Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: God have mercy on me

"After many ages of evolution, humanity had reached a point where it made its evolution counter-productive. Earth is crying and suffering from human civilization…."

"This novel is kinda repetitive, I don't understand why it's so famous."

A guy with black hair and yellow eyes, around his 25s, twitched his face and sighed deeply after closing a book.

"I thought that by going to the library I would find an exciting story to read, but what did I expect?"

After the guy left the library, he made his way home with a disappointed look on him.

"I'm home."

After saying this, he entered, not expecting any response.

"I need to fix this habit I got from my childhood. I'm now living in a rented apartment alone."

"Sigh."

He went to his bed, but before he closed his eyes

"I feel wrong about this, a very bad feeling, like I will die in my sleep. Could it be…? Nah, I need to stop this fantasizing imagination of mine. I'm a grown man now."

After minutes of trying to sleep, I sighed for the second time, then jumped from my bed and went straight to watch TV.

"I feel kinda stupid. I mean, what am I thinking? I'm not going to be transmigrated or even reincarnated like heroes from those typical stories, right… right?"

After time passed, I began to stand up and stretch, then went to my bed again. But when I looked at the time, I was genuinely shocked.

"It's already morning. This will ruin my sleeping time schedule, but who cares?"

But before I closed my eyes, I thought

"I still have a bad feeling….."

After a while, I stood up from my bed for the third time and started organizing everything in my apartment.

"I don't understand why I keep having a bad feeling like I'm about to be obliterated if I go to sleep."

The guy sighed and started thinking.

"I can't keep up with this. It's already morning, and I'm very exhausted. I can't be awake the whole day. What should I do?"

After that, he started twitching his hair and said :

"If I can't sleep because of a bad feeling, what am I different from than a kid? I mean, seriously. But I can't ignore it either…" I murmured to myself.

"The maximum amount of days a totally ordinary human can last without sleep is three days straight without any side effects or brain damage. Plus, I'm likely to be absolutely not fully aware of my surroundings, and this means I'm most likely to be hit by a car or a truck . Heck, even a train." He started talking to himself like a crazy man.

"I am going for two dead ends. One is to sleep, and God only knows what will happen to me, or getting myself killed outside… well, I guess I have no choice."

"God, have mercy on me."

With those words, he went to his bed to get some rest. He tried to be half awake, half asleep, but after some time, he gave up completely, unknowingly that his future from this point had already been set, and there was no going back.

….

In some sort of magical place, there was a guy sleeping peacefully, unaware of his environment.

When we zoom out of the place he was currently in, it could be described as an unscientific place with unlimited fields of grass stretching to the distant horizon. But what is truly unbelievable is that in the sky, there is another flat space. This field is somehow different from the last, because it looked like a both-way mirror reflection to the sky. But its ground seemed to be made of pure water, and the shocking thing is that it doesn't reflect any of the endless flat field under it, or maybe above it. Perhaps some people would try to explain it by many things, and the most relevant theory is that they are not in the same dimensions, or maybe the distance between them is some sort of warped or bent space, which sounded ridiculous compared to the first one.

The two endless fields seemed to hover silently in the strange sky, separated by a thin, shimmering veil that distorted reality itself. The air between them was thick with an unspoken tension, as if both worlds were waiting for something to break the fragile boundary.

Suddenly, a faint ripple appeared on the both-way mirror-like surface of the upper field. It spread in the air slowly, like a wave of energy, distorting the reflection in strange, unpredictable patterns. Then a crack began to form, and from that shimmering crack, a figure began to emerge a pale, featureless, and glowing with a soft white light. It hovered silently, watching the sleeping man below.

Inside the sleeping man's mind, a distant whisper stirred something terrifying and powerful, trying to break through the fragile walls of his consciousness, but something external began to obscure it. Blue sparks began to spread through the space, causing the figure, which seemed both divine and otherworldly, to tremble.

Despite this resistance, it continued its designated purpose, and even as it began to disintegrate and crumble into fragments, it did not stop until it vanished completely.

With time, the sparks ceased to spread, and the place returned to its former state of peace and silence. Yet it was disturbed again, and this time a crack appeared under the unconscious body that was lying flat on the field, making him fall to a new place.

.....

When I opened my eyes, a light shone, blinding me for a moment. But when I began to see, a look of shock spread across my face, forming an expression that was both ugly and comical.

"Where am I?" I thought, pondering as I looked around, but I had no idea where I was.

As I began to slowly wake up, I realized I was lying flat on an unknown terrain. I was able to smell the strange yet familiar scent of the soil that was so close to my face, so I hurriedly tried to get up. But a terrible pain struck me down, which made me scream in agony, nearly passing out.

"…huh"
