Chapter 11 - OmegaPhone

Adam walked out of the arcade a new kind of confidence flowing through him. The deal was done. He was happy. In a single afternoon he had secured a sale worth more than a million dollars.

He still could not fully believe it. He had made so much money in such a short time. He now had about two million dollars in total. He could easily copy this money to make more but he decided against it.

It was not necessary. He had a much more important goal. He needed to find the company that would one day rule the entire field of technology.

Adam left the area. He went to the train station and bought a ticket. He did not look back. He was leaving the city where he had suffered for ten years.

A few hours later the train arrived at its destination. Adam stepped onto the platform of a new city. It was evening now. The sky was turning a dark shade of orange.

Night would fall soon.

But Adam would not rest. He would not stop until he found the company he was looking for. Omega Phone.

He stood outside the station looking around at the unfamiliar streets. As much as he could remember from his past life this was the city where Omega Phone was founded.

But he did not know the company's exact address. He saw people walking home from work their faces tired. He decided to just ask.

He approached a man in a business suit. "Excuse me" Adam said. "Have you heard of a company called Omega Phone?"

The man looked at Adam confused. "Sorry friend but I don't know that company." He shrugged and walked away.

Adam did not give up. He asked two more people. Then a third. Each time he got the same answer. No one had heard of Omega Phone. The company was still too small too unknown. He was starting to feel a little discouraged. He decided to ask one last person a young man who was also walking home alone.

Adam walked up to him. "Excuse me. Do you know about a company called Omega Phone?"

This time the reaction was different. The last person he asked stopped walking. He looked at Adam and remained silent for a few seconds his expression unreadable.

Adam was about to ask again when the man finally spoke. "What do you want with Omega Phone?" he asked his voice cautious.

Adam was surprised by the question. But then he looked at the man's face more carefully. A spark of recognition hit him. He knew this person.

He had seen his picture in countless articles and interviews in his past life. This was one of the founding members of Omega Phone. He was the genius who had created the revolutionary operating system that would change the world.

Adam's heart started beating faster. This was his chance. "I actually want to invest in the company" he said his voice steady.

The man looked surprised. He scanned Adam from head to toe looking at his expensive clothes. "Looking at you it doesn't seem like you are in a position to invest" he said doubtfully.

Adam did not get angry. He just smiled. "You should not judge a book by its cover."

Seeing the seriousness in Adam's eyes the man's attitude changed. He understood that Adam was not joking. He closed his eyes for a moment and then sighed.

"Excuse my rudeness" he said. "My name is Kevin. I started Omega Phone." He paused. "But for your information our company is not profitable yet. It will take a long time to build my business completely. I don't understand why you would want to invest in my company."

Adam smiled. "It was always my dream to give a small contribution to what you are making. I don't have the technical skills but I can help you with money."

Kevin was a little surprised. Very few people knew about his innovation. He could not understand where Adam had heard about his project. He closed his eyes again trying to process the strange situation. He then started walking away leaving Adam behind.

Adam quickly followed him. Kevin turned back. "Almost all of our team has gone home. I just came out to get something to eat and now I am going back." He looked at Adam expectantly.

Adam was a little surprised but he understood. "Our office is on this side" Kevin said.

He led Adam to a small rundown building. It looked more like an apartment complex than an office building. They went inside. The office was tiny. It was just a small apartment.

Things were scattered everywhere. Empty pizza boxes computer parts and whiteboards covered in complex diagrams filled the small space. Adam realized he had come to the company very early in its history.

Adam turned to Kevin. "Did you not approach other investors?" he asked.

Kevin looked at Adam his expression tired. "I went to two or three investors. But they feel that our business does not have much potential. So I did not waste their time. I came back."

Hearing this Adam thought to himself 'Even if this company gets more funding right now it will struggle at first. But after they launch a few products the money will start pouring in. The big investments will come soon after. I want to take advantage of this time before anyone else sees the potential.'

He sat down on a simple wooden chair. He put his luggage which was just his inventory on the floor. He looked at Kevin. "Mr..." he started. Then he corrected himself. "You can call me Adam."

"Mr. Adam" Kevin said sitting down on another chair. "How much would you like to invest? And what do you want from this company in return for your investment?"

Adam smiled. The negotiation had begun.
