Bruno still stood in front of Gonda.
The room smelled of smoke and blood. Gonda was on his knees now, and his face had lost the last part of its old pride.
He had already spoken.
He had given the location. He had described the people he had seen. He had also given the name he had heard.
Kael.
Bruno kept the phone in his hand and looked down at Gonda.
For a moment, no one moved.
Gonda's breathing was rough. His eyes kept moving between Bruno and the phone. He was waiting for one more word from the person on the other side.
That word came.
Adam's changed voice sounded through the speaker.
"End it."
Gonda's eyes widened.
"Wait!" he shouted. "But I told you everything! You said if I talked-"
He could not finish.
Bruno raised his gun and pointed it at Gonda's head.
Gonda saw the barrel.
His mouth opened again, but no useful word came out.
Until the last second, he still looked like he wanted to bargain.
