Chapter 12 - Deal

Kevin listened to Adam his mind still trying to process the strange reality of the situation. Adam opened his mouth and spoke his voice calm and measured.

"Actually for now I want to put two million dollars into your company. But in the future I want to invest even more."

The words hit Kevin like a physical force. He stared at Adam his eyes wide with disbelief. Two million dollars. That was more money than he had ever dreamed of seeing in one place.

And the promise of more in the future was even more shocking. He had just been turned down by investors who would not even give him ten thousand dollars. Now this young man was offering him a fortune.

"Two million dollars" Kevin repeated the words his voice barely a whisper. He felt a wave of dizziness. Then a surge of pure elation. He could finally build his dream. "I am ready" he said his voice now firm and full of a new energy. "I accept."

Adam nodded. He reached down for the simple duffel bag at his feet. It looked almost empty. He unzipped it. Then he reached inside his hand disappearing into the bag. He pulled out thick neat stacks of cash. He kept pulling them out until a mountain of money sat on the small table between them. It was one million dollars. He had already placed it in his inventory earlier and simply summoned it into the bag.

"This is the first million" Adam said as he zipped the bag closed. "I trust you. We can handle the official papers and contracts later. I will bring the other million then."

Kevin was stunned. He was not just stunned by the money. He was stunned by the trust. Signing the papers meant legally making Adam an investor in the company. It was a crucial step. But this young man was willing to give him one million dollars in cash with nothing but a handshake. He was showing a level of faith that Kevin had never encountered in the business world.

A genuine smile appeared on Kevin's face. He looked at Adam with respect. "I didn't think people like you still existed today" he said his voice filled with sincere gratitude.

Adam just nodded. "Goodbye for now" he said and stood up to leave.

Adam knew what kind of man Kevin was. He remembered from his past life. Kevin did not just become rich in the future because of his technology. He became successful because he had character. He was a good person an honest person. In his past life Adam had admired him from afar. This was a different future a future Adam was building himself. But his respect for the man remained.

Adam was walking toward the door when he stopped. He paused and looked back at Kevin.

"And one more thing" Adam said. "I will also provide you with some machines. Free of cost. Consider it my gift to the company."

Kevin was still trying to process the one million dollars. This new offer left him completely speechless. Before he could even ask what Adam meant Adam had already walked out the door.

Adam stepped outside the small apartment building. He looked at the empty space on the sidewalk. With a single thought he opened his inventory. He selected the high-end CPUs and other computer devices he had copied from the store earlier. He pasted them all.

Several large cardboard boxes appeared out of thin air. They were stacked neatly on the sidewalk sealed and looking brand new.

Just then Kevin came out of the apartment. He had followed Adam to see him off properly. He saw the boxes. He stopped dead in his tracks. His mind froze. When he had entered the building with Adam just a few minutes ago this spot on the sidewalk was completely empty. Now it was filled with large professional-looking shipping boxes. He looked at Adam his face a mask of confusion.

Adam pointed at the boxes. "These are the machines I was talking about" he said simply.

Kevin walked toward them like he was in a dream. He looked at the labels on the boxes. He opened one of them. Inside packed in protective foam was a top-of-the-line server-grade CPU. There were other expensive components too. These were incredibly expensive pieces of equipment. Equipment his company desperately needed but could never afford.

He looked at Adam his eyes filled with a new level of awe and wonder. "But Sir Adam..." he started to say.

Adam just held up a hand to stop him. He gave a small wave. "Goodbye Kevin" he said and turned and walked away leaving the stunned founder standing on the sidewalk with his new fortune.

For Adam these things were not important right now. He needed more money and he needed it as quickly as possible. He hailed a cab and went straight back to his five-star hotel.

He sat in his luxurious room looking out at the city lights. He thought about his next move. What could he copy that would make him incredibly rich overnight? What was the one thing that held immense value all over the world?

Then a single thought a single phrase entered his mind. It was the key to his future.

Black Gold. Crude oil.

Adam smiled. A wide predatory smile. 'If what I'm thinking is possible then most of my problems will be solved. I won't have to do much more.' A new and much grander plan was forming in his mind. A plan that could generate a continuous unstoppable stream of income. He lay down on the soft bed and fell asleep waiting for the next day to begin.

Meanwhile in a very different part of the city we see the two boys who were searching for Adam in the park. They were in a huge luxurious house. They stood nervously in a massive room that looked more like a throne room than a bedroom.

They were reporting to a young man lounging on a large black leather chair.

"Boss I searched the whole park" the first boy said his voice trembling a little. "I couldn't find Adam anywhere. He is expelled from college because of your influence. But I don't think he would go back to his village so quickly."

The second boy chimed in. "Yeah I thought he would be in that park. We asked a lot of people there. They said they saw him sleeping on a bench. But then he just disappeared. We don't know where he went."

The young man sitting in the chair listened to their report. Then he started to laugh. It was a loud cruel laugh that echoed through the large room. Several of his other friends were scattered around the room sitting on expensive furniture. When they heard their boss laugh they started laughing too.

The boss he was John Walker looked at the two boys who had failed him. "Where can he run?" John said his voice dripping with arrogance. "He made a very big mistake. He tried to take my Sophia away from me. He will have to pay for that."

Hearing this the two boys looked at each other. They understood. Their boss was completely obsessed with Sophia. They had seen what happened to any boy who even looked at Sophia for too long. Their boss would make his life a living hell.

And this new guy Adam? Sophia herself actually liked him. The thought of what their boss would do to Adam made them smile. They started laughing again joining their cruel leader.
