The audition lasted for for a whole month and the rating was in five categories, the top 50 winners at the first stage of which I was lucky enough to be the 48th top winner, and the second rating were the top 20 winners and am the lucky 15 runner up, the third rating was the top 10 and I was lucky to be the 7th runner up. Among the top ten I was the only one perform all by myself others are a crew. The first three runner up are 1- The Triplets, 2- Bright Diamond Angels, 3-KC crew, this crew won against the R&Ks crew making them the fourth.
Today is the final day of the audition and only five winners will be selected for the City IDOL musical concret which will commence this Saturday, that's three days from now.
" Maria!" I heard someone call out ot me, I turned and noticed Kristen who has been my best support system and vocal coach I never new he could sing not until my second audition.
"Kristen you're here, thought you won't make it" I said side hugging him.
" I had to come because I can't bear to miss out and guess who's here to wish you luck" he said with a smirk, I shrugged my shoulders.
" I don't know anyone, so I can't guess" I told him,
" Oh, shit did she just say she doesn't know anyone" Kristen's sister said and I was truly surprised to see her. She's the my real coach here, she actually won the CITY IDOL MUSICAL CONCRET two years back.
"Oh my God! Tina, so good to see you in person and Kristen never told me you were coming" I said excitedly.
" Girlllll you're soooo gorgeous! You've got some killing hips you know" she dramatically rounded me as she spoke.
"Come on Tina stop the flattering" I said. I know I have good body shape and pretty face just like my mom. The difference between mom and I is that mom has oval shaped face but mine is round just like my dad.
We chatted for few minutes before I went in because am up next.
I did a song by Celine Dion MY HEART WILL ALWAYS GO ON. This was the first song mom thought me when I was eight years old and just as I sang I could see my mom seated among the Evaluators, carried away in the moment I took soft steps down the stage as I sang and mom sang along with me by the time I ended my performance I noticed it's just my illusion. The resounding clapping of hands brought me out of my thoughts, I bowed and got up the stage.
"Maria, Maria you're amazing if I didn't know Celine Dion I would have mistaken you for her. Keep going girl like the shining star you're" evaluator Vicky said " Thank you Vicky" I thanked her. " Well ah, Maria are by any means related to the Icon Celine Dion" Mr French asked.
"No Mr French"
" Now tell me, who's your favorite 3 music artists?" Mr French asked.
"First is my mom though late, second is Celine Dion and third is you Mr French" I said, yes Mr French is a talented song writer and singer.
" Oh really, thank you_ keep it up Maria" he said
"Can I get a hug Maria?" Tom asked and I jumped off the stage to hug him then went back.
" Maria you nailed it! So, am giving you your first vote with a yes!" Michelle said
and so did the other three evaluators.
After the last two crews performance, we are all standing on the stage right now for the final evaluation.
Mr French came up the stage to announce the top five winners for the upcoming City IDOL.
"10 runner up the Masquerade crew, congratulations once more, the 9 runner up City Angels good job city angels, the 8 runner up C&C crew....." He continued evaluating but I felt like fainting right now, my nervousness is taking the best hold on me. I was lost in my own world until the other audience stood up with scream, I looked around and saw Mr French, Tom, Michelle and Vicky walked up to me, it was then I noticed the golden buzzer.
" Congratulations Maria you're a star" Vicky said hugging me, while Mr French
pats my back then we both high five.
Kristen and Tina came to me and we group hugged each other. It was then my tears fell.
"Congratulations Maria "
"Congratulations Maria you were amazing girl" Tina said as we both hugged again.
"Thank you guys, your support system actually made me win" I told them truthfully.
" Let's celebrate your win" Kristen said
" Yea!!!" Tina shouted.
The three of got off the car and went to a fancy restaurants though Tina wanted us to celebrate in the club but Kristen refused.
"Kristen, it's not fair you should have at least asked Maria first before deciding" Tina said as we placed our orders.
"You didn't ask her yourself when you said we should go to the club" Kristen sneered at her.
" You're lucky you didn't ask, I would have said we celebrate at home" though it's not true what I said but that's the only way to stop their banter
" You're joking right_ I think I will introduce you to someone before I go back_ like seriously Maria you're now a star" Tina said but I just don't have words for this super active lady right now because am famished.
I only have tonight to rest because I will need to replenish my strength for the up coming City IDOL finallie in three days time.
"Hello Kristen, Tina good evening everyone" A cool charming voice said from behind me but the smile on Kristen face is not just a smile you give anyone but someone special.
"Sister in-law, how are you here" I heard Tina say as the lady walk up to us.
"Essa, how're you please sit" Kristen said pulling a seat for her.
"Thank you babe, I've missed you" she said and they both exchanged feather like kiss on the lips.
"Please you both can get a room and stop the PDA grrrrrrr" Tina said dramatically.
"Oh please get_ is this Maria the winner of the last concluded music audition? OMG! Babe tell she's the one you've been telling me about" she said looking from me to Kristen then back again.
"What do you think?" Kristen asked with raised eyebrows.
" Wahoo, I think she's the one_ Maria you're amazing, you're indeed a star and my brother....." She was saying but Kristen cut her off
" Essa what do you care for? the usual or something else? He said to her but why do I feel he's preventing her from saying something, I didn't pay attention to that but continued eating as we chatted. Kristen introduced Essa who's same as Vanessa as his fiance.
