behemoth crawled down from above.

Its giant lung was only a few meters above the ground.

A rat-catcher's hand trembled, and he pulled the trigger.

In his haste, he didn't aim, and the bullet hit the lung sac.

Nimrod cursed inwardly, then saw that the bullet had bounced off. The lung sac only trembled slightly.

[As expected of the main ingredient for a Sequence 8 potion, it's much tougher than ordinary lungs.]

The Lung Spider's fourteen eyes flashed coldly. Its lung sac suddenly inhaled, and a hurricane seemed to sweep through the passage.

Just as the Lung Spider was about to exhale the powerful air in its lungs, a gunshot rang out, and a beam pierced one of its eyes.

The other ingredients had already been gathered. There was no need to capture the Lung Spider alive; only the lung sac was needed.

The Lung Spider's remaining thirteen eyes all turned towards the boy below.

As soon as it met the boy's pitch-black eyes, its body trembled. Instinct told it that the boy was more dangerous than everyone else combined.

With a loud boom, Bukayo and the others seemed to hear the roar of a cannon, and the entire passage shook violently.

They looked worriedly at the boss and then saw the terrifying shockwave smash the discarded equipment into pieces.

"Boss!"

Bukayo cried out in grief. Since he had fled to the underhive, he had struggled to survive, eating one meal and starving for three days.

It wasn't until Nimrod appeared that, although life was still hard, he could at least eat his fill.

If the boss wasn't around, no one could control this large group of people. He didn't want to go back to his previous life.

Just then, a dazzling beam of light illuminated Bukayo's eyes, also illuminating his gloomy heart.

Another of the Black Widow's eyes was shot through. The boss wasn't dead!

The beam flashed frequently, and as the smoke dissipated, Bukayo saw the boss's figure again. The Lung Spider had lost all its eyes.

It took a deep breath and blindly released shockwaves in all directions.

"Shoot its spider legs!"

Nimrod shouted loudly. Everyone pulled their triggers, unleashing a rain of bullets at the Black Widow.

The blind Black Widow struggled futilely, causing the deaths of four rat-catchers.

Nimrod used the chainsword to cut off the lung sac, had four rat-catchers carry it, and returned to the Magneto Steelworks.

He immediately began to concoct the "Savage" potion.

The psychic crystal was thrown into the Lhas-Felt, and the furnace immediately erupted with a dazzling light. Then, the thrown-in Mittal Steel quickly melted into molten steel.

After he threw in the Lung Spider, the furnace made a series of explosive sounds.

[Won't it explode?]

Nimrod thought worriedly, but his hands didn't slow down, throwing in the "smart head's" arm.

The explosions immediately ceased, and a brilliant black light erupted.

He waited for the light to dissipate and scooped out a black, gelatinous substance from inside.

It was still a unified whole, with no residue left in the furnace.

Nimrod directly tilted his head back and drank the Sequence 8 "Savage" potion.
